Preparing for Lord Caitanya’s Appearance!

Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in this age of Kali, the most fallen and degraded time, where practicing spiritual life is almost impossible due to the bad qualities of the age of Kali, and out of His great mercy He has given us the easiest process of spiritual advancement.

“Since Lord Caitanya is especially merciful to innocent, unsophisticated persons, His name is also Patitapāvana, the deliverer of the most fallen conditioned souls. Although a conditioned soul may be fallen to the lowest position, it is possible for him to advance in spiritual science if he is innocent.” (Prabhupada’s purport Bhagavad-gita 6.47)

In one sense this age, Kali-yuga is a difficult time, but in another sense, thanks to the unlimited mercy of Lord Caitanya and Srila Prabhupada, this Kali-yuga is the best and easiest time for making spiritual advancement and going back home back to Godhead:

kaler dosa-nidhe rajann asti hy eko mahan gunah
kirtanad eva krsnasya mukta-sangah param vrajet

“This age of Kali is an ocean of faults, but there is one great benefit, simply by chanting Hare Krishna on can be very easily liberated.” (Srimad-Bhagavatam 12.3.51)

Lord Caitanya has made it easy to become such a great soul. How? Simply by chanting Hare Krishna.

Even if there are so many dark things in our past lives Lord Caitanya’s mercy is open to us. There is no disqualification from Lord Caitanya’s mercy, we can all be saved. The purificatory process is chanting Hare Krishna. As soon as our heart is purified we will become completely convinced that Krishna is the Supreme Lord and we are His eternal servants.

We have forgotten that we are eternally servants of Krishna and instead we are serving our senses. We are not the masters of our senses; we are the servants of our senses. That is our position.

We have to serve, that is the way we are made, our constitutional positon. So why not serve Krishna? Actually we can become the master of our senses, but only when we become a servant of Krishna.

The science of Krishna consciousness is most ecstaticly and confidentially revealed by Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and soon we will be celebrating His appearance as Gaura Purnima.

Srila Prabhupada’s great undiscovered treasure is his magnificent seventeen volume set, Sri Caitanya-caritamrta. It is the life and teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Many are unawere of Caitanya-cartiamrta, and very few have actually read it.

Caitanya-caritamrta is an ocean of necatar because it describes the ecstatic pastimes of Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Krishna Himself, appearing as a devotee in the mood of Srimati Radharrani. So the teachings of Lord Caitanya in Caitanya-cartiamrta and the teachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam are identical. However Lord Caitanya is the most merciful incarnation of Krishna and His pastimes are very relishable and sweet and may be easier for us to relate to.
