A Miracle!
I began to sing my prayers to lord Nrsimha and as I was singing I thought I felt a presence of so kind of spiritual power in the room. I continued my prayers. When my prayer was complete, I bowed down fully in surrender.
As I was giving my last prayer (while still in full surrender) I thought I heard a Lion roar somewhere in the background.
It was a warm sunny afternoon on a tuesday.
I usually do my prayers around 4:30 p.m, normal worship time, but that day I had to go somewhere, so I did my prayers around 1:30 p.m. I first did my Radha Madhava prayers, Followed by a munghal aarti of Lord Krishna. Now comes the miracle. I began to sing my prayers to lord Nrsimha and as I was singing I thought I felt a presence of so kind of spiritual power in the room. I continued my prayers. When my prayer was complete, I bowed down fully in surrender. As I was giving my last prayer (while still in full surrender) I thought I heard a Lion roar somewhere in the background. I looked up after my prayer to admire the spiritual rupa of Lord Nrsimha and I saw real blood driping from the body of Hirenyakashipu, For a second I was scared, naturally you would be scared if something unexpected happened. But after a while I felt this esctatic joy within me, I felt so happy, even today I feel happy. Can anyone give me a reason why this miracle happened to me and not to the other thousands of devotees?

Brother I think it was a sign to you that if anyone tried to hurt or harm you, definitely he is going to be punished by Lord Narasimha. I feel so.
I was happy to see many people have similar experiences..I perform deep meditation before my sleep..I also heard the roar of lord Narasimha in my dream during dawn on Monday around 4.00 am..I was very frieghtened as well…I didn’t understand the meaning as I was not praying or thinking about lord Narasimha..
My family of three used to live and take care of this 100 year old house for my aunt.And the house had this beautiful pooja room..During that time i was just a kid,maybe in 3rd std.My mom normally lights the lamp,change the flowers and performs pooja at dawn and dusk.I would help her in this everyday.One evening,she asked me to light the lamp.I was overjoyed because amma rarely let me light the lamp and i did everything that my mom would do.After lighting the lamp,i was doing arti to this huge picture of Narasimha swamy.Suddenly i was curious.Out of my childishness,i talked to the photo and said”I am singing and doing aarti for you,but how do i know that you are here”.
I know many people who didnt belive me, but i started hearing a soft roar which gradually became so instense that i had to close my ears and run out of the pooja room.I had experienced something beyond this world.Since then i have never questioned his presence, i know he liatens to everything i say.

Wow. You know I was searching online for this exact thing. I am a devotee of Shiva and meditate semi -regularly.
A day before yesterday was Narsimha Chaturdashi. I didnt even know of this occasion till someone told me. So I decided to meditate thinking of Lord Narsimha. I just made up a Mantra (knowing a little Sanskrit) and chanted it while deep in meditation. I wasnt even done, I was deep in meditation and I heard a loud roar. The hair on the back of my neck stood up in part excitement and part fear. My dhyan was broken and there was no one there. I did not tell this to anyone as everyone would think I was crazy.
So I have been looking for a post like this. I didnt know what to think. Reading all these comments make me feel good. Its crazy someone else heard this exact thing.

But i am very sinful man…did some very bad things….oh will lord Vishnu narsimha forgive me…. .
Please help me…i think will start chanting now only one round of mahamantra and narsimha mantra and slowly increase it to 16 rounds. .

