How to offer food to Krishna?

Hare Krishna, Madhudvisa dasa ji,

Can you please write an article on Ekadashi’s rules and regulations? There is a Ekadashi on June 3. So does the Ekadashi fast goes for 3 days ( the day before, the day Ekadashi is and the day after) or the fast is only for one day. There are so many opinions on Ekadashi online on what to do and what not to do, that I get confused.

Thank you!

Tushar

How long the kirtan and aroti should be?

Hare Krishna,Madhudvisa dasa ji
I have another question. They have cheeses which have FPC rennet in it…they basically add a cow gene into a bacteria and it hardens the cheese. I just recently came to know about this.(Lord Krishna guided me.. i guess). Also in non-organic milk they add Vitamin D3 which is made from skin of pigs/sheep. In America they put lot of non-veg stuff in veg stuff and most people are unaware about it.F.D.A is basically run by corporations like Monsanto(in India many farmers committed suicide partly because of this company).
In future it is said that due to genetic engineering, companies like Monsanto, might put an animal gene in vegetarian crops. Would a vegetarian crop ,like wheat, be considered vegetarian if it has animal gene in it? (just for future reference)
I agree with whatever you said above. I will be making butter and cheese from organic milk in the future. Being vegan is probably the safest way of making no offenses while preparing and serving food for Swami Prabhupada ji and Lord RadhaKrishna ji in America.

You probably know more than me…it is for people who may not be aware of what kind of stuff is there in their food.

Srimad-Bhagavatam Original Edition PDF Download

Hare Krishna, Madhudvisa dasa ji,

On vedabase.net there are 12 cantos of Srimad Bhagavatam but on prabhupadabooks.com there are only 10. Why is that? I searched on Wikipedia it said Srimad Bhagavatam has 12 cantos. Please clear this doubt. Did you forgot to upload the last two cantos or there were originally only 10 cantos translated and explained by Swami Prabhupada ji?

The little-known secret to Advancement in Krishna Consciousness

Hare Krishna Madhudvisa dasa ji,

Can’t you have an eternal relationship with a living entity. Let’s say you have a wife and by the grace of Lord Radhakrishna ji and Swami Prabhipada ji you became eligible to go to spiritual world, can’t you take your wife along with you too? It depends if she wants to go with you and her attachment to you but can it happen?

The Absolute Necessity of a Bona Fide Spiritual Master

Hare Krishna,Madhudvisa dasa ji, I apologize for asking silly questions. I am completely blind when it comes to Krishna consciousness. I never take my spiritual master’s (prabhupadaji) words seriously. You are doing a great service, to lord, by helping fallen souls like me in Krishna Consciousness. You have greatly helped me in realizing the importance of disciplic succession and importance of worshiping spiritual master.I always tried to push away attachment for my spiritual master because I thought we should only be attached to Lord Radhakrisha ji (or Balaramaji, Laxminarayanaji..etc). I used to love my spiritual master but without attachment..haha

I am 18 years old, I started reading prabhupada ji books in 2009, and they have helped me immensely. I am still practicing on chanting 16 rounds daily, and also waking up 4 o’clock in the morning(which is the hardest part). I am also trying to steer away from sentimentalism because of which, I think, most people create their own methods of worshiping disregarding spiritual master teachings.
I am not reading Shrimad Bhagavatam yet, because it is above my level of intelligence right now. I am sticking with Bhagavad Gita because I need to get my basics right first.

I took this quote from “Friends of lord Krishna” Facebook page, which I think summarize what you said above.

SRI CHAITANYA CARITAMRTA – MADHYA LILA – (19-157):

“Unless One follows spritual master’s instructions and the regulative principles governing Chanting and hearing the Name of the Lord, One can not become a pure devotee!”

It is hard to become a Krishna Conscious person, but I guess it is easier than getting into an ivy league school since all applicants are accepted. The result is infinite times greater, transcendental and blissful also.

