Dear Cristian

Hello. Hare Krishna!

Krishna is a person, but He is the Supreme Person.

aham evasam evagre nanyad yat sat-asat param

pascad aham yad etac ca yo 'vasisyeta so 'smy aham

"Bhahma, it is I, the Personality of Godhead, who was existing before the

creation, when there was nothing but Myself. Nor was there the material nature,

the cause of the creation. That which you see now is also I, the Personality of

Godhead, and after annihilation what remains will also be I, the Personality of

Godhead." Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.9.33)

So Krishna, God is ultimately a person. We are made in His image, even the

Christian Bible gives that information. So His form and our form are similar.

But we are very small and He is very great.

We have come to this material world and accepted material bodies made of earth,

water, fire, air and ether and subtle bodies made from mind, intelligence and

false ego. So the gross material and subtle bodies are coverings on our

original spiritual bodies. Krishna does not have such coverings. Krishna does

not have a material body. Even when Krishna appears within this world He does

so in His original transcendental body.

So God is a person, but He can be realized in different ways. Not everyone can

understand His personal form as Krishna. Some accept the supreme as something

impersonal that pervades everything. And that is also one aspect of Krishna.

Just as the sun is in the sky in a particular place but from that place the

sun-rays are spread all over the universe so Krishna's energy is also spread

all over the universe.

vadanti tat tattva-vidas tattvam yaj jnanam advayam

            brameti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate

"Learned transcendentalists call this non-dual substance Brahaman, Paramatma or

Bhagavan."

"The Supreme Truth is realized in three aspects: as impersonal Brahman [the

all-pervasive, impersonal conception of the supreme], localized Paramatma [God

within the heart] and at last as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. So at the

last stage of understanding the Absolute Truth, one comes to the Supreme

Personality of Godhead. A liberated man and even a common man may realize

impersonal Brahman or localized Paramatma, yet they may not understand God's

personality from the verses of Bhagavad-gita, which are being spoken by this

person, Krishna.

There are even many liberated persons who cannot understand Krishna as

Purusottama, the Supreme Person, the father of all living entities...

So knowing God as a person is a higher level of understanding.

You have asked why there are different types of people, why not just one race.

So there are not just different types of people. There are 8,400,000 species of

life from the tiny insects, up to the human form of life. There are even more

advanced forms than the human one. They are called demigods and they live on

higher planets.

All the 8,400,000 species of life arise from a different combination of the

modes of material nature: goodness, passion and ignorance. The idea is we

develop a certain type of consciousness in this life and depending on the type

of consciousness we have at the time of death we are given another body to

continue our life in. So if one develops animal consciousness he will get and

animals body in the next life. If he is in human consciousness he will get a

human body, and there are 400,000 different species within human bodies and he

gets a particular one according to his consciousness... that is determined by

his karma, the activities he has performed in his previous life.

We are all individuals and we are generating our next body now by the

activities we are performing and the consciousness we are developing. So that

is why there are so many different types of body...

It is very good that you believe in reincarnation.

As for being vegetarian you have to develop a "higher taste". That can be done

by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra very seriously. You will gradually see

you are becoming purified and developing a taste for hearing and chanting about

Krishna. At the same time meat eating will become very unattractive to you. But

we have to chant hare Krishna and become purified,.

Looking forward to hearing from you again.
