The Absolute Necessity of a Bona Fide Spiritual Master

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa,
Sir Prabhupada left the best materials for us to read and he is our guru. However, You are the magnificient spiritual master who is constantly giving and interpreting our guru’s materials to help us to become the best devotees of Lord Krishna. In almost all of our guru books mentioned that Lord Krishna will accept us only if we work with our guru and accept only the bona fide guru and see him as Lord Krishn. Madhudvisa dasa is our spiritual master along with our guru Sri Prabhupada – Thank you very much for the beautiful work that you doing. I hope all of us will follow your path.

The Horrible Indian Caste System

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa
The four caste system is well described by Lord Krishna and beautifully illuminated by you (Madhudvisa dasa). This article has to be sent to the news media, magazines and news papers in India in order the Indian people to have a good understanding of the four caste system. Our poor knowledge place the Sudra class as inferior and abominable. However, we now know, we are in the Sudra class since we are working under someone regardless of our position or income. Thank you for enlightening us on the four caste system.

Why we criticize Mayavadis?

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa

I was a Buddhist for some years. At first, the preaching was beautiful. Buddhism is reason. I admire the teaching but later on I realized it is not only a deadlock but It is a bogus and show off of one man and his ego. You have one president for life; he presents himself greater than God and everyone should follow his rules and regulations without questioning. He is in charge of giving orders for everything. He put his son as a second in line, at the cost of many who have worked in the organization for decades or since its inception.
People inspired by God are worthless when compared to people who beleives in Buddhism without God. The existence of God is made up by humans.
The organization can’t tell the orgin of the chanting. However, every one has to chant daily in order to get material benefit in this life or next. There is no liberation from the maya or ascension. There is no teaching of the soul, or orgination of the soul. Everything is about matter.
You dare to criticize or say any thing contrary to the preaching of the president. Every one will bark at you as you are the sinner.
There is a fear that if you leave the organization, you will not get material benefit and you are doomed to poverty, illness, etc. Few may have these fear and prefer to stick in the organization and not follow their hearts.
I am speaking only my experience in Buddhism not for Buddhist organizations who beleive in God as the Absolute Godhead who is Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient.
Lets pray for our brothers and sisters who are under the control of Mayavadis to come to their senses and follow Lord Krishna.

The Ten Offenses in Chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa,

Thank you for the teaching of the ten offenses in chanting Hare Krishna Mantra.
I have a tendency to preach on lord Krishna to the faithful and Unfaithful. I will correct my bad behavior. I have been using garlic and onion on my food. I will stop putting them in my food. Is there other foods that we shouldn’t eat beside meat and egg? Please explain on the intoxication of tea and coffee. Can we have it or not? I drink herbal tea once or twice a day. What we should drink in the morning?

Hare Krishna
Madhudvisa, dasa,
Thank you for giving us the ten offenses in chanting the hare krishna mantra. I am following them but I have a tendency to push people to accept Krishna to the faithful and unfaithful. Thank you for your advise that I have to follow strictly the ten offenses – not to preach on the faithful.
I have been drinking tea and preparing my food with garlic and onion. I can prepare my food without garlic and onion. Please explain the intoxication of tea and coffee. We shouldn’t drink tea and coffee or we can have it in lesser quantity.

The Importance of Having a Qualified Guru

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa

I am very fortunate to associate with Krishna’s devotees.
Messenger and Guru are different in their capacity.
Messengers get dictations from Ascended Masters and pass it to humanity.
They are blessed by the Masters to have positions as Messengers.
All the informations, that comes as dictations in the heartstream, are not from the Messenger it is from the Masters from heaven. Therefore the Messenger is not a Guru and they don’t claim themselves as Guru. Few Messengers are condemned by the Masters and are no longer Messengers.
Most Messenger, they think Lord Krishna as a Master not as God. Their knowledge of Krishna is very limited.
A bona fide Guru is rare to find. We are blessed by Lord Krishna to bring us to His Bona Fida Guru Sir Prabhupada and his devotee Madhudvisa dasa.
Within few months, I have come to understand, my life and my mission. My sole mission is Lord Krishna and I want to live for His cause with His blessing.

