After 45 years there still is no Gita study guide that Srila Prabhupada created.
I have the original teaching guide that I have shared for years but to no avail.
It was up on Prabhupada News but has been pushed into the background not readily available to ‘karmi’ scholars what to speak of devotees and followers. A shame that I am not surprised about. Seems that the only book that will save the planet is still being ignored by those of us who like to portray ourselves as merciful.

All of the efforts of myself and other devotees to get the Gita teaching guide going on line or off have been completely ignored with silence from all of the Prabhupadanugas so called leadership. I expect that if I set up even one page teaching site it would be admonished by most and the defense of it ignored by ‘devotees’.

We have asked for years that if this guide is faulty then please set us straight about those faults. Still nothing but the silence that one would get from large boulders. So, it must be the right guide otherwise why the silence?

There is a very serious price to pay for ignoring Srila Prabhupada and his Gita Guide.

    • It is because Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is is self explanatory Prabhu. There is no need for a study guide, one simply has to read Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is, and that is what the people do. They purchase Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Prabhupada himself has given us all the guidance we need in his beautiful Bhaktivedanta Purports. There is no need for any other guides apart from Srila Prabhupada and Krishna when attempting to understand Bhagavad-gita As It Is.

There is no need to try and provided the people with a lamp to see the sun. What good will your lamp do? The sun is there, the people can see it, they don’t need your lamp…

    All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

I have got two Hindi Bhagavad-gita from Krishnastore.in which is a translation of 1983 English edition. On the website the cover is of original edition I think. Is this edition good?

    • Hare Krishna Aman

Translation is translation, not original. So it is as good as we have at the moment. But better to read the original in English if the person can read English. But if the person can only read Hindi then that is the only Hindi translation that is available and is better than nothing. Serious followers of Srila Prabhupada should make the effort to learn English and that opens up all the original teachings of Srila Prabhupada for them, but in the meantime whatever foreign language translations are available of Prabhupada’s books will give the idea of Krishna consciousness for sure.

Thank you for all the replies.

I personally only read original Srila Prabhupada books, that is, in English. Almost all the people in my family are at least little interested in Krishna Consciousness. Some of them are of old age so it seems almost impossible that they can learn English as we are villagers. For them I don’t worry much as you have told me if I become a pure devotee they will all be liberated from all sins and go Back to Godhead. But just because they are interested I thought it would be good to give them the Hindi book available on krishnastore.com That will ease their nerves also as they become concerned about what I’m doing sometimes. Once I become a pure devotee by your grace and Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna’s grace I will be able to make the pure devotees as well.

        Hare Krishna!
        All glories to Srila Prabhupa!

        • Yes, certainly Prabhu. Prabhupada says, ‘A blind uncle is better than no uncle at all.’ So let them read the Hindi Prabhupada books that are available. From ISKCON also, you can get Hindi Prabhupada books. They are going to be 99% OK at least. So no problems. If they can not read the original English books then get them to read whatever they can read. But if they can read the originals in English encourage them to read the originals. Original is always better than a translation, but if you can’t read the original language then you have to read the translation.

          • Aman says:

            Hare Krishna Prabhu!

Can we get the translation books even of the recently ‘revised and enlarged’ books from ISKCON?

          • I just read Prabhupada’s books over and over and over again. Everything is in Prabhupada’s books, there is no need to read any other books, that is my principle anyhow. But I don’t think you have read all of Prabhupada’s books even once and you are already looking to read other books?

    • We don’t have it. I suggest you read Prabhupada’s original Bhagavad-gita in English. He wrote it in English and we are interested in distributing his original books, which are in English. So I suggest you read it in English.

Hare Krishna to all. Srila Prabhupada the genius of the modern era. Unbelievable work of a true devotee, now is up to us what we do with the ultimate knowledge and the true lottery Srila Prabhupada has given us. Srila Prabhupada has completed his responsibility and his job, have we done ours. Srila Prabhupada has lead us to the lake or reservoir and now is up to us whether we want to drink the water or not, the decision is ours whether we want to satisfy our thirst or continue to wondering for another millennium or more….