Sir you experienced this miracle because I believe when you prayed and when you said you surrendered you totally disconnected from any sort of attachment in this world and brought a total child like innocence in your prayer. When I say child like innocence I mean you will not question the happenings around you but blissfully watch and be happy.
Even though you pray everyday you had this experience only once. This is because your mind connected to God with pure soul and nothing else which is simply not easy as it sounds.
I hope I was able to put across my point clearly.
In fact I myself had one such experience and I remember standing simply silly!!
Recently my mother in law experienced similar experience like yours when she was deeply praying to Lord hanuman and singing in praise of the Lord. She wondered if people will believe her which I did.

you are so lucky , i think everyone situation is different , i dream about a huge golden form with arms of lord in front of one small broken old temple , when i wake up i keep think why lord lives in a such small temple , a short after while some relative tried to kill me and husband ,even ask police to arrest me , i have gave this guy so many chance and try to forgive him , but he was keep trying and even told my mother in law , he will beat me to death , and when i came home , i can hear he is trying to making voice that he is ready to do this , and that time i pray to lord for his mercy after a week ,this guy got cancer, and everytime i went home he cried and said i am so much in pain, shortwhile he passed away, anyway after that i checked in the internet and see one youtube introduce of ahobilam , and i was so surprised that old temple which i dreamed ,it is in ahobilam, so this is how miracle lord can help a devotee’s life ,when they are really in big trouble

Lila Shakti, I have heard your miracle before and I have been sharing it with devotees who found great solace that Narasimhadeva is still protecting us after so many years since His initial appearance. Your story would have advanced Narasimha Bhakti and I sincerely hope you will be blessed always.
There are many great comments here and I was very privileged to read them. Vidhya’s comment really touched my heart. I was blessed to have two divine visions of Narasimhadeva the first of which was confirmed by my spiritual teacher. Following these visions, my life was saved once and I have had abundant miracles occur including in Ahobilam the holy site of Lord Narasimha’s arrival.
None of these things are my doing but are the grace of the Lord. To Vidhya may I respond by saying, there is no formula to getting visions of Narasimhadeva. There is nothing wrong at all with doing any spiritual practice as no spiritual practice will harm you or create an obstruction to getting a vision however it is important to realise:
1) The Lord manifests at HIS will not ours. We must not think that the Lord should be summoned like an employee but rather we must want to be worthy for the Lord to come to us.
2) having a desire to see the Lord is very important and helpful. Just like a mother loves to spend time with a child who craves her, the Lord also wants to be with a person who sincerely craves for the closeness to God rather than those who crave the experience
3) it does not matter what chanting you do as I had my visions as a Shaivaite and did not chant any Vaishnava chants, as we did not know any. Whatever you choose to chant if you do it with sincerity the Lord will accept it.
4) it is important to remember that the Lord presents himself to protect us, inspire us and teach us. Not for gratitude for our worship. It is important to know that when we require the Lords protection etc. He will come and conversely, when we comes we must be prepared to investigate the meaning behind it and commit to some degree of change. Such devotees will continue to gain further visions.
5) sometimes the Lord appears very easily to us without us having to do any penance because we have done penance in the past. But in other times we are expected to do penance prior to getting a vision. Sometime the penance is expected afterwards. But there is always penance. I have heard many devotees crave for a vision “for free” as it were but we don’t improve as a result of free grace so we are expected to do some work. No one know what work the Lord calculates as worthy for his vision but as a devotee we must be prepared for work. Sage Bhargava craved the vision of Narasimhadeva at the exact moment He destroyed Hiranyakashipu. Narasimhadeva told him that he needs to carry a vessel of water up mountain 1000 times. Sage Bhargava did so and was indeed given the vision and the vision was consecrated by the construction of the Bhargava Narasimha Swamy temple in Ahobilam.
Vidhya, it seems you are blessed with the desire to see Narasimhadeva and I sincerely hope your desire will be blessed soon with a vision. Please practice acceptance of all things as His will and I am sure you will see the Divine soon. If it makes you feel better from my experience and the experience of many others it seems, Narasimhadeva acts with the most incredible speed.

Please do not publicize your spiritual visions. They are spiritual secrets which is a blessing to a devotee and should not be revealed to non-devotees/materialists. It should be told only to true sincere devotees who can understand this. Why do you allow such spiritual wonders to criticisms? You may be deprived of such visions in future if you do not maintain its purity.

