Modern Day Miracles–Jesus Christ, God, and PRABHUPADA are NOT Dead!

A friend sent me these – they’re all about God and miracles… thought they might make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH BEFORE READING THIS.

There was an atheist couple who had a child. The couple never told their daughter anything about the Lord. One night when the little girl was 5 years old, the parents fought with each other and the dad shot the Mom, right in front of the child. Then, the dad shot himself. The little girl watched it all. She then was sent to a foster home. The foster mother was a Christian and took the child to church. On the first day of Sunday School, the foster mother told the teacher that the girl had never heard of Jesus, and to have patience with her. The teacher held up a picture of Jesus and said, “Does anyone know who this is?” The little girl said, “I do, that’s the man who was holding me the night my parents died.”

A young man who had been raised as an atheist was training to be an Olympic diver. The only religious influence in his life came from his outspoken Christian friend. The young diver never really paid much attention to his friend’s sermons, but he heard them often. One night the diver went to the indoor pool at the college he attended. The lights were all off, but as the pool had big skylights and the moon was bright, there was plenty of light to practice by. The young man climbed up to the highest diving board and as he turned is back to the pool on the edge of the board and extended his arms out, he saw his shadow on the wall. The shadow of his body, was in the shape of a cross. Seeing that image created such an unusual and strong response that instead of diving, he knelt down and finally asked God to come into his life. As the young man stood, a maintenance man walked in and turned the lights on. The pool had been drained for repairs.

Yes I do Love Jesus. He is my source of existence and Savior. He keeps me functioning each and everyday. Without him, I am nothing but with Him I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. -Phil 4:13

This is pretty deep….
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God
and then wonder why the world’s going to hell.

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say,
but question what the Bible says.

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven,
provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says.

Or is it scary?

Funny how someone can say “I believe in God” but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also “believes” in God)

Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me.

Jesus Loves You.

And it’s not just Christians who see the modern day miracles… I have personal experience and so do most devotees that Srila Prabhupada is living… We have seen the miracles ourselves so many times…

In 1989 after returning from India and seeing there was no place for me in ISKCON Australia I took two boxes of Srila Prabhupada’s books and purchased a bus ticket to Canberra. At that time there was no ISKCON temple there so I took encouragement from Srila Prabhupada. After buying the bus ticket I only had $1.00 left…

I arrived in Canberra late in the night and ended up in a shelter for the homeless, Ainsley Village. I stayed there for a few weeks distributing books in the city and in the next few months I experienced miracle after miracle… In a few weeks we had a very nice three bedroom house near the city as a temple, we had a Sunday Feast with 100+ guests coming every Sunday, at least half of them students from the Australian National University, we had a Food For Life program on Wednesdays feeding 100+ homeless people. The Salvation Army were giving us money to buy the food, the government gave us a “Food For Life” van and a nice grant to cover the costs of the food program and the running expenses of the van… And I was going out every day distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books. It was perhaps the most blissful experience I have ever had.

There were so many miracles, it came to the point that I was not even surprised when they happened. One Sunday I was cooking the feast in the temple. I was still incredibly poor. Krishna was sending the money to pay the bills, but no more than that. So I had no money at that time, not even a cent. Half-way through cooking the feast the gas ran out… I just looked at Srila Prabhupada and said: “OK. How are you going to get me out of this one?” And, right then, there was a knock at the back door. There was a young man there who introduced himself as “John.” He said he was my new neighbor from over the back fence. He said he had heard me chanting Hare Krishna and wondered if I had any of those “Srimad-Bhagavatams”? A devotee had sold him one some years before and he had lost it…

It just so happened that on the previous Friday an ISKCON devotee, Ananta Sesa Prabhu, had visited and, as was the custom, he left whatever books he had in his car with me so I had something to distribute… He left a partial set of Srimad Bhagavatam’s so I could happily say to John, “Yes, I’ve got some of those Srimad-Bhagavatams…” I showed them to him and he picked out two volumes and handed me $50. So not having much time to get the cooking finished I thanked him very much and rushed off to buy the LPG gas…

In these crazy times when we have the biggest leaders in ISKCON claiming “Prabhupada has been dead since 1977,” this email sent to me by a Christian made me think what would they say if the leader of their church said: “Jesus Christ has been dead for 2000 years…” It’s unthinkable. But we let the ISKCON leaders say this about Srila Prabhupada quite openly. And it has been going on since 1977. This is very offensive to Srila Prabhupada? Yet we do not hear any protest from those loud-mouth devotees who have set themselves up as the “Prabhupada experts” and have declared the Gurukulis and their lawyer to be the biggest offenders of Srila Prabhupada? Can they not see the real cause of the problem? Are they blind? Can they not see the GBC has been preaching “Prabhupada is dead.” ever since 1977…

“So he wanted this, and he is not… It is not that he is dead and gone. That is not spiritual understanding. Even ordinary living being, he does not die. Na hanyate hanyamane sarire. And what to speak of such exalted, authorized personality like Bhaktisiddhanta. He is seeing. I never feel that I am alone. Of course, when I came to your country without any friend, without any means… Practically, just like a vagabond I came. But I had full faith that “My Guru Maharaja is with me.” I never lost this faith, and that is fact. There are two words, vani and vapuh. Vani means words, and vapuh means this physical body. So vani is more important than the vapuh. Vapuh will be finished. This is material body. It will be finished. That is the nature. But if we keep to the vani, to the words of spiritual master, then we remain very fixed up. It doesn’t matter. Just like Bhagavad-gita. It was spoken five thousand years ago. But if you keep to the words of Krsna, then it is always fresh and guiding. Not that because Arjuna personally listened to Krsna about the instruction of Bhagavad-gita, therefore he knew it. That is not the fact. If you accept Bhagavad-gita as it is, then you should know that Krsna is present before you in His words in the Bhagavad-gita. This is called spiritual realization. It is not mundane historical incidences. If we keep…

evam parampara-praptam
imam rajarsayo viduh
sa kaleneha (mahata)
yogo nastah parantapa

If you don’t keep in touch with the original link, then it will be lost. And if you keep touch with the original link, then you are directly hearing Krsna. Similarly, Krsna and Krsna’s representative, spiritual master, if you keep always intact, in link with the words and instruction of the superior authorities, then you are always fresh. This is spiritual understanding. Na jayate na mriyate va kadacit nityah sasvato ‘yam purano. Puranah means very old. Just like Krsna, the Supreme Being. He must be very old because He is the original person. But the Brahma-samhita says, advaita acyuta anadi ananta-rupam adyam purana-purusa nava-yauvanam ca. Purana-purusa, the oldest person, but you will find Him nava-yauvanam ca, always a fresh youth. That is God. God is not a material, that it gets old. The body gets old.

