Dear Yasoda Nandana Prabhu
Hello. Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila
Prabhupada.
Thanks for your reply to my letter about Srila Visvanatha Chakravaty Thakura
and his guru. I am sorry I quoted from an unauthorized book. I very much agree
that we should just quote from Srila Prabhupada's books, he has given us
everything.
I am a little tired of the whole debate. In my mind it is very clear. We just
have to submissively hear from Prabhupada and all the apparent problems will be
resolved. We have to be prepared to hear everything Srila Prabhupada says, not
just the things that support our views. I see both ISKCON and the ritviks
quoting Prabhupada and both are guilty of selecting quotes which support their
position and neglecting others which do not. It's clear from Prabhupada's words
and mood he wanted his disciples to become qualified gurus -- there are so many
letters, quotes, how can we deny it? It is also clear at the time of leaving
his body he could not see anyone qualified to be the next "Acarya" of ISKCON
therefore he instituted a ritvic system so he could continue to take disciples
after he disappeared from our mundane vision. It is also clear during his
physical presence Srila Prabhupada ensured everything he said was recorded so
his vani would be available to future generations, it is also clear he arranged
the temple program around worshiping the founder-acarya... So it is clear to me
that Srila Prabhupada is the Founder-Acaraya and that he wants his disciples to
become qualified acarya's also. And if some become qualified they can take
their own disciples. Whay not?? But that doesn't mean the worship of the
Founder-Acarya, Srila Prabhupada would be in any way reduced...
So that is my understanding. Now it is our business to take Prabhupada's
teachings very seriously, make them our life and soul and actually live them.
Then we will be teaching by our own example, and that is acarya, teaching by
example... There is no alternative. We have to seriously follow all Srila
Prabhupada's instructions: 4 regulative principles (no illicit sex, no
intoxication, no meat eating, no gambling), chanting 16 rounds, distributing
his books, living in the assocation of devotees, only eating prasadam, rising
before 4:00 am and attending mangal-aroti, tulasi-puja, guru-puja, Srimad
Bhagavatam class, prasadam, books distribution, Hari-Nama sankirtana, etc...
Otherwise we are just wasting our valueable human life argunig among ourselves
and with ISKCON. What's the point of that? We should just get the job done.
Give Krishna consciousness to the fallen conditioned souls. Print and
distribute Srila Prabhupada's books, cook, offer and distribute Krishna
prasadam to the conditioned souls, go out on Hari-Nama sankirtana and give the
fallen souls a chance to hear the Hare Krishna maha-mantra chanted from the
lips of pure devotees... And preach... Tell people about Krishna...
Why not?
Looking forward to hearing from you. Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!
Your servant