What you have said is correct, I agree with you. I had this experience during the elementary stages of My Sadhana, I was also very young at the time, and thus lacked the spiritual maturity and understanding to understand that point. I wrote this post out of my eagerness to share an experience that illustrated Bhagavan’s infinite mercy and compassion to even a young and ignorant devotee. I was also looking for answers from more senior devotees on the nature of such experiences and whether they were a common occurrences experienced by other devotees as well. My intention in writing this post was pure and innocent for that stage in my Sadhana. If I have offended you or any other servant of Bhagavan in any way by writing this post many years ago, I humbly ask for your forgiveness and understand.

The Lords wanted you know that He was there for you.
Once my ex-boyfriend wanted sex with me. I was in his house. He stood by the door of my room and asked me to go to his room. I didn’t want sex with him, I than asked him why he didn’t come inside my room instead.
He said that next to me was a very tall man with lion head and he was scared of Him…
Amazing is that this guy knew nothing about philosophy, Lord Nrinsinhadeva.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Lord Nrsimhadeva. Experiences like these are always indications for us Bhaktas that our Prabhu is always ever present, looking out for our welfare and protecting us unfavorable situations as well as our Bhakti. I have had more than one experience in regards to Lord Nrsimhadeva that has made this truth clear to me over the years. It is hence that I consider Lord Nrsimhadeva as my Aradhya (Worshipable Deity), and why I see Bhakta Raja Prahlada Maharaja as my ideal and in one sense a Guru figure. Whenever I was discouraged by others and told not to pursue my devotional life, I always would remember Prahlada Maharaja, and it would give me the strength and courage to more forward.
You are most fortunate that the Lord watches over you and had protected your chastity and honor on that day. I am most certain He continues to do so even to date. That is his nature. Your experience reminded me of a lila which has been described in the Chaitanya Charitamrta. When the Chanda Kazi opposed Mahaprabhu’s Sankirtana Movement and deliberately broke Mridangas, He had a vision of Sri Nrsimhadeva who clawed at His chest. It is then that out of fear from the Lord, He realized His offense and became more sympathetic towards Mahaprabhu’s movement. Your experience also reminded me of another experience which was told to me by a president of one Hindu Temple. The Temple was in the process of being renovated and there was a worker who was busy working on installing new tiles. Night had fallen and the worker had not finished his work, so the priest gave the worker the keys and told him to lock up after he had finished the work. And if I remember correctly, this worker had some desire to take (steal rather) some of the money offerings from the donation box at some point in the night. At that time He claimed to see Sri Hanumanji standing next to the donation box. Thinking it was His imagination or perhaps someone else was standing there, He just looked away and continued to try and finish his work. But whenever He looked up and in whatever direction He looked, He kept seeing Sri Hanumanji standing there. At some point He got really uncomfortable and became fearful for his life and bolted from the temple locking it up. The next morning when the priest and trustees of the temple arrived, they saw that the tile work was not done, nor did they find the worker. They then called his house to find out what happened and learned that He had a very high fever that morning. The worker then proceeded to tell them what had transpired in the night.
So these experiences happen. There are countless such experiences throughout the world where either Bhagavan Himself or some exalted Bhakta has appeared either directly manifest or in disguise and has aided devotees when there is need. Our dearest most worship-able Sridham Vrndavana is the greatest example of this. Stories of Bhagavan manifesting for the sake of Bhaktas is a regular and daily occurrence there and is hardly something surprising for the Vrajavasis. This is one reason why we believe that Sri Krishna never left Vraja and that He continues to reside and live there eternally there even today.