So you are hearing this philosophy daily. Try to understand more and more. We have got so many books. And this is the mission of Caitanya Mahaprabhu and, by disciplic succession, Bhaktivinoda Thakura, then my spiritual master. Then we are trying our level best. Similarly, you will also try your level best on the same principle. Then it will go on. Same principle. It doesn’t matter whether one is born in India or outside India. No. When Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, prthivite ache yata nagaradi-grama, “As many towns and cities and villages are there,” He did not say it to make a farce. He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. So sometimes I am very much criticized that I am making foreigners a brahmana. The caste brahmanas in India, they are very much against me. But this is not fact. When Caitanya Mahaprabhu said that all over the world His message will be broadcast, does it mean that it will be simply a cinema show? No. He wanted that everyone should become perfect Vaisnava. That is His purpose. It is not to make a farce, some lecturing and…, or some mutual praising society. No. It is Krishna Society. Everyone who will join this Krishna Society movement, he is more than a brahmana. Brahmana, what is brahmana? Brahmana is also material. A devotee is more than brahmana. The brahminical culture is included already. Brahma janatiti brahmanah:Brahmana means one who knows the Absolute Truth, Brahman.” He is brahmana. But that is not very fixed up. Brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate. Brahman is impersonal effulgence, and then further progress, realization of the localized aspect, Paramatma, Antaryami, and finally, understanding the Supreme Person, Krsna, Supreme Person, that is the final understanding.

So people cannot understand that how the Supreme, the origin of everything, can be a person. That is their difficulty. Because they are thinking, “A person, God? How it is possible. God is great, and He is the creator of everything. How a person can do that?” Yes. That is the Vedic version.

isvarah paramah krsnah
sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah
anadir adir govindah
sarva-karana-karanam

He is the cause of Brahman. He is the cause of Supersoul. So ordinary man cannot understand. Avajananti mam mudha manusim tanum asritam. It requires Krsna’s grace to understand Him.

So try to receive Krsna’s grace through the disciplic succession, Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Then you will understand everything. Yasya deve para bhaktir yatha deve tatha gurau. This is the process, Vedic process. One should have unflinching faith in God and spiritual master. Don’t jump over God, crossing the spiritual master. Then it will be failure. You must go through. We are observing Vyasa-puja ceremony, the birth anniversary of our Guru Maharaja. Why? We cannot understand Krsna without spiritual master. That is bogus. If anyone wants to understand Krsna, jumping over the spiritual master, then immediately he becomes a bogus. Therefore Caitanya Mahaprabhu says, guru- krsna-krpaya paya bhakti-lata-bija. That is Vedic injunction. Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya. Nobody can understand Krsna without going through His most confidential servant. This is the meaning of this Vyasa-puja. You cannot surpass. If you think that you have become very learned and very advanced, now you can avoid the spiritual master and you understand Krsna, that is the bogus. That is the meaning of this Vyasa-puja ceremony. We should always pray, yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasadah. Yasya prasadad, only by the grace of spiritual master we can achieve the grace or mercy of Krsna. This is the meaning of this Vyasa- puja, offering obeisances by parampara system.

So you have taken a very nice line of activities, spiritual activities. Of course, as far as possible, we have tried to give you instruction, books. But remain always faithful to the spiritual master and try to understand Krsna. And if you simply understand Krsna, then your life is successful. Janma karma ca divyam me yo janati tattvatah. The human life is meant for understanding Krsna. That is the perfection of life. Any other so-called understanding, that is simply waste of time because we are under the grip of the material nature. You may be very learned scholar. You may be a fool. It doesn’t matter. You are under the laws of material nature. So before finishing this small span of life… We have got this human form of life. It will be finished, as the cats’ and dogs’ life also finished. But if we try through the guru and Vaisnava, then, we can achieve in this life the full success, not failure like cats’ and dogs’ life. That is the opportunity. So as far as possible, we are trying to lead you in this line, and you kindly follow. Then your life will be successful. That is the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He wanted to deliver these fallen souls, the conditioned souls rotting in this material world. So Krsna Himself… Krsna comes Himself, Krsna sends His devotees, Krsna comes as devotee–just to execute this mission to reclaim the fallen souls from the clutches of illusory energy, material world.

Thank you very much. (end) Srila Prabhupada[750302BA.ATL]

Madhudvisa, the search feature on the prabhupadabooks.com site isn’t working.

  2. Radhika says:

Prabhupada always says that we should change our association and live around pure devotees. But the problem is that I am a teenager whose friends mainly talk about atheism. And even though I have friends who pray to God but only for help- God please help me get good grades and so on.

I have tried to introduce the message of Krishna Consciousness and while some of them agreed but they still, like the others, believe in atheism. In my classes, teachers say that for the results of your entrance exams only you are responsible for it. Only you can take the credit and only you can take the blame. They say that all us students should really think about is ” I, me and myself” if we really want good grades to atleast get admission in a medical college. And prabhupada teaches us that Krishna is controlling everything. It is false ego to assume that you are the doer of something and you are getting the credit of your hard work.