Thank you Madhudvisa dasa ji, for your time and help!

Does one need to worship his spiritual master, while following his intructions,if he wants to succeed? Is it important to have an attachment for your spiritual master?

Krishna Responds to Everyone According to their Desires

Hare Krsihna, Madhudvisa dasa ji
Viashnava philosophy says us not to ask anything from God accept eternal love towards him. But what is wrong in asking God to protect his/her family members/close associates?(there is nothing selfish here). If you have a wife/sister or mother won’t you be worried about their protection? Especially in countries like India where now days rape is very rampant. If we ask God to protect our families from such horrible situations …would our love for God will be deemed conditional? Why does Viashnava philosophy discourages us in asking such things from God(Krishna)?

The Ten Offenses in Chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra

Hare Krishna, Madhudvisa dasa ji

Is having attachment to wife (not attached to bodily form but spiritual part= Living entity) considered material attachment. I mean she is also a living entity, part and parcel of lord RadhaKrishna. Of course one cannot be too much attached to wife, if she is not Krishna Conscious, but still it is wrong to have attachment to your wife while chanting Hare Krishna maha mantra.(Prabhupada ji said it is natural to have affection for your wife or kids/parents). What if the person really loves his wife and really can’t live without her even if he tries to and truly love her unconditionally, congenially and selflessly and tries to make himself Krishna Conscious and her too so that he can take her with him in Spiritual world so she doesn’t suffer. I mean you can have eternal relationship with her(if she wants to have it) and all living entities are spiritual(marginal potency of Lord RadhaKrishna).
I have one more question. When we got to spiritual world can we have infinite attachment towards a living entity?. Lord RadhaKrishna does not have any problem with that right??

Sorry for asking silly questions but it would be really nice if you could answer the questions.

Your servant,
Tushar Sharma

Vedic Marriage is not for Sex (Certainly not for Homosexuality!)

Hare Krishna prabhu ji Dandwat Pranam!!!
Prabhu ji I want to know about horoscope match for marriage. I and my girlfriend want to get married. I am chanting 16 rounds and she is also a good girl. I want to serve Krishna. When I will convince her, she will also be ready. But the problem is horoscope is not matching. Out of 36 guna 18.5 are matched and bhakuta guna is 0. So should we marry? Because by horoscope matching it is not recommended. It is said that if marriage will be, there will be more problems come in life of both. If there will be problems, we will have problems in services of Krishna. Please give some suggestions prabhuji.
Hari bol!!!

The Spiritual World

I have a question which is…will the material world ever come to end like forever….no annihilation…or creation after so and so years…???
Is there anything mention in Vedas which says that material world will cease to exists if all living entities realize there true relationship with God ….will that ever happen…is it mentioned anywhere..or there always be a material world (forever !!) no matter how hard we try …because Lord Krishnaji made everything like this ??
and also another question…
when you get liberated…you enter Gokula Vrindhavan,(abode of lord krishnaji) where usually pure devotees of Lord Krishnaji goes;vaikuntha planets or some other spiritual planets. Can we talk with other persons too …like we do in this material world? ….is it like we have our own family or something and everyone is worshiping Lord Krishnaji and Radhamaji . And one more question when we fall from spiritual world to material world..and then become liberated by grace of spiritual master and Lord Krishna , do we go to same spiritual planet we once used to live in, or we go to random spiritual planet according to our relationship and attachment with Lord Krishna?