Oki so you saw a lion??????? in what religion ae you???? and wha does the body that’s dripping blood mean??? is it good??? or is it Bad??? I am not trying be mean but i don’t think that you were wathcing God. I am christian… but yaeh everybody has their rigth to follow any religion they migth want to.
i totally understand your skepticism Karen. the ‘lion’ is one of the avatar of the hindu’s supreme Lord, Vishnu.

just like in chritianity, the bible mentions about the white knight, in hinduism also, he is mentioned. and for us, he is the 10th and last avatar of Vishnu. narsimha is the 4th.
answers to your question; no he didnt see a lion, but the picture representing one of our avatars, Narsimha, kiling an evil king, as it has been described in our sacred books.(as u may know, we hindus use statues and pictures portraying our deities)
the blood means nothing, my opinion is, it was just a way for Vishnu to reassure the devotee that he is here and always protecting him from evil, just the way he eliminated the proud and evil king) why Vishnu chose this particular picture, probably because the devotee is more inclined to pray Vishnu in this particular form.
if its good or bad.. umm… like the tears of mary virgin. neither good nor bad i guess.. probably just showing a presence or giving a message.
im sorry for being so long, but 1 last thing is, i dnt force myself or anyone else, to believe such things really happened or what, but its just the faith and the moral of what is behind those myths which is important to me =)
yeah we all follow any religion in which we have faith. as a hindu, i tried to clarify a little bit, but hinduism being the oldest relion, and me being only 22yrs, lol, its not easy. i guess if we both came across this comment, it was due to our curiosity 😉 hope yours has somehow, been satisfied.