Now I cannot stop going to classes nor can I avoid talking to people. My family believes in Krishna Consciousness though but they are quite busy people. Now that I am full time preparing for my entrance exams, trying to chant along the way and remembering Krishna, I feel that I am going wrong somewhere. You were lucky to have met someone like prabhupada but I have not been fortunate enough to meet any self-realised soul in person and learn from him. And of course Srila Prabupada’s books are there but sometimes I think I am not able to embark on my spiritual journey properly. As in for sometime I am but then when I am associated with all of friends, my work, then I sometimes don’t actively follow Krishna Consciousness. It is more of an on-off thing. However I do believe in it all the time.

So my main problem is that I cannot change my association, I have to prepare for my exams then what should I do to properly work on developing Krishna Consciousness?

    • Hare Krishna Radhika

Yes. We should live in the association of devotees if that is possible, but if not we have to manage. Prabhupada himself was a householder and for many years a businessman, so during those years he also did not have the opportunity of living in the association of devotees and he was associating with materialists to do his business and in his family, etc. So we have to learn how to be Krishna conscious in all circumstances. Main thing is to chant Hare Krishna mantra every day at least 16 rounds, follow the four regulative principles and read Srila Prabhupada’s books. If we do these things regularly and without fail then even though we have to do so many other things in our lives like you have to study for your exams, etc, we will still be able to remember Krishna and somehow we will be able to turn everything in our lives into service for Srila Prabhupada and Krishna.

So you have to do both things, you have to maintain your spiritual life and your material life also. So just do it, keep on chanting Hare Krishna, reading Prabhupada’s books and following the principles and also do what you have to do in your material life like studying for your exams, going to school, etc.

I never had the chance to meet Srila Prabhupada physically. I only know Srila Prabhupada through reading his books, listening to his classes and watching the video recordings we have of him. So your position is no different to my position. You can also associate with Srila Prabhupada by reading his books and following the instructions he gives you as you read. So you just have to do these things and gradually you will become a pure devotee of Krishna, even though at the same time you are working to maintain the material side of your life as well.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

I’ve enjoyed perusing this website. Recently, I walked through the street, a man was sharing the Bhagavad Gita, offering the book to passers by. Normally, I would continue walking. I stopped to talk to the chap briefly, gave him a donation for the book and decided I should read it.

Then I wondered about Buddha. What are the foundations for this faith or religion? What about the rest?

It would appear throughout history, including Jesus, there have been more than one spiritual teacher. Furthermore, many of these teachers have been returning.

Our world, our beliefs are so vast and can be so different, yet the one thing common to us all, is the relationship with god, living in, building that relationship with, and experiencing god. I believe, it is shedding the ego in any religion that allows the true experience with god. The Bhagavad Gita makes sense and so does the bible.

Once the experience of god is felt, that is like euphoria, a wake up call that forces you to remove your blind fold. It is then, one begins to understand miracles. They have no size, they cannot be measured. The true miracle is ‘feeling’ the presence of god. It cannot be described to do it justice.

I believe god had to give us more than one pathway. I living on the other side of the world, according to my upbringing, would have no idea what Krishna was about (until now of course), or know anything about the teachings of Buddha. I certainly could not judge as one religion or faith being correct or incorrect, for this is not a god principle, but I believe that god wanted us to find our way back to him, one way or another.

If there was only one way, one path, the majority of the world would suffer and perish, i.e. only a tiny percentage would ascend, whichever way one understands that, according to their belief.

God had to have a master plan.

  5. dwaraka says:

in my opinion god is one and only one according to hindu religion the characteristics of god is given in vedas. in Rig veda thandia bharahmam the sloka is their

” sarva papa pariharo raktha prokshanam avasham
tad rakthi na parmatmena puna rakthena avaskam”

this sloka says to remove sin from world blood to be shed in this world and it is necessary and that blood is defenitely a blood of parmatmena ( creater of this world ) is to be shed.

from this sloka it is concluded that jesus is only one god he came to satisfy the scriptures and their is no other way for repentence for sin.

bible is simple holy book every human can understand easily and it is only book to talk with god ( jesus always talk with people through bible ) . dont belive everything blindly friends first experience than say to every one.

jesus said no religion will take to you heaven unless you are sin free. accepting jesus as your saviour accept your sins in front of lord you will become sinless and peace come in your heart.

  6. Dalreen says:

I love & believe in Jesus & I’m speaking to Jesus daily to see him. Why can’t I see him still. If Jesus Loves me a lot why can’t he grant my fever 🙁

Srila Prabhupada is not dead!! Please listen the story how I bacome a devotee.
It was a chrismast eve night, 24. decembar 1982. I was a karmi girl in the age of 21. Few months before that night I bought Bhagavad gita in the book store and read it. That very night on 24.dec.1982. I was walking with my mother (later she bacame Bahlika devi dasi) about midnight toward our home and we were talking about my future. I told my mother that I have found all answers in Bhagavad gita, that I trully belive it and that I am going to consider Krsna consciousness as my religion trought the whole life, but I decided to NOT surenderr in this very life time. My mother was satisfied by my plans and we enetered our home. We went to sleep around 2 o clock in the morning. One hour later about 3 o clock in the morning I heard a man voice calling me by my name “Dina, Dina…” I woke up and seat on my bad, breathless. By the left side of my bad a man in shafron robes was standing. He had a big shall over his shoulders. Then he told me “You did this in your previous life. This is a liftime you have to surrender!” At 4.15 that very night I packed my things, left my home, parents, frineds..I left everything, my whole life and joined nearest temple. I came on mangala aratic. Than In the temple room I recognized Srila Prabhupada on the pictures. It was 30 years ago and till today I had few more darshans with His Divine Grace. All glories to Srila Prabhupada, our eternal spiritual master! Yours humbly in the service of Srila Prabhupada Daivi Shakti devi dasi

    • You just accept these things. There are 400,000 species of human life. There is no way you can find them. That is in the whole universe. And you are just on this tiny earth planet. How can you possibly find them?

  9. Georgie says:

    Hello All,

I was orginally researching about miracles, but then I stumbled across this debate.

I agree, and disagree, respectfully to the points some of you are making.Everybody has the right to be faithfull about their faith, but being faithfull does not include looking down on people and being disrespectfull about other religons.

