Dear Wolfgang Hello. Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Thanks for your letter. The main thing for us is to be Krishna conscious. Inside or outside ISKCON we can still chant Hare Krishna, read Srila Prabhupada's books and preach. So we should vow to follow the four regulative principles, chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna maha mantra daily and always read Srila Prabhupada's books. Then our spiritual success will be sure and inside or outside ISKCON we will not be wasting our very valuable human life. It is said that to waste even a second not thinking about and serving Krishna is the greatest waste. Even a second can't be replaced with millions of dollars... I have heard of St Franciss of Assisi. There is an order of priests here in Austraila called the Franscisians and when Srila Prabhupada visited Australia one time he spoke to a whole semaniry. There were about 50 priests and Prabhupada gave a wonderful class and he agreed with the teachings of St Franciss. I can't remember the details completely, It would be good if you got the tape yourself and listened to it. I think he was a vegetarian? He talks about "brother tree", "brother cow"? Anyhow Prabhupada's class was a great success. It was very much appreciated by all the priests who gave a very enthusiastic applause and asked lots of nice questions. Of course there were many problems in ISKCON when Srila Prabhupada was physically present as well, but you would never know by listening to his classes or reading his books [with the exception of a few mentions in the Sri Caitanya-caritamrta]. Srila Prabhupada always preached completely from the spiritual platform. His lectures and books are timeless. So his teachings will shine through long, long after all the GBC members and bogus gurus are completely forgotten. So it is not good to concentrate on the problems, we have to be positive and do something ourselves to advance in Krishna consciousness and to help others advance also. It is not that Srila Prabhupada ignored the problems either, you can read his letters and see that he spent much time solving the problems in ISKCON. But that didn't effect his preaching, he didn't preach about the problems, he solved them... I don't like criticizing, and I don't think there is much to be gained from going into all the old problems of "Zonal Acaryas", Bhagavan, etc... Still they have spoiled so many things in ISKCON, and I don't know what to do either. I don't like to be separate from ISKCON and Srila Prabhupada said we should remain in ISKCON no matter what -- even if the GBC turn it into hell [which they have almost done] Some devotees are recommending I should work from within to try and help correct things, but they won't let me stay in the temples... So it is not such a practical suggestion. So my only option is to preach separately. I miss the devotees, the Deities, the temple program, etc. But what to do? The main thing is to become Krishna conscious. Chant Hare Krishna, read Srila Prabhupada's books, etc... I have also been thrown out by Harikesa Swami and I don't think he would treat me very well if I visited his zone again... So it is a very difficult situation. Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!
