Krishna Conducts All Affairs of Both Universes

The Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is greater than all, is attainable by unalloyed devotion. Although He is present in His abode, He is all-pervading, and everything is situated within Him. (Bhagavad-Gita 8.22)

It is clearly stated here that the supreme destination from which there is no return is the abode of Krishna, the Supreme Person. The Brahma-samhita describes this supreme abode as a place where everything is full of spiritual bliss. Whatever variegatedness is manifest there is all of the quality of spiritual bliss–there is nothing material.

All variegatedness is expanded as the spiritual expansion of the Supreme Godhead Himself, for the manifestation there is totally of the spiritual energy, as explained in Chapter Seven.

As far as this material world is concerned, although the Lord is always in His supreme abode, He is nonetheless all-pervading by His material energy.

So by His spiritual and material energies He is present everywhere–both in the material and in the spiritual universes.

Everything is sustained by Him, whether it be spiritual or material energy.

It is clearly stated here that only by bhakti, or devotional service, can one enter into the Vaikuntha (spiritual) planetary system. In all the Vaikunthas there is only one Supreme Godhead, Krishna, who has expanded Himself into millions and millions of plenary expansions. These plenary expansions are four-armed, and they preside over the innumerable spiritual planets. They are known by a variety of names–Purusottama, Trivikrama, Kesava, Madhava, Aniruddha, Hrsikesa, Sankarsana, Pradyumna, Sridhara, Vasudeva, Damodara, Janardana, Narayana, Vamana, Padmanabha, etc.

These plenary expansions are likened unto the leaves of a tree, and the main tree is likened to Krishna. Krishna, dwelling in Goloka Vrndavana, His supreme abode, systematically conducts all affairs of both universes (material and spiritual) without a flaw by power of His all-pervasiveness.

About the Author

My first contact with a Hare Krishna was a most merciful Mataji in Oxford Street, London who sold me a "Higher Taste" cook book in 1984 while I was on holidays there. I started seriously reading Srila Prabhupada's books in Australia 1985 and by 1986 Srila Prabhupada had convinced me "Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead" and "we should surrender to Krishna." I joined the Hare Krishnas in Perth, Western Australia in 1986. Since then I have been chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, reading and distributing Srila Prabhupada's books and preaching as much as I can. That's my life and full-time occupation now really. I like it more than anything I've ever experienced before. Srila Prabhupada's books are so amazing... Even after reading them all many times they're still fresh and new. They are truly transcendental! That's it really. Now I'm just hankering to once again see the world chant Hare Krishna, dance and feast and float away in the ecstasy of Lord Caitanya's Sankirtana movement as it did in Srila Prabhupada's physical presence. Let the whole world drown in the ecstatic flood of love of Krishna!

    Hare Krishna,
I would like to know about tirupati balaji. Is there anything about Lord tirupati in Srimad Bhagwatam??
What was the time when Lord Tirupati incarnated? Was it before Krsna or after Krsna?

  4. Sudakshnasharma says:

Hare Krishna prabhu Ji . Sadar pranam All glories to srila prabhupada Ji . All glories to Radha Rani Ji . Is there any difference between japa on beads or japa on fingers ? Kindly guide me . With deep regards . Sudakshnasharma

    • Hare Krishna Sudakshnasharma

Japa is chanting and hearing the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. The japa beads are a mechanism which is used to keep track of the number of rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra that we have chanted. This is because Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu introduced the principle of chanting Hare Krishna with numerical strength for His followers. So as followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabu we vow to chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day. So there is a need to keep track of how many rounds we have chanted to make sure that we complete our vow.

Therefore japa beads. Now there is a special quality in Tulsi japa beads. Srimati Tulsi Devi is a pure devotee of Krishna so if we chant on Tulsi Japa beads then we are always in contact with the body of a pure devotee of Krishna. So chanting on tulsi japa beads is far superior to chanting on fingers or clickers or anything else.

So if we are serious about Krishna consciousness we should chant on Tulsi japa beads. But if for some reason it is not possible then we can use some other counting system like counting on our fingers or using a clicker, etc. But none of these other counting systems are actually comparable to chanting on tulsi japa beads. But still the main point is chanting Hare Krishna. So if you do not have the tulsi japa beads you can count on your fingers…

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

    Are there indications?