Thanks for your comment and curiosity. I apologize for the late reply. I haven’t really checked up on this page in years. Just happened to think of it today and realized people left comments. But I can completely understand where you are coming from, and I think much of your concerns and questions were appropriately and nicely responded to by Ups. But nevertheless I will give you y two cents on the topic at hand.
The tradition in which I belong, and probably the majority of the viewers of this website, is called Vaishnavism. It is a tradition which goes back thousands of years old, just as is believed the religion that God revealed in the Bible is said to go back. For the general masses, Vaishnavism is more or less thought of as being a sect within Hinduism. When most people think of Hinduism, they think of countless gods or goddesses, something that is polytheistic/pagan or pantheistic in nature. Vaishnavism however is quite different, it is Monotheistic (Belief in One Highest Supreme God) and it shares many of the same concepts and viewpoints that you would find in Christianity. Fundamentally and ideologically in a general sense, its not that different.
We believe that when there is a need on Earth, when religious principles have been compromised, and when there is a rise of irreligion, when pious devotees are being persecuted and harmed, at that time the Lord takes form on Earth for the purpose of re-establishing the tenets of religion, and liberate the pious from suffering. While Christianity acknowledges Lord Jesus Christ to be the incarnation of the Supreme who had come to liberate mankind from sin and suffering (as evidence countlessly throughout the Gospel of John and other books in the New Testament), Vaishnavism accepts that there is not just one incarnation that has appeared in this world, but countless. It is explained in the Srimad Bhagavatam, one of the core scriptures of Vaishnavism, that just as there are innumerable waves which emerge from the ocean, there are countless and innumerable incarnations which emerge from the Lord’s body.
One such incarnation is Lord Nrsimhadeva, who appeared in the form as half man-half lion (and its not just a random reason why that specific form, there is a rational and logical reason He manifested as such). Christianity generally acknowledges a more anthropomorphic form of God, meaning God with Human features. Vaishnavism also acknowledges that the original form of God is also human like, however it does not limit God to just Human form. God takes the form of even animals in creation. Within Vaishnava Tradition, God has manifested in the form of a fish, the form of a boar, lion-man, a swan, even horse-faced. While it may seem bizarre to someone outside the tradition to see God manifest in animal forms or in man-animal combination forms instead of just the form of a Human being, one can argue that why is it necessary that God be limited to only the Human aspect. If God is indeed omnipotent (all-powerful) and omnipresent (all-pervading), then no limitations can be placed on Him. If He so desires, He can manifest in whatever way and in whatever form He desires.
Now in regards to the blood. Generally in the west, we consider blood to be ominous or something that is disgusting, or related to death, suffering or injury. But you coming from the Christian Tradition would know that the use of blood and the symbolism behind blood is quite prominent both throughout the New Testament and Old. In the Jewish Tradition and in the Old Testament, Blood was a crucial element in Temple Worship. The blood of the animals was offered and sprinkled on the mercy seat of the Ark to atone for and wash away sins. According to St. Paul, this need to offer the blood of animals came to end with the death, crucifixion, and resurrection of Lord Christ. The blood He spilled during his Crucifixion was sufficient to cleanse the sins of all mankind. Hence Lord Christ is viewed by Christians as being the greatest and most perfect sacrifice for the purpose of washing away Sins. So taking this into consideration, blood isn’t always a negative thing or something that is associated with darkness or material suffering. In this case, the blood is a symbol of light, salvation, and goodness.
In the case of Lord Nrsimhadeva, the manifestation of blood can be seen in a positive light as well. Note, in my post, I wrote that the blood manifested not from the Lord, but from the body of the demon Hirenyakashipu. Hirenyakashipu was a terrible and horrific demon who tormented the Universe, and challenged God’s position. He terrorized anyone and everyone who would take the Lord’s name and who placed faith in the Lord. He spared no one, not even His own son who was only a child of five or six. This child was fully God conscious, and completely absorbed in His love for God, and His only business was to constantly meditate on the Lord and recite and repeat His holy name. At first the boy was threatened by His father, but this did not shake his faith. This due to his evil and arrogant nature, this demon tried repeatedly to end the life of his son in countless ways, whether that be to be thrown from a cliff, into a pit of venomous snakes, or even burned alive on a pyre. But each time no harm fall on the boy, He was saved by the Lord each time. Finally, the demon challenged the boy and his faith and asked where the Lord was present. The boy who was fully realized could see His Lord present in each atom of creation and gave that reply. The demon in frustration challenged the omnipresent nature of the Lord. And in response the Lord manifested from Column (showing that He indeed exists in every atom). A great battle ensued, and finally the Lord in His Man-Lion form dragged the demon the the threshold of the palace, and ended the demons life by ripping out His entrails with His claws (since He had appeared in the form of half lion-half man). I’ve often thought and reflected over the years why I witnessed this occurrence during the beginning stages of my devotional life, and at least how I have come to see it is, because I had surrendered to the Lord, the beginning of my spiritual and devotional life was the end of my life pursuing those activities that were atheistic and demonic in nature. Seeing that blood emerging from the demon’s body was a sign to me that just as the Lord ended the life of the demon for the sake of protecting His devotee, He too has manifested in this way to indicate to me that for the sake of protecting my faith and devotion to Him, He has put an end to the demonic qualities within me. That is the Lord’s nature and mercy. It is not that he slays and kills demons that is the most important point, but more that He slays those demonic qualities within the demon which in turn make him a demon. We Vaishnavas believe generally that though a person is a demon, if his death occurs by the hands of the Lord Himself, then He is automatically granted salvation. Why? Because in that process of death, the Lord has also given death to those qualities that in turn made him demonic. So this has been my realization over the years.
I hope this story makes more sense to you now, and also gives you a better understanding from my own reflections on this experience. Once again I greatly apologize for responding so late. But perhaps this was the Lord’s own desire. I am certain that if I had attempted to respond to your concerns years earlier, I would not have had the sufficient knowledge, understanding, and experience to do justice.

Karen I believe that you should be tolerant towards other religions. Just as i am tolerant towards Christianity, I believe that this should be the same for you. Also, I get the impression and feeling that because you are a christian, you tend to judge and form an opinion of others who do not belong to the same religion as you are!

No I did not see Sri Nrsimhadeva Face to Face, but saw Him in the form of the beautiful image I had of Him in my Altar. It is from that image that I experienced the flow of blood. It was the flow of blood that was the miracle, not a vision of Sri Nrsimhadeva. I still have the same image of Bhagavan enshrined in my altar, framed to preserve the stain. It is still present and you can see it, however over the years it has faded some. But for me it is still a strong and constant reminder of that experience, and fills me with love for Bhagavan, and reverence for Bhakta Raja Prahlada Maharaja.