I do go to the church of England church weekly with my parents, but I still am a fan of science. For example, my mother was brought up by catholic parents, and went to a cathloic school run by nuns. Yet she ended up still keeping to christianty , and getting degrees in science and then became a midwife. Science and religon do not have to fight all the time.

In todays soiecty people mainly think god does not exist, to the extent where at primary school I was teased for reading the bible, and knowing the lords prayer. This is wrong.

Everybody needs a faith. If it’s science, religon or Star Wars. We need to get along together or we are going to tear each other apart.

    Thank you for reading,

hi my name is david. we are so used to this world to were we have to see to beleive. i understand these things cause i am human to. but to take a leap of faith and to trust jesus is one thing. you have to get away from the natural and get into the supernatural. some dont beleive cause they cant see, but we dont see a headach or a virus but yet we dont argue that those are not real. cant see the wind but we still beleive that its their. you see thats how god is you cant see him right now but you can feel him jst like when the wind blows. you look at a women when she carries a baby that it self is a miracle. someone knew that we needed good clean air so their for we have trees. some oone knew we needed people. you see god knew what we needed before we was put here.if miracles dont happen to you than its not real but if they did then you will beleive right?just give jesus a chance and just ask him to show you something to establish your goinsi know he will he did for me i know he will for you just seek and you will find

  13. Zane says:

    Praise the Lord,
    Hare Krsna.

Thanks for Sharing, Jesus is the Personality of GodHead and So in Krishna.
Jesus is the Incarnate of Krishna.

So Praise Jesus and Be Happy!

There’s so much similarities between the 2 and with common sense, research and study of the Holy Scriptures you can come to the conclusion that Jesus is Krishna !!!
I mean, just look at them. Krishna is always depicted with the Cows, as Gopala, protector of the Cows, a Cow Herder.
Jesus, “The Lamb of God” Many times depicted as a Shepherd.

Miracles? Many could say Krishna performed miracles as a Child why there’s no account of Jesus doing such. Well there is, not just because it isn’t in teh bible doesn’t mean there’s no account of it!
In the Infant Gospel of Thomas, http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/text/infancythomas-a-mrjames.html.

They Bother, performed miracles, Died and Rose again, they both had similar lives.
Krishna is known as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and in the western world, Jesus is the personality of God.
Some religious people think that God cannot have a personality.. He’s without Form. Well look at the Hindu’s. Krishna is called God, as the personality of Godhead. So is Jesus, as the Personality of Godhead.

As for the many God’s and Goddesses of hinduism, I believe they are just angels. Think about it, many of these Gods are known to have a high influence in the world and in a sense “closer” material world. Doesn’t that sound familiar to the Christian’s Angels? I mean I’m sure they don’t even have the name Angel in Hinduism, the demigods is just Angel in the same context but different word!

So Priase the Son of God, the personality of Godhead, Yeshua Christ.
    Sri Krishna and be happy.

    Hare Krsna

  16. rahul says:

Do you believe all the Divine Souls may roam the earth again, when? now? for what purpose? looking for whom?

    • Hare Krishna Rahul

Krishna Himself comes and also sends His pure devotees time and time again and the purpose is to reestablish the principles of religion that are always lost after some time.

That is the nature of the material world. Time destroys everything, even the religious principles. So Krishna and His pure devotees come back to the material world time and time again to re-establish the religious principles. They are not exactly looking for anyone in particular but are making the Absolute Truth available to everyone. Of course some will accept and some will reject. That is the minute independence of the living entities. God does not force us to serve Him, to love Him. He gives us the chance and lets us make our own decision.

Krishna also appears to protect the devotees and to kill the demons.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

    • Hare Krishna Smitha

I am not a Hindu and I do not believe in Hinduism.

The word Hindu is not a word that you can find anywhere in the Vedas. It is a word given by the Muslims. It is their word to describe the people who live on the other side of the Indus river. And it means nothing more than that. A generic term describing the people in India. There is no such thing as the “Hindu religion” or the “Hindu dharma.” Because Hindu just means the people who live in India and that includes so many different philosophies and religions and atheists also. And you know that. There is nothing really that all Hindus share in common. It is a generic “bucket” that contains many different things.

We are Vaisnavas. Krishna bhaktas. This is not a “religion.” It is non-sectarian. It is sanatana-dharma. It is the eternal occupation of the living entities. And we are simply trying to encourage the people of the world to return to their eternal occupation of serving God.

The idea of the Hindus that there are many gods and that all the gods are equal is completely incorrect and has no basis whatsoever in the Vedas.

There are three types of living entities only. Jiva-tattva [like us, ordinary living entities], Siva-tattva [a special category that only Lord Shiva is] and Visnu-tattva [the Supreme Lord: Krishna, Visnu and other actual incarnations of God]. There are “Demigods” who are empowered personalities who have control of specific aspects of the material world. So they have power, but only within the material world. In most cases these demigods are ordinary jiva-tattva living entities like you or me who have become very qualified so they have got these higher positions in the material world as demigods. Generally the Hindus unfortunately and completely incorrectly lump the demigods and the actual incarnations of God together and say they are all the same and worshipping any of them gives the same result.

This is how the Hindus have come up with this incorrect idea that there are many gods. There is only one God, Krishna. And He expands in different forms. So He manifests different personalities in the Visnu-tattva froms, but God is one.

As far as Jesus he appeared in the Western world and of course is the son of God. But even Jesus had to travel to India to learn the philosophy that he preached. So what Jesus has given us is not different from Krishna consciousness. It is also Krishna consciousness. It is just presented in a language and style that the people he was preaching to could understand. And Lord Jesus Christ himself said: “There are so many things I can not tell you…” because the people at that time could only understand spiritual life to certain point. So that is all Jesus could give them. If any Christian wants a more in-depth description of the teachings of Jesus that can be found in the Vedas.

it should not matter how long it takes … it should only matter that you love god and will ever go back to him … no matter what, we all eventually go back and be with him, but it depends on how much we want it and how much we love god … that is how fast it will happen when in your heart and mind is god then you will go to him … also we should only focus on how to serve him and not be selfish in our duty and not wanting things from god for he has given us all we need and want … if we want god he will give that …

      • It will only happen by the mercy of his pure devotee spiritual master. Otherwise if he does not have a pure devotee as his spiritual master it will never ever happen. We can only please Krishna by pleasing His pure devotees. That is the way, that is the only way… We can not get Krishna without the mercy of Krishna’s pure devotee…

    • Hare Krishna Jude

Our job in this world is to render service.