  7. Ronald says:

    Hi Madhudvisa Dasa,

First of all, thank you for your regular newsletters, they very much help me to have a greater understanding of Krishna!

Second I have a general question for you.
Is it possible for me, as an aspiring devotee who is not fully capable (yet) of following the four regulative principles, to install an altar in my home? I am wondering as well if it is possible for me, in this position, to offer food to the Lord / Swami Prabhupada? Or would this be an offence?

    Thanks for your time,

    Haribol!

    Ronald

    • Hare Krishna Ronald

It is possible for anyone to follow the four regulative principles. You just have to decide to do it. First you have to chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day, that will give you the strength to follow the four regulative principles. It is difficult in the beginning and really while we remain in the material world surrounded by others whose whole purpose in life is breaking the regulative principles it may remain difficult to some extent.

But you will experience a higher taste from chanting Hare Krishna and reading Srila Prabhupada’s books and engaging in devotional service. But we have to follow the regulative principles and chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra.

Of course in the meantime Lord Caitanya and Srila Prabhupada are very merciful so certainly set up an alter [with pictures only is better unless you are really prepared to do regular worship] and have kirtan and cook offerings and beg Srila Prabhupada to accept. But why not follow the regulative principles? There is no problem to do it. We have to surrender to this. Otherwise we will never do it.

There are so many psudo-devotees who never follow the regulative principles and have no intention of ever chanting at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day. So they miss the whole point. They never discover what Krishna consciousness is. We can not experience Krishna consciousness without following the four regulative principles, chanting at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day, and reading Prabhupada’s books at least 1-2 hours a day. So just do it. Take Krishna consciousness seriously and follow the regulative principles seriously and it will be wonderful for you.

Of course we may occasionally fall down but that is not the end. Rather failure is the pillar of success. If we are determined to get up again and again become properly situated in Krishna consciousness then we can move forward again.

So just kick this idea that you can’t follow the regulative principles out of your mind. It is maya, kick it out. And just follow the regulative principles, chant Hare Krishna, read Prabhupada’s books and be happy…

  8. Kanak Satwani says:

    Hare Krishna Maharaj
Please tell how to attain unalloyed devotion for Krishna, although Krishna is the love of my life but still I feel something is missing, I want to love HIM to the point of intoxication, but the material elements around me somehow manage to distract me n try to bring me back in this body , I don’t want to feel the pleasures n pains associated with this body and I want to simply bask in the warmth of Krishna’s love , please help
    Your humble servant
    Madhu

    • Hare Krishna Madhu

Krishna is not directly approachable by us. That is not the way. If you read Krishna’s Bhagavad-gita He orders us to surrender to a bona fide spiritual master, offer obeisances, render service, inquire submissively. Such a self-realized soul can give you real knowledge because he has seen the truth.

So this is the way. You have to find a bona fide spiritual master and surrender to him and serve him, because he knows Krishna and he knows how you can be engaged in the service of Krishna.

So it is the bona fide spiritual master you are missing. I suggest you read Srila Prabhupada’s books and you will find your bona fide spiritual master and then you will really be able to completely reestablish your eternal but forgotten relationship with Krishna.

    Hare krishna , Madhudvisa Prabhu

I noticed that you did not upload all books of srila prabhupad ji such as Mukunda – mala – stotra , Transcendental Teachings of Prahlada Maharaja , A Second Chance: The Story of a Near – Death Experience ,Narada-bhakti-sutra ,The Journey of Self – Discovery ,The Path of Perfection ,Krsna Consciousness The Topmost Yoga System . So do you have these books as pdf or you don’t . Also i want to know the way to reach krishna and also if i have a pet dog is anything wrong imean you said if we are animal conscious then we will born as animal so that’s why iam asking you

    • Hare Krishna

Whatever PDFs I have are already uploaded. There are a lot of PDF books uploaded. I think you have not read them all. 30 volumes of Srimad-Bhagavatam, 17 volumes of Caitanya-caritamrata. So please read all the Prabhupada PDF books that I have already uploaded and if you finish read them again. They are much better the second time around.

Yes. We want to think of Krishna at the time of death. So it would be a great pity if you thought of your dog at the time of death. That would mean your next body would be a dogs body and that would mean you have wasted this human form of life. Human life is for becoming Krishna conscious, not dog conscious.