Christ and Krishna – the Name is the Same

Hare Krishna, Madhudvisa dasa ji,
I know in the book of Revelation descriptions of God in white horse, who will come at the end of times, is strikingly similar to descriptions of Kalki Avatar of Lord Krishna in Shrimad Bhagavatam.
There is also another striking connection. In Bible, there is a book called 2 Maccabees..in which there it talks about two young men which are akin to God (Lord Krishna and Lord Balarama?) who punish Heliodorus(A greek who converted to Vaishnavism and erected the Heliodorus pillar (Dedicated to Vasudeva))for forcing the high priest in Jerusalem to give the temple riches…you can read about the pillar in Wikipedia and about the story on
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Maccabees+3&version=DRAon

“Then two other young men, remarkably strong, strikingly beautiful, and splendidly attired, appeared before him. Standing on each side of him, they flogged him unceasingly until they had given him innumerable blows.”Two Maccabees 3:26

I just wanted to point out that even in Bible(this one I think is Catholic) you can find description of Lord Krishna even though it is in a subliminal manner.
Helidorus was a devotee of Vishnu around 110 B.C. and that fact itself shows that the Vaishnavism’s devotional aspect was not borrowed or influenced from Christianity(as claimed by some Christians)…since, the time that predates Christianity itself, Vaishnvaism was not only practiced in India but also by some Greeks who got connected to India when Alexander The Great fought battles with Indian kings.
You can still visit the pillar. It is located in central India in Vidisha near modern Besnagar.

The first inscription says..:

“This Garuda-standard of Vasudeva, the God of Gods
was erected here by the devotee Heliodoros,
the son of Dion, a man of Taxila,
sent by the Great Greek (Yona) King
Antialkidas, as ambassador to
King Kasiputra Bhagabhadra, the Savior
son of the princess from Benares, in the fourteenth year of his reign.”

The second inscription says:

“Three immortal precepts (footsteps)… when practiced
lead to heaven: self-restraint, charity, consciousness”

Srila Prabhupada: A Brief Biography

Hare Krishna, Madhudvisa dasa ji

Is it true Swami Prabhupadaji was poisoned? I visited this website http://www.harekrsna.org/gurupoison/index.html
It talks about the video recordings and how Swami Prabhupada ji was saying someone has poisoned him. You have known Swami Prabhupada ji for more than a decade I think..so I just want to know what is the truth.
It is really sad to think someone will poison such a great devotee of God and that too by his own disciples. But this claim never went to court or nobody ever seriously talked about it…I think it is important to know how your spiritual master left his material body. If he was poisoned it is really sad.

Thank you for your time,

Your Servant

The Whole World is Fighting for Sense Gratification (MP3 Audio)

Hare Krishna, Madhudvisa Dasa ji.
I have a question. After householder life does a person has to go to renounced order of life? Can he not attain transcendental service of lord MaRadhaKrishna ji without leaving his family when he gets old? It is very difficult for many people to leave there family at old age. I want my parents to become Krishna Conscious but I do not want them to get separated when they get old. Could they just live together as husband and wife and go to spiritual planet after this life? I can take care of them and help them in becoming Krishna conscious person.

Man On The Moon–A Colossal Hoax that Cost Billions of Dollars

Hare Krishna Madhudvisa dasa ji,

You are correct about having absolute faith in Lord Krishna and his pure devotees. I think even if they did sent unmanned probes to the moon, it does not make a huge difference. The most important thing is to serve your bonafide spiritual master and Lord Krishna unconditionally and selflessly and then everything else will automatically become clear. Thank you for your great service to Prabhupada ji, Lord Radhakrishna ji and Lord Balarama ji.

Your humble servant,
Tushar

» Posted By Tushar On May 18, 2012 @ 11:43 pm

Hare Krishna Madhudvisa dasa ji,

How can they send a probe to the moon without knowing the correct distance? If the moon is farther away from the earth than sun, then how can scientist send probes to the moon. If they can send unmanned probes to the moon that indirectly means they know the distance from earth to the moon which they claim is around 238,000 miles. I don’t believe man has walked on moon yet, but it could be done. In Vedas there are stories where asuras have reached heavenly planets through artificial means. I know you are making your point based on the Vedas (Srimad Bhagavatam, 5th Canto), but the evidence is pointing against the Vedic model. I know one should have unflinching faith in the Vedas, but one cannot develop faith with closed eyes.