There are only two ways we can render service. One is to render service to God or Krishna, the other is to render service to Satan or maya.

So we are created to render service. That is our nature, or dharma. We are eternally servants.

The perfection of our life is if we surrender to Krishna [God] and serve him.

what is the best time to chant?
i have heard that it is good to chant between 4 and 5 pm but what do you suggest?

    • Hare Krishna

Any time is good for chanting Hare Krishna. The best thing is to chant Hare Krishna 24 hours a day.

But the Brahma-muhurta is a particularly auspicious time in the day which is a very good time for chanting Hare Krishna.

Brahma muhurta starts 1.5 hours before sunrise and runs for about 45 minutes.

So if you chant say from 4-6 AM then you will catch the Brahma-muhurta and that will be very auspicous. But it is auspicious to chant Hare Krishna at any time, day or night.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

  33. devotee says:

    thank you for your answer
but i just gave an exam which did not go so well but my other exams went very well. By chanting, will Krishna help me get better marks?
PS: I always write the ‘OM’ sign on the top of my paper before starting my exam

    • We do not chant Hare Krishna to get better results on our exams.

To get better results on your exams you should study and learn the subject matter.

What do you expect Krishna to do for you? Pick up your pen and do the exam for you?

That is not the way Krishna works. Krishna has given you a brain if you want to pass the exam learn the material. If you know the material you will pass the exam.

But chanting Hare Krishna will help you because chanting Hare Krishna will make your mind peaceful and undisturbed and you will be able to concentrate better on the subject.

But the mood of chanting Hare Krishna should not be one of chanting Hare Krishna on the expectation that if I chant Hare Krishna nicely Krishna will do something for me like help me pass an exam. That is not becoming the servant of Krishna. That is an attempt to make Krishna your servant.

A devotee does not want to ask Krishna to do anything for himself. His only prayer to Krishna is Krishna–Please engage me in Your service. We need to cultivate this mood when chanting Hare Krishna.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

    Hare Krishna, PAMHO, AGTSP.

Miracles, Mystic Power or Acintya Sakti.

Morning Walk Recorded on May 7, 1973, Near Los Angeles

Śrīla Prabhupāda: “…the real question is, “Where have the chemicals come from?” The chemicals come from life, and this means that life has mystic powers. For example, an orange tree contains many oranges, and each orange contains chemicals—citric acid and others. So where have these chemicals come from? Obviously they have come from the life within the tree. The scientists are missing the origin of the chemicals. They have started their investigation from the chemicals, but they cannot identify the origin of the chemicals. Chemicals come from the supreme life—God. Just as the living body of a man produces many chemicals, the supreme life (the Supreme Lord) is producing all the chemicals found in the atmosphere, in the water, in humans, in animals and in the earth. And that is called mystic power…..

…Anyone can see that an ordinary tree is producing many chemicals. But how does it produce them? Since the scientists cannot answer this, they must accept that the living force has mystic power. I cannot even explain how my fingernail is growing out of my finger; it is beyond the power of my brain. In other words, my fingernail is growing by inconceivable potency, acintya-śakti. So if acintya-śakti exists in an ordinary human being, imagine how much acintya-śakti God possesses. The difference between God and me is that although I have the same potencies as God, I can produce only a small quantity of chemicals, whereas He can produce enormous quantities. I can produce a little water in the form of perspiration, but God can produce the seas. Analysis of one drop of seawater gives you the qualitative analysis of the sea, without any mistake. Similarly, the ordinary living being is part and parcel of God, so by analyzing the living beings we can begin to understand God. In God there is great mystic potency. God’s mystic potency is working swiftly, exactly like an electric machine. Some machines operate by electrical energy, and they are so nicely made that all the work is done simply by pushing a button. Similarly, God said, “Let there be creation,” and there was creation. Considered in this way, the workings of nature are not very difficult to understand. God has such wonderful potencies that the creation, on His order alone, immediately takes place….

…God exists, and His acintya-śakti also exists. Where does a bird’s power to fly come from? Both you and the bird are living entities, but the bird can fly because of its acintya-śakti, and you cannot. To give another example, semen is produced from blood. A man has mystic power in his body so that because he is sexually inclined, blood is transformed into semen. How is this done unless there is some mystic power involved? There are many mystic powers in the living entities. The cow eats grass and produces milk. Everyone knows this, but can you take some grass and produce milk? Can you? Therefore there is mystic power within the cow. As soon as the cow eats grass, she can transform it into milk. Men and women are basically the same, but as a man you cannot eat food and produce milk, although a woman can. These are mystic powers.

…You cannot produce milk from dry grass in your laboratory. Within your body, by mystic power, you can transform food into blood and tissue, but in your laboratory, without mystic power, you cannot even transform grass into milk. Therefore you must accept the existence of mystic power.

…..Yogīs are mainly concerned with developing different mystic powers. A yogī can walk on the water without drowning. The law of gravity does not operate on him. That is a mystic power called laghimā. Laghimā means that a person can become lighter than cotton and counteract the law of gravity. The yoga system simply develops the inconceivable potency already present in the practitioner. These boys are swimming [gesturing to surf bathers], but I cannot swim. Yet that swimming power is potential within me; I simply have to practice it. So, if yogic power is so potent in the human being, think how much more yogic power God has. Therefore, in the Vedas He is called Yogeśvara, which means “master of all mystic power.” In the Bhagavad-gītā (10.8) Krishna says, aham sarvasya prabhavo mattah sarvam pravartate: “I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me.” Unless we accept this statement from God, there is no conclusive explanation to the origin of material nature. God cannot be understood without accepting the existence of mystic power, but if you understand God scientifically, then you will understand everything.

