Supreme Court Throws Out GBC Appeal
The Bangalore High Court in a landmark judgement declared that ISKCON Bangalore and its associated properties were a legally distinct entity. However, the GBC forces, led by ISKCON Mumbai, realising the significance of the judgement, decided to appeal to the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court of India, to try and get the judgement reversed.

We are pleased to report that the appeal was not entertained, and instead the
“Bangalore: A Supreme Court bench, comprising Justice V N Khare and Justice Ashok Bhan, disposed of a special leave petition filed by ISKCON-Mumbai against an order restraining them from interfering with the affairs of ISKCON-Bangalore, an ISKCON press release said. While disposing of the petition, the bench refused to interfere with the order of the Karnataka High Court, passed by Justice Farooq, in favour of ISKCON-Bangalore, according to a release from ISKCON-Bangalore.” (New Indian Express, 12th September, 2002)

What this means is that the GBC has failed now both in the High court and the Supreme Court to dislodge ISKCON Bangalore’s position as being a legally distinct entity.
The Supreme court is the highest court in the land, and hence there is no further right of appeal against its order available to the GBC.

Thus on the ground it is business as usual for ISKCON Bangalore as it continues to establish Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON, and it is able to do this now with the full weight of legal protection from the country’s courts.

It is sad to know that Srila Prabhupada’s ISCKON is fighting over property in the court. I am an aspiring devotee and by reading such news really hurts my faith. There are many spiritual organizations in India and abroad which misled the people in general. Srila Prabhupada’s mission was so pure just by looking at him and listening his words one gets instant bliss, but reading about the GBC and the gurus and other events are really shocking. As a an aspiring devotee it is very difficult whom to trust and whom not to trust. As it is a question of one’s life and destiny. Ultimately if ISCKON doesn’t set the high standards in the world then who else to look upto. Srila Prabhupada would not have been happy on this. Indeed this visible world is full of darkness.

Yes. The situation with ISKCON is very bad. They have in so many ways rejected the orders of Srila Prabhupada, this fighting in courts over money and property is only one of the things. Srila Prabhupada’s godbrothers also did this when Bhaktsiddhanta disappeared and Srila Prabhupada specifically warned the devotees in ISKCON not to make this mistake. Anyhow the point is that ISKCON has rejected Srila Prabhupada in so many ways, they keep him as a figurehead only and for advertising to get new devotees, but they have no interest whatsoever in actually following the orders of Srila Prabhupada and their mission and Prabhupada’s mission is a completely different thing.

He is with us in his book and recorded lectures and conversations and on the Prabhupada DVD set. We just have to take advantage of the association of Srila Prabhupada by reading his books and hearing from him and follow his instructions and become pure devotees of Krishna ourselves and Prabhupada in his books and Krishna in our hearts will guide us and show us the way forward. But the way forward is not ISKCON, that is sure. It is best to stay very clear of ISKCON because now they are poisonous and anyone who goes near them gets poisoned…