Yes, you should read the Gita with desire to understand it and try to apply it in your daily life.
Bhagavad Gita As It Is by Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has been presented without the slightest taint of adulteration or personal motivation since orginally given by God/Lord Krishna to the Sun God, aeons ago.
“Bhagavad Gita is universally renowned as the Jewel of India’s spiritual wisdom spoken by Lord Krishna, The Suprme Personality of Godhead”.
The chanting of Maha Mantra – Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna
Hare Hare – Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare should be done 16 rounds daily in order to help us understand the Gita. Lord Chaitanya’s/Lord Krishna appearance half a century ago to engage us in chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.
There is no book which compares to the Gita. Lord Krishn/God gave the Gita to help us to cleanse our sins and to go back to our orignal abode – To heaven with God.
Those who sincerely read the Gita and follow all the precepts are cleared from attachment and sinful reactions. If you read strictly all the articles, question and answers of Madhudvisa dasa, you will not have a problem in understang the Gita. My greatest help is coming from reading Swami Prabhupada’s books and Madhudvisa dasa’s articles/informations. whenever, you have time please go to Krishna.org and read the articles.

Hare Krishna,
Lissa,
Lord Krishna is complete. He is the SuperSoul, the cause of all causes, etc. He doesn’t need anything from us. It is for our benefit that we do the 16 rounds of chanting daily to cleanse our sins. To understand Lord Krishna and our relation with Him, We have to read His book The Gita As It Is. Madhudvisa dasa has been advising us to do the Maha Mantra and follow the precepts if we want to be the devotee of Lord Krishna. To become the devotee of Lord Krishna is the highest gift from God. Without reading Swami Prabhupada’s books (those books are mostly the word of Lord Krishna) and chanting the Maha Mantra, we may not able to understand who we is Lord Krishna and why we are here.

Hare Krishna,
Mahudvisa dasa,
Lord Krishna reincarnated many times for our cause.
His reincarnation as Parshuram, Gautauma, Christ? are aspects of Him. I believe, they are considered as demigods but not God as Lord Krishna/Rama and Caitanya. If there is an explanation from Swami Prabhupada on this issue, I would love to know.
Ekadasi – is the eleventh day that we have to fast from grains in order to increase devotion, according to Swami Prabhupada’s books. Is Ekadasi is the eleventh day of each month. Please give explanation.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa

Krishna ‘s devotees are little Krishna in themselves. Because with krishna’s blessing, they are having eternal wisdom, humility, grace and honor to guide humans back to Godhead. With out Krishna’s teaching, society will continue to live in the Maya’s caste system. They will continue to be discriminated on their race, age, sex, income, looks, jobs, place you live, car you drive, clothes they wear, place they work, position they held, etc. there is no end to suffering.
People in the Material world live for power, money, position, recognition, honor, pride, control at the expense of others. Tyrant leaders stay in power by killing anyone who challenges them.
The biggest mishap of great religion is the lack of teaching in Reincarnation and teaching of Lord Krishna (Gita As It Is). Reincarnation is the greatest gift from Lord Krishna to humanity. Humans can come back to earth and learn God’s way to cleanse their sins and have eternal salvation and ascension.
Because, we decide to nurture our pride/ego rather than have faith in Lord Krishna’s teaching. We are here. However, being, Lord Krishna is mercyful, at present time, we are learning the Gita once again and take refuge in Lord Krishna’s feet.

The Importance of Sense Control in Spiritual Life

Hare Krishna
Madhudvisa dasa

The Maha Mantra came from Lord Krishna Himself. We have to accept it as it is. The present time is the period of Kali Yuga and humanity are controlled by maya. Our life span is very short and we don’t have time to engage in meditation or penance. Being merciful, Lord Krishna gave us The Maha Mantra – the greatest gift from God to humanity. By chanting God’s name we can easily eradicate our sins and able to go back home to Godhead. The name Rama means salvation, according to the episode of Ramayana. When Lord Rama leaving the earth, He told to Hanuman/God’s greatest devotee “those who call my name will receive salvation.” At present time, Lord Krishna is coming to us through His best devotee Srila Prabhupada.
Srila Prabhupada is God’s vehicle and helping us to know God and love God.

Hare Krishna,
Why don’t we spend some time in reading articles in the web site of krishna.org. It will help us to let go our lower self/maya and come up to higher self – consciousness. No one will be free from illusion of matter, without reading The Gita; Chanting Hare Krishna; Communing with Krishna; Accepting Krishna wholeheartedly as the Lord of the universe. People who are posing questions without chanting, reading the Gita are worshipers of themselves. They are full of pride. Pride is sin because Lord Krishna is not honored as God. The price of pride is reincarnation – another suffering.
Surrendering to Lord Krishna is the ultimate goal of humanity. With Lord Krishna, we can have peace, harmony, love, understanding, wisdom, etc. Everyone should Dance with Krishna;
Eat with Krishna; Talk with Krishna to have a meaningful and blissful life.