…Our conclusions are not based on blind faith; they are most scientific. Matter comes from life. In life—in the origin—there are unlimited material resources; that is the great mystery of creation. If you drop a needle, it will fall immediately, but a bird weighing several pounds can float in the air. We must establish the origin of this floating. If we study nature, we find that every living entity has some mystic power. A man cannot live within the water for more than a few hours, yet a fish lives there continuously. Is that not mystic power?

…all the mystic powers exist in God, the origin of everything. I derive some of His mystic power, you derive some, and the birds derive some. But the storehouse of mystic power is God.”

In the name of the God I love and serve, I ask my warrior brothers to wake up and do what you have been sent to do on earth. The end is very very near. Pray to Divine Mother Durgaa and beg her to show you the path you need to take.

Most of this humanity, the Aryan race, will perish. Only true servants of Lord Vishnu, who have worked on themselves by annihilating the egos, will be saved.

Remember this my brothers…Ignorance is a sin. NEVER accept what is written in books and follow blindly. Test it and ascertain the facts…only then you accept them.

U can meet the Gods in astral. To get in astral, you need to eliminate the egos (Anger, pride, laziness, fear, envy, lust, greed).

Check the book that is obtained freely from this site (http://www.hercolubus.tv). It contains the keys to help you meet God. Try it, ascertain the facts and then you will know for sure.

Btw Lord Jesus is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

To Madhudvisa dasa: My brother, if you really believe you are a servant of Lord Krishna and truly want to meet Him above all things, try what is said in the book and you will be amazed. I stand by what I have written. You have about a year before destruction of this world begins.

  38. Rational Choice

The philosopher David Hume’s skepticism of the opinion that “miracle” is only valid in ancient times, for people who do not know the science.
Miracles were never seen by the smart and witnessed by many people.
Every religion claims of miracles, so hard to have a deal.
In principle: how the miracle can be explained by reason that the truth of the miracles that can be accounted for and strengthen faith.
Whatever the rationale for the Philosopher David Hume Skepticism, the main issue of how religious people look at the miracle itself.
God does not completely take over the duties and responsibilities of people in this world.
Miracles as a sign of salvation from God to strengthen faith, people realize that even the more intelligent people and creating high-tech yasng but God remains all-powerful. God keep and protect the human race. Because God wants all men are created will have eternal life.

    • Eboria says:

I’m sorry, but there is a big difference between coincidence and “miracles”. Coincidences can seem miraculous when their outcomes are favorable. I’m also trying to look up modern miracles and I’ve yet to find a “part of the red sea” or “the sun stands still for a day” or “Man turns water into wine”. These types of phenomenon only seem to occur in the bible – or any number of religious writings, or in fairy tales. As for the anecdotes in the beginning of this site, these kinds of stories have been circulating for years, no actual evidence, no facts to back them up, no kind of proof whatsoever.
I’m not trying to knock religion in general my attitude is whatever gets you through the day is fine. I’m only pointing out that people who’s attitudes lean towards religion are quick to see the miraculous in the mundane because they are used to taking thing on faith. The rest of us need a little more evidence and i haven’t seen any on this site.
      Sorry.

      • Dr.Dre x says:

Have you ever been to church? have you ever read the bible? if not how can you understand a religion that you have no faith in. Its funny how you could believe what the newspapers say but you cannot believe that their is a GOD who loves you no matter what. You obviously have no faith in yourself so i understand why you cant have faith in something that is bigger and greater than all human beings put together. You ovbiously need to get your facts right cause there are plenty on evidence that God is real. If you believe in him then hes real but if you have no faith then hunny i feel sorry for you cause you is going to hell if you keep acting stubborn and selfish cause if you can’t see whats infront of you then you have issues. NO OFFENSE

about and WE believe it and it makes sense. With all the splendour of the universe where is the doubt GOD (I AM)is in control.

        • john eagle says:

Dr.Dre x.. Speaking of not understanding your religion… Spend a few years (or decades) researching the original translations and meanings of the scriptures which you claim such knowledge of on the subjects of “Hell”. One problem with non-believers is that they are really put off by the so called believers that believe whatever is close, familiar, or that they reached out to in desperation. a Christian believer in Mexico, or a Muslim believer in Saudi Arabia are examples. Are they believing because it’s familiar, convenient, and furthers their social, economic, and other agendas? A person who believes out of desperation is also suspect. Would he/she have become a Muslim, Jew, Hindu, etc. if that was the most visible option at their most vulnerable and desperate moment. so before criticizing another please examine the plank in your own eye.

I have great respect for christ, i am confused.
    What is the truth?

    • Hare Krishna Sharma

We respect Lord Jesus Christ and his teachings. But his so-called followers are not following him and have no idea at all what he is teaching. When he was young Jesus was disgusted with the animal killing that was going on in the Jewish temples under the guise of religion. Jesus taught “Thou shalt not kill,” but his so-called followers, the Christians, have created the best slaughterhouses in the world. So although we have full respect for the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ we can not take these so-called Christians at all seriously, nor do they have any idea at all about the teachings of Jesus.

As far as this “the world is ending and Jesus will come back to save his followers.” It is hard to find even one person who is following Jesus, so even if he does come back he will not be saving many and it will be a great surprize to the so-called “Christians” who Jesus saves!

But we have information from the Vedas that we are only in the beginning of Kali-yuga. This age will run for 432,000 years and so far we have only passed just over 5,000 years. So that leaves 427,000 years of the Kali-yuga to go. At the end of this time there will be a partial devastation of the universe, so some people may think this will be the end of the world, but it is not the end actually. Everything will be rejuvenated and another satya-yuga, or golden age will start again. It is just like the seasons. The material world is temporary in that it is sometimes manifest and sometimes not manifest, but it is going on in an eternal cycle.