Thank you for your time and patience,
Your servant Tushar.

  1. Govind says:

    Hare krishna Prabhuji.,Dandvat Pranaam
May i know about the author of the book”Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita As It Is” named mukund das prabhu.Had he any personal association with Srila Prabhupada.

    • This book is a compilation of direct quotes from Srila Prabhupada speaking about his own life. The author is Srila Prabhuapda, all Mukunda did was compile the quotes and he did a good job of it. He wrote a bit of rubbish on the last 2 pages but apart from that he did not write a single word in the book. It is a collection of Prabhupada quotes and the author of this book is Srila Prabhuapda.

  2. Vamshi says:

Prabhu Madhudvisa Dasa.Is Jagannath Krishna himself or is just an expansion of Krishna like Vishnu,Rama etc.In Iskcon lectures I heard that Jagannath is Krishna himself, they have proved this by saying a story from Skanda purana. Is this true or Iskcon lectures are just bogus?I found no video Prabhupad talking aboyt Lord Jagannath.Oh Prabhu kindly answer my doubts.Hare Krishna

    • Yes. Lord Jagannatah is Krishna Himself. It is Jagannatha [Krishna] Balarama and Krishna’s sister Subhadra.

So Jagannatha is deity form of Krishna. He is representation of Krishna with His brother Balarama and sister Subhadra,

It is deity manifestation of Krishna, Balarama and Lady Subhadra,

  3. tanu says:

    Jai Govind

I request you clear my doubts.I understand the complexities of life processes, cellular mechanisms and other natural phenomenon cannot be explained solely by reasoning and scientific theories as somewhere or other our knowledge is limited.I am a science student nd nature lover. After reading the article posted by you regarding the concept of the origin of life,a question arisen in my mind that krishna is all powerful, then, why he designed this universe in this complicated way?,why life originated? why he made all that dna etc matter space?what is his true nature? why are we given these bodies these reasoning abilities?why krishna waited for billions of years and made us take birth here?why prakrati and purush got seperated? who were those dinosaurs etc for souls are eternal were those dinosaurs primitive and other organisms we only? are there any planet lest earth having life?why will happen atlast for we are ultimately destined to reach our eternal govind? why doesn’t he appears now and clear all these doubts for one thing is sure that if even he messages in some ways we will submit to him?why krishna is so naughty why has he made everything complicated?I know these are childlish questions but still worthy to be answered…..

I am a krishana devotee.I feel as if there is pure love for him deep in my heart. But at the same time I do believe in science.Sometimes i find myself stuck in between science emotions belief and devotion.I want to understand my Govind,I want to understand myself.

I request my friends to please give answer to these questions.I hope i will get atleast answers of a few questions as i found this site quite appealing.

    thankyou!
    Radhe krishna

    • Hare Krishna Jai Govind

To clear your doubts you have to become Krishna conscious. Because unless you become Krishna conscious you will not be able to understand what Krishna consciousness is and you will remain continually bewildered.

All these questions are irrelevant. You seem to accept that Govinda exists, that He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now you have to just surrender to the idea that you are His servant. And then you need to find out practically how you can engage in the service of Krishna. And to find out how to do this you need to read Srila Prabhupada’s books. And in the process of becoming Krishna conscious all your other questions will automatically be answered.

The scientists can not understand anything. They only have very fragmental information about everything they study. The information we can gather through our material senses is very limited. There are so many things we can not perceive through our material senses. So they can not understand what they can not perceive.

So instead of just speculating all these questions and being bewildered like this it is better to just admit that in our conditioned state with our very limited mind and our material senses we can not hope to understand Krishna or even this material world which is created ultimately by Krishna.

The way to understand these things is to become Krishna conscious. We can not understand without becoming Krishna conscious.

So you have to learn how to become Krishna conscious… That is the answer to all your questions. And Krishna consciousness is a science and that science is very elaborately presented in the books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

      Madhudvisa dasa