So we just have to become completely Krishna conscious. Then you will not have any need for the dog.

    Hare krishna prabhu
I want to know that in “Back to Godhead” magazine (in prabhupadabooks.com- BTGPY-17d:Universal Citizens Forum), Prabhupada had told that there should be no state governments. There should be one state only, as this would help in bringing universal peace and unity.

How is it possible, as it would create great chaos and put a huge burden over the leaders of the government? What does he actually mean by this?

    • No, no. If there is only one government there will be clarity, not chaos. And no, if there is a qualified leader, of course it is a burden, but a qualified leader can carry that burden very expertly. So the proper leader is required, that is all.

Still there will be decentralized government as well. What happened previously was there was one king that ruled the whole world but there were many, many small kingdoms, who all had their own kings, who were all surrendered to the king that ruled the world.

So even though one king is ruling the world he will do that through so many subordinate kings in their various kingdoms…

  12. Naren says:

    Dear Sir,
    Hare Krishna

It is not technically right to call both Lord Garbhodakasayi Vishnu and Lord Sriman Narayana and Lord Bhagavan Sri Sri Radhe Sri Vrajendranandana The Supreme Personality of Godhead as the same person.

As much as “achintya bheda abheda tatva” exists between us and our Emanator a Vilasa Avatara of Bhaganwan Bladeva it exists between the 9 layers of Transcendental Hierarchy right down to Bhagavan Garbhodakasayi Vishnu who drives the material creation with the help of the perverted versions of Hladini, Samwit and Sandhini.

Nectar of Devotion elaborates that Lord Sriman Narayana has 60 of the 64 qualities of Sri Sri Radhe Sri Vrajendranandana The Supreme Personality of Godhead. And there is a transmission loss in further lower plenary expansions. Only the Prakasha Avataras are completely equal expansions of the Sri Sri Radhe Sri Vrajendranandana The Supreme Personality of Godhead.

    Warm & Deepest Regards
    Radhe Radhe

    • Hare Krishna Naren

The different Visnu-tattva expansions are all Visnu. They are all the same but as you say there are some differences. The differences are that only in Krishna are all the 64 out of 64 qualities manifest. That is why Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Because only in Krishna can we find all 64 qualities manifest. But the other Visnu expansions are expansions of Krishna and are non-different from Krishna but they do not exhibit all the qualities of Krishna in full. We do not say they are different from Krishna but at the same time they do not exhibit all the qualities of Krishna in full.

You misunderstand and add your mundane material conceptions when you say there is a ‘transmission loss’…. It is not like this and we should not speculate like this. Too much speculation is no good.

Prabhuji, As a life member and an irregular chanter and unintiated is it right for me to hear gopi gita, I mean to follow the foot steps of Gopis.I am fully aware of who Gopis were in their previous lives.I feel somewhat nearer to Krishna if I hear the melodious rendering filled with grief. I hear from others that by hearing and chanting you may get attachment to Krishna. Is it an offence?
    pamho, prabhu.and Thank you

    • Yes. It is an offense. You have to follow the orders of the spiritual master. You can not expect to be immediately on the platform of following in the footsteps of the gopis. It is offensive and artificial. You have to follow the process humbly. It means follow Srila Prabhupada’s instructions and chant the Hare Krishna mantra at least 16 rounds a day and strictly follow the four regulative principles: no illicit sex, no meat eating, no gambling and no intoxication and most importantly read Srila Prabhupada’s books at least 1-2 hours a day. If you get out of bed every morning before 4:30 AM then the early hours of the morning are very auspicious for spending chanting Hare Krishna.

And you can worship Panca-Tattva, Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His Associates. Actually Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Krishna in the mood of the gopis, particularly He is Krishna in the mood of Srimati Radharani. So if you really want to experience the mood of the gopis that is only possible through worshiping Lord Caitanya.

Lord Caitanya’s teachings have that melodious rendering filled with grief also…

I have started reading Prabhupada’s “Back to Godhead” magazine from the link that you had suggested – http://www.prabhupadabooks.com. But I had encountered a small problem. There are some question marks in between words showing amusement by the writer-Srila Prabhupada; but some make the sentence incomplete and it makes me look like ‘fill in the blanks’ spaces. Why are they used like that?

Also, whole of volume II and some parts of volume I are missing. Please let me know, from where could I get those missing portions?