So in short the world is not going to end for a very, very long time. As the kali-yuga progresses, however, things will get worse and worse, at the end of the Kali-yuga men will only be 2 feet tall and if they live to the age of 20 they will be considered grand old men and there will be a terrible smell coming from them. There will be no more food in the mode of goodness. No fruits, no grains, no milk products, only meat. So it will get bad, but the universe is not going to end for a very long time and even then it will continue after the partial devastation.

The truth is very difficult to find however you will find it very easily in the books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada which you can get at:

      • Francois says:

Only God knows when His Son Jesus will return, no person or idea knows the time but the Bible gives guidlines when it is the beginning of the last days. Christianity is inwardly, your spirit connecting with God’s Spirit, if you are not filled with the Spirit of God it will make no sense to you, if you want to be filled and understand everything it begins with a prayer “Jesus have mercy on me, i am a sinner. come into my heart and make yourself real to me. Amen”.

It is not our good works that takes us to heaven, it is accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. It is not our sin that takes us to hell, it is not accepting Jesus as your Lord that takes you to hell. Jesus died and paid the price for your sin, your sins are removed from you for ever when you accept Him into your heart and life. We are all sinners, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.

God Bless you with His love.

        • Sooraj says:

The so called Christians keep committing sins and expect Lord Jesus to take away their sins and suffer for their sins.. This is not at all love.. If one truely loves Jesus he should strictly follow his commandments and not modify his commandments to suit their sense gratification and then finally expect Jesus to take away their sins. The Hare Krishna’s truely follow all the commandments of Jesus and they are the real Christians. Whom Jesus referred to as My Heavenly Father is none other than Lord Krishna. In Bhagavad Gita (14.4) Lord Krishna says- “It should be understood that all species of life, o son of kunti, are made possible by birth, in this material nature and Im the seed giving Father” Lord also says (BG 7.8)-“There is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread”

So it is beyond doubt that Lord Krishna is the supreme personality of Godhead and He is the one who is being referred to as The Heavenly Father by Jesus.

          • Siva Saripilli says:

Please do not complain on people who follow / who do not follow the instructions of any particular religion or faith. Vaishnavism is for one’s ownself. Similarly every belief is for one’s ownself. I’m a vaishnav myself and I go through bhagavad gita, bhagavatam as well as bible. I found that the essence of all scriptures are the same. “Trust GOD 100%. Follow the principles that are mentioned in the scriptures.” That’s all. Rest GOD will take care. According to HG Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, pray KRISHNA to bless us with uninterrupted Devotional service and surrender unto him 100%. According to Bible, accept our sins and ask JESUS to forgive our sins and surrender unto him. So, no matter whom you believe, believe 100% and surrender unto him 100%. That’s the key…. Bitching about Christians who won’t follow the true instructions or Vaishnavs who don’t follow the true instructions of Srila Prabhupada doesn’t make any sense to me. Show the true path to everyone. To follow or not to, depends on everyone’s individual interpretation. And moreover, true devotion is blessed by GOD himself to only a chosen few. So, let’s leave that decision to him and follow his path and try to achieve his supreme abode.

One more thing is that, JESUS says never ill-talk about anyone. The first culprit of our body is our eyes and the next is our mouth. We have to speak only the praises of GOD… That’s exactly what Bhagavatam also says. Of course in more depth… KRISHNA never is happy of “NINDA” which means ill-talking about anyone no matter even if they are your enemy…. Forgive everyone and try using eyes, ears and mouth to see, hear and speak only the PRAISES OF THE LORD and try uses the senses in the service of the LORD.

jesus has not revealed the complete truth to the christians bcos the people whom he taught were so sinful that he atleast wanted to raise them to the platform of humans from animals. jesus said- there are many more things i want to tell you but you are not ready for it.
the complete truth is revealed in the vedas which declares lord krishna as the supreme god. and lord krishna himself declares this in the bhagavad gita- there is no truth superior to me. everything rests upon me as pearls are strung on a thread.
if you sincerely follow the original commandments of jesus and stop killing animals for food then jesus will be pleased and he will show you the path towards the heavenly father lord krishna.

        • bebee says:

you say that by killign naimals we’re not following jesus but jesus said in the biblt we have dominion over ALL things therefore he has given us the power to kill and eat animals if we so desire…. just syaing…

          • Hayley says:

not exactly. The Bible says not to eat animals with hooves. THat is why humans do not digest red meat well:)

    • Priya says:

Hey Shama, Y be confused. Look I am a girl who wud not follow something just becoz someone told me abt it. I asked Jesus to show me the truth. I am born to a Jain family. And i love the faith i found in Jesus. I found that He is LIVING even today. He is alive and which means he walks with me and talks with me. His gentle Holy Spirit teaches us even today. Ask HIM and not anyone else. Close ur room sit quietly and ask Him Jesus please come into my heart and make me new. Give me heaven as a free gift. Oh how i love him, becoz HE FIRST LOVED me!!!!!!!!!

      • Siddhartha says:

        @Priya. Praise God.
Only the one who has tasted His fruit would know His sweetness.

The truth you have received, by His Grace, be multiplied in more of Him in you life. I pray, that His presence be multiplied.

For there is nothing compared to His Love. No one ever could sacrifice Himself and portray the ultimate love.

As the Lord says, “Love your God with all your might, all your heart and all your soul”, there is no greater commandment than this.

May the Lord keep you, preserve you and work in you and work through you.

        Amen.

    • Karen says:

IT’s jesus christ my freind. the enemy has put troubles and confusion into your heart and brain.

    • john eagle says:

Shama… I am a Christian and a lot of Christians are really confused about a lot of things (Aren’t we all!! .. Ha!!). Every religion has it’s confused, annoying, sometimes dangerous zealots. Do as the words of Christ tells you… The Kingdom of God is within. Not in your friends, not in endless religious discussions, not anywhere else but within YOU!

how can you prove any of these, i am sat in an religious studies lesson researching miracles, i dont belive in god or heaven and this seems like total crap !!

    • lapatse smith says:

Well, these are amazing stories and I am a true believer of Christ because many miracles have happened in my life that was only caused by Jesus himself so those that doesn’t believe, I know God will have mercy on your souls because unlike us humans he is a merciful God!!!!!!!