Are the Hare Krishnas a Cult?

Hare Krishna,
Ms. Mary Fletcher,
If all christians follow lord Jesus path, every one should have gone to heaven as Jesus did. Lord Jesus was living in earth following Gods scriptures. His words was that He was His Father’s Bussiness. He never said I am God.
Lord Jesus and all other Ascended Masters are demigods created by God. They are God’s servants and helping humanity to love God and do God’s work in order to liberate us from earth’s maya.
Because of our poor knoweldge of God/Lord Krishna, we depend on demigods. However, those who are enlightened never depend on demigods/Humans for benefit or for any other things. They go straight to Lord Krishna because He is God of heaven and earth with all kind of power.
Lord Krishna said in the Gita “ABONDON ALL VARITIES OF RELIGION AND JUST SURRENDER INTO ME. I SHALL DELIVER YOU FROM ALL SINFUL REACTION. DO NOT FEAR.” Demigods can’t save us or eradicate our Karma only Lord Krishna has the power to do it.
Lord Krishna gave us free will to choose whatever we want to choose either God or Demigod. Srila Prabhupada is a great Avatar leading humanity in the time of Kali yuga to the perfect path – God’s path than any other Avatar at present time. Because of him, we are not only understandin who is Lord Krishna but we are having a chance to become the devotee of Lord Krishna. Prabhupuda books are enough to describe him as a man of God’s Wisdom who is loved by all. To understand who is Lord Krishna, we have to read the Gita As It Is and chant the Maha Mantra of Lord Krishna, then our doubt will be evaporated.

Hare Krishna,
Mahv – Dasa – I hope, you received yesterday’s email.

People with Poor or limited knowledge can call Krishna religion a Cult.
There are many religions (Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, etc) in this world which God bestowed to each country according to their position, location, cultural believes, wisdom and understanding. And with this religions, prophets, avatars came to teach the scriptures. However, they ( Mohamed, Jesus, Buddha and other) are not Gods. They are part and parcel of God, because they are His creation.
The first and foremost bible in the world is the four Vedas came from God himself and given to avatars to guide us on how to live in this earth and possibly can make our ascension.
All the present scriptures came from the Vedas but all have bits and pieces of the vedas that’s why the world is ignorant of God, his mission and our mission in this life. The only book that lead us to the understanding of the best and whole scripture is the Gita As It Is. Gita is the essence of the Vedas and the foundation of all religion. Any one, who wants to know God, should read the Gita As It Is and see Vishnupuran dvd – You will see how Lord Krishna created the universe. Knowledge makes us see things clearly.
No one is God beside Lord Krishna. All other prophets, Avatars and Demi-Gods are his creation. He gave them power to lead humanity to God’s path. They are under His control.
The Demi-Gods are not Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient like Lord Krishna but God’s servant to serve humanity and they are happy for what they have come to earth and loved Lord Krishna deep from their heart and we have to follow their foot steps, love them, respect them for their good work but worship only Lord Krishna.

Our children are God’s children. They brought their own karma and live through it just as we are living our life. We have to try to teach them the best and pray to God to help them.
We have to learn to let go the attachment of our children, mothers, fathers, etc. Otherwise we are going to suffer unnecessarily. I was one of the mothers to control my son’s life but it didn’t work because I want to satisfy my selfish interest rather to live his life – eating meat, watching tv, not reading spiritual books, etc.
When I learn the non-attachment from Lord Krishna in the Gita, I regain my life and my relationship with my son. Read the Gita how Arjuna learned to let go his attachment towards his family and friends from Lord Krishna.
Lets do the Maha Mantra for uplifting Mankind daily minimum 16 rounds or more and nurture our consciousness/soul with the essence of Gita.

Hare Krishna Yusuf,
This is your greatest boon from Lord Krishna to come to Krishna web site, not only to learn about Krishna but also to find out your mission and your salvation. Lord Krishna is God Himself and He is The Supersoul seating in our hearts. He is I AM That I AM. The Lord knows what we need and guides us to Him. To know Lord Krishna easily, watch Mahabharatha, Krishna, Vishnu Puran and Ramayana DVD or youtube by Sagar/Chopra. Follow Madhudvisa dasa’s directions – Chant the name of God, read His pastimes and follow the precepts.