      • Ernest says:

        lapatse,
How do you know that the miracles in your life were exclusively caused by Jesus?

        • Francois says:

You don’t understand it because you are not filled with God’s spirit, the Holy Spirit. If you want to be saved and receive the Holy Spirit just pray “God have mercy on me, I am a sinner, fill me with your Holy Spirit”.

          • Hanni says:

But surely then if God was benevolent he would fill all humanity with this “Gods Spirit” so that we could all expericne its miraculous integrity???

          • Elly says:

The Lord does not want to fill sinners with his spirit, you have to work to be filled with God’s spirit. He loves every one of us, God’s miraculous integrity is within all Christians, and those who love to Lord as he loves us.

          • Gods grace says:

No that is where you are wrong. Our Lord does want to touch the hearts of sinners. Is it not for sinners that he came to the world. We cannot judge God and what he would like to do, it is beyond our understanding. We try to overthink the most simple teachings of Christ. God is perfect, we are not. God is faithful, even when we are not. It is not because of who we are or what we do, It is because of who he is. He is love. If you could look at your children and feel the slightest love for them, how much more love would come from a God that is love without sin. A heart could not contain it in mortal flesh. We dont need to understand God we just have to love him as our children love us. Do our children wonder why we love them or do things for them? No.

          • Curtis Penfold says:

I think miracles come down to perspective. There’s this moment where you just know God and every moment of your life becomes a miracle. Life is a miracle. Only the spiritually-minded see that.

      • Sucharu Das says:

I do not believe in Christian’s miracles..
they often make miracles up just to spread Christianity…
it is proven that they cheat people 🙂

Lord Krishna is the real miracle maker ..
many miracles happened in my life too because of merciful lord krishna…

    • lanagon says:

Okay, I don’t believe in most religions. This is my choice.
Frankly Christianity seems the stupidest to me, because of the morals and values your religion is teaching. Younger generations of Christians are especially forceful of their religion onto others. Think of all the different religions or practices. They respect other cultures because frankly, their manner is far more graceful.
Things like Wiccan (GOSH HORROR) or, I dunno – Hinduism.
I’m an atheist and I’m proud of it. I respect other people’s beliefs only if they get off my back about mine.
And isn’t one of the messages your ‘messiah’ sends suppose to be not to brag? No one cares if you’re filled with ‘holy spirit’. Good for you.
      I’m just saying.

    • Gabriel says:

The guy isn’t trying to prove them, he’s simply writing down stories that others have told. I myself have experienced miracles and miracles cannot be proven.

You have to experience miracles yourself and millions have experienced them which is why so many believe in miracles. Some miracles are just coincidence and can be explained by scientific means but others are PURELY supernatural.

For instance, in my case, I remember injuring my leg by accident and I pulled the ligaments. Now, naturally, this would take a few weeks to heal but I prayed to Jesus straight away and upon saying “Amen” I was healed.

Miracles aside and we have lots of evidence that God is real and archaeological evidence that events and places in The Bible are real too:

      • Zane says:

Of course, because Yeshua is the Son of God, who incarnated on this world.
        One can say God incarnate.

Doesn’t mean he’s much different than Krsna.
I’m a Christian, and I accept Krsna as the God, as much as I do our beloved savior Jesus. My continued research in the philosophy of what these two, which are one taught drew that profound conclusion.

        God Bless.

    • becca says:

i totally get what you are saying if god exists why is he letting poverty happen and all other bad things?

      • Srinivas Pai says:

just because its already been planned by Him! Just as the government sets some rules for its citizens to run everything smoothly ,the Lord in the same way sets some rules! And on breaking those rules you get the appropriate punishment either small or big! We are all bound by the chains of karma & it is due to His Grace that we can break the shackles & free ourselves! You ask why is there poverty. Its because the people have brought it on themselves!!

        • nora says:

So you’re saying millions of people who have done nothing, deserve to starve to death, have their homes ruined by natural disasters and live without medical care and proper education because of “bad karma?”
Yet some who are extremely wealthy get away with all kinds of atrocities but they live comfortable lives.
          Ah yes, God is great.

          • Hare Krishna Nora

We all get what we deserve. That is the universal justice. That is the way the universe works. If someone is very wealthy in this life that is the result of pious activities they have performed in previous lives and if people have their homes ruined by natural disasters that is because of their sinful activities in this life and previous lives. That is just the way the universe works. It is not unfair. We all get what we deserve according to our past deeds.

So you can not really help anyone by so-called charity work. Because you can not change the laws of the universe with your charity. If someone is meant to starve because of their karma they will starve and there is nothing you can do to help them with your charity.

However, if you can awaken their original spiritual Krishna consciousness by getting them to chant the Hare Krishna mantra then that has the power to counteract all the reactions of their past karma. So the best welfare activity for the whole world is the spreading of the Hare Krishna movement. So the best thing is you can become Krishna conscious yourself and that will empower you and give you the ability to give Krishna consciousness to others. You can then actually really help people…

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

Again I am born Sree Vaishnav. Qualified as an Electrical Engineer and Educated as a Vaishnav. From South india.

We are proud of Jesus christ and we sometimes go to Church with our christian friends.

There are Alzwars (Not War). Alzwars are humans on this eart who have sung in praise of Lord Vishnu / Krishna. They used to sing with unconditional love.
Even today those praises of lord are sung on a daily basis.

This is recorded, once a very good devotee Alzwar had arranged a big congregation opf people in South india. God came to Alzwar and aske the Alzwar what is all about. The alzwar replied, that its all in your name people are congregating to praise you (God)

Some of the Alzwars used to speak to God in their trancedental state.

First of all we people accross should stop telling that my God is great Etc. Bhakti is a kind of conscious transcedental state. Even we do our work in our offices – we dedicate that work for our parents or God, there is great value humanity can gain in that. Its like small drops of water makes a mighty ocean – every one Human irrespective of race or relegion should attempt.

Its only when we respect each other – we try to understand each other.