Hare Krishna Madhudvisa Dasa,
In the Bhahavad Gita, Lord Krishna said to Arjuna ” Among all the Mantras, I am the Gayatri”. The Gayatri Mantra :

Gayatri Mantra Its Meaning
AUM BHOOR BHUWAH SWAHA, – OH GOD! THOU ART THE GIVER OF LIFE,
TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM REMOVER OF PAIN AND SORROW,
BHARGO DEVASAYA DHEEMAHI THE BESTOWER OF HAPPINESS,
DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODAYAT. OH! CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE,
MAY WE RECEIVE THY SUPREME SIN-DESTROYING LIGHT
MAY THOU GUIDE OUR INTELLECT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

Can we invoke this Gayatri Mantra to Lord Krishna. I would like to know if our Swami Prabhupada ever mentioned to invoke the Gayatri Mantra to Lord Krishna. Please shed light on this matter, if possible. Source http://www.eaglespace.com

Where can I get Tilaka?
I am visiting Mathura/Vrindavana/Ayodhya from January 22 till Feb 6, 2012.
Any special place I should visit in addition to Mother Sudevi Holy cows in Radha Kunda. Do you have the exact address of Mother Sudevi and visitation time. I would love to visit Mother Sudevi and her Holy Cows.

Hare Krishna,
Lila
As a mother I understand your agony but with the strong faith in Lord Krishna, you will receive peace of mind.

A child is a gift from God. No one is allowed to take a baby’s life. One will make the highest karma by killing the baby in the womb. A mother’s job is to nurture the baby with the love of God — Chanting the Maha Mantra and reading Lord Krishna’s past times. Usually, babies with no brain do have life in their mother’s womb. However, they don’t live long once they are separated from their mothers’ womb.
Our children are not ours but God’s children and let Lord Krishna decide their fate.
A friend of mine had a similar problem. Her baby daughter didn’t have brain and died after birth, soon, by grace of God, she became pregnant with twins and now, she has a beautiful girl and boy. Children should be loved by their parents no matter in what form they come and never shortened their life span by any means.

Dear Vishva,
I am not more advanced in my knowledge of Lord Krishna than you. It is my desire and fate in Lord Krishna make me surrender to His Lotus Feet. Until recently, I thought Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu are all Gods with the same power. However, when I read the Gita from Swami Prahupada, I was amazed that Lord Krishna is God himself, immediately I joined Krishna.org and begin to read comments by Swami Prahupada and Madhudvisa dasa and start watching Lord Krishna’s past time DVDs – Ramayana, Krishna, Mahabaratha, Vishnupuran. If we follow the precepts of Lord Krishna daily (read the Gita and 16 rounds of Maha Mantra daily), as given by our Guru Prahupada and Madhudvisa dasa, Lord Krishna will play his miracles on us beautifully. Let’s give unalloyed love to Lord Krishna to receive his mercy and read Prahupada’s books daily.

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa Das,

Soul and Matter
WE are not of material creation as many believe. We are souls covered by gross material body which is called Maya. Once we are enlightened ( By continously reading Prabhupada’s books and chanting Maha Mantra), we can uncover from these material body or inferior energy and liberate our selfs. The Material body functions with the presence of the soul. Once the soul seperates from the body, the material body loses its energy and dies out. Therefore, the soul is the life giver to the body which is eternal and infinite and the material body which is marginal and finite.
Our spirit soul is a part and parcel of the Supersoul. Thus, we understand that we are not matter but we are spirit soul, the living entity who engage in the loving transcendental service of Krishna.

Thank you Madhudvisa dasa for the information on food. I started Krishna’s diet couple months ago and my appetite curbed to one half from my usual appetite. Krishna’s diet concur with 80% Alkaline and 20% Acidic foods. Food combinations which are safe and healthy to our body. Fruits, Vegetables, Milk and Milk products are Alkaline foods. Cereals/Starches and Meats are Acidic foods. Too much acidic foods are harmful and degenerate the body.
The majority of people eat more acidic foods (Bread and Meat)and less alkaline foods (fruits/vegetables/milk). Almost all foods served in Fast Food Chains, and Restaurants are Acidic foods. Drinks (except pure fruit/vegetable juices)and desserts (except fruit) are acidic. Because of poor choices in food selection, chronic illnesses (such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, obesity, arthritis, stroke and many others) are rampant everywhere. Over all, quality of life is poor despite advance technology is increasing life span by medicine, which is costing billions of dollars to the nation.

We Are Our Father’s Bussiness but no one else. Because our father loves us, He bestow us – the mantra, the diet and the Gita.
Lets continue to engage in our devotional service to our Beloved Lord Krishna – whose devotees are dear to Him.

We should have a list of foods that we are not suppose to eat.
I thought we are to avoid meat, egg and alcohol.
But I learned recently that we are not suppose to have garlic, onion and may be coffee and tea.
Please give us detail information of foods that are forbidden to eat by Lord Krishna. Thanks.

Hare Krishna,
Madhudvisa dasa
Egg and Milk are the only food that are complete in protein – meaning they have all the essential amino acids that the body requires. Beans are also the source of protein. However they are incomplete unless they are eaten with rice or other cereal products. If egg is forbidden by Krishna and can have milk which is complete, comparable in protein to egg even better than egg why do we have to have eggs of any kind. Lets stay with the foods that we are given because they are good in nurturing our body, mind, spirit and soul. Besides, by avoiding eating eggs and meats, we are protected from many harmful contamination effects and body complications/illnesses from eggs and meats.

May i know about the author of the book”Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita As It Is” named mukund das prabhu.Had he any personal association with Srila Prabhupada.

    • This book is a compilation of direct quotes from Srila Prabhupada speaking about his own life. The author is Srila Prabhuapda, all Mukunda did was compile the quotes and he did a good job of it. He wrote a bit of rubbish on the last 2 pages but apart from that he did not write a single word in the book. It is a collection of Prabhupada quotes and the author of this book is Srila Prabhuapda.

  2. Vamshi says:

Prabhu Madhudvisa Dasa.Is Jagannath Krishna himself or is just an expansion of Krishna like Vishnu,Rama etc.In Iskcon lectures I heard that Jagannath is Krishna himself, they have proved this by saying a story from Skanda purana. Is this true or Iskcon lectures are just bogus?I found no video Prabhupad talking aboyt Lord Jagannath.Oh Prabhu kindly answer my doubts.Hare Krishna

    • Yes. Lord Jagannatah is Krishna Himself. It is Jagannatha [Krishna] Balarama and Krishna’s sister Subhadra.

So Jagannatha is deity form of Krishna. He is representation of Krishna with His brother Balarama and sister Subhadra,

It is deity manifestation of Krishna, Balarama and Lady Subhadra,

  3. tanu says:

    Jai Govind

I request you clear my doubts.I understand the complexities of life processes, cellular mechanisms and other natural phenomenon cannot be explained solely by reasoning and scientific theories as somewhere or other our knowledge is limited.I am a science student nd nature lover. After reading the article posted by you regarding the concept of the origin of life,a question arisen in my mind that krishna is all powerful, then, why he designed this universe in this complicated way?,why life originated? why he made all that dna etc matter space?what is his true nature? why are we given these bodies these reasoning abilities?why krishna waited for billions of years and made us take birth here?why prakrati and purush got seperated? who were those dinosaurs etc for souls are eternal were those dinosaurs primitive and other organisms we only? are there any planet lest earth having life?why will happen atlast for we are ultimately destined to reach our eternal govind? why doesn’t he appears now and clear all these doubts for one thing is sure that if even he messages in some ways we will submit to him?why krishna is so naughty why has he made everything complicated?I know these are childlish questions but still worthy to be answered…..

I am a krishana devotee.I feel as if there is pure love for him deep in my heart. But at the same time I do believe in science.Sometimes i find myself stuck in between science emotions belief and devotion.I want to understand my Govind,I want to understand myself.

I request my friends to please give answer to these questions.I hope i will get atleast answers of a few questions as i found this site quite appealing.

    thankyou!
    Radhe krishna

    • Hare Krishna Jai Govind

To clear your doubts you have to become Krishna conscious. Because unless you become Krishna conscious you will not be able to understand what Krishna consciousness is and you will remain continually bewildered.

All these questions are irrelevant. You seem to accept that Govinda exists, that He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now you have to just surrender to the idea that you are His servant. And then you need to find out practically how you can engage in the service of Krishna. And to find out how to do this you need to read Srila Prabhupada’s books. And in the process of becoming Krishna conscious all your other questions will automatically be answered.

The scientists can not understand anything. They only have very fragmental information about everything they study. The information we can gather through our material senses is very limited. There are so many things we can not perceive through our material senses. So they can not understand what they can not perceive.

So instead of just speculating all these questions and being bewildered like this it is better to just admit that in our conditioned state with our very limited mind and our material senses we can not hope to understand Krishna or even this material world which is created ultimately by Krishna.

The way to understand these things is to become Krishna conscious. We can not understand without becoming Krishna conscious.

So you have to learn how to become Krishna conscious… That is the answer to all your questions. And Krishna consciousness is a science and that science is very elaborately presented in the books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

      Madhudvisa dasa