    • Only Prabhupada’s original 1972 Bhagavad-gita As It Is “Complete Edition” is authorized. Prabhupada ordered that his books not be changed but ISKCON have disobeyed this order and made thousands and thousands of unauthorized changes. So the Bhagavad-gitas being distributed by ISKCON these days are completely unauthorized and contain so many unauthorized changes. So you should read Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita as it is that you can read online at http://www.AsItIs.com or http://www.PrabhupadaBooks.com and you can purchase it at http://www.KrishnaStore.com

    I want to know:

HOW “BG As It Is” is the Essence of All Upanishads and All the Vedas ?

I am eager to hear from you the Answer
Thank you very much what you are doing Service for Srila Prabhupada !!!
    Your most fallen servant

    • Read it and see Prabhu.

These things can only be understood by realization.

It is an amazing book. You can read it an unlimited number of times and every time you read it it is fresh and new. And it contains fathomless depth of knowledge which initially one may not be able to perceive but as one surrenders more and more to Srila Prabhupada and follows his instructions the knowledge of the Gita opens up.

The ultimate purpose of the Upanishads and the Vedas is to bring one to the point of surrendering to Krishna. And the Bhagavad-gita also, is about bringing Arjuna to the point of surrendering to Krishna. But in the Bhagavad-gita this is established in only a few hundred verses whereas the Vedas and Upanishads consist of hundreds or thousands of big books. So Krishna has condensed the essence of all the knowledge of the Vedas and presented it to His devotee and friend Arjuna in not more than half an hour or an hour just before the greatest battle that this planet has ever seen…

And by hearing the Bhagavad-gita, which is the essence of the Vedas and Upanishads compressed by Krishna so he could explain it to Arjuna in half an hour, Arjuna came to the correct conclusion of he Vedas which is to surrender to Krishna and follow the instructions of Krishna even though Krishna’s instructions were contradictory to what Arjuna himself thought was the best thing to do. Arjuna did not want to fight the battle of Kuruksettra as he could understand the results of this battle would be disastrous as all his friends and family members were arrayed on the battlefield on one side or the other. So Arjuna could understand that practically everyone he cared about would be killed in the battle so even if he was victorious what would be the use of such a victory if the result was that all his friends and family members would be killed? So these were all very good arguments by Arjuna. But Krishna’s presentation of the Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna convinced him that his own ideas were irrelevant and useless and that his duty was to surrender to Krishna and follow the instructions of Krishna and fight…

So anyhow Prabhu. Read Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is yourself over and over again and all your questions will be mysteriously answered.

I have another question-why women are suffering so much now a days all bad things happening to them in news everyday we hear of such things -rape happening to women why dont krishna save us from these illegal activities. If he doesnot save us who will to whom should we pray for our protection ?? is not its lords duty to protect us??Or is it that we did some bad karma in our previous life that we should accept it as our fruit for bad karma??

    • Hare Krishna Ananya

Yes. We get the reactions of our karma. The sinful or pious things we have done in the past cause good or bad things to happen to us now. It is not Krishna that is causing these things to happen to us. These things happen to us because of our sinful activities in this and previous lives. The way out is to become actually Krishna conscious. For then Krishna can adjust our karma. But generally speaking everyone is just suffering and enjoying the reactions of their past activities. That is the way things work. Any suffering that comes in our life we deserve because it has come as a result of some sinful action we have done in the past.

    All Glories to Srila Prabhupada…PAMHO…

Thank you very much for the timely help…I am trying to do online Bhagavad Gita Course, for which this newsletter will be of immense help to make me advance in Krishna Consciousness… I am practising the chanting of the Holy Name since 10years and doing morning and evening arati, reading BG and Bhangavatam morning and evening, Nectar of devotion, Sri Caitanya Caritamrita and Krishna Book every day…but still my progress is ZERO….i am perplexed…may my chanting is not a quality chanting, my reading is not a fruitful reading…perhaps all this is because i am fully immersed in the whirlpool of material existence, my life is spinning around interacting with materialistic people around and what not!!

I hope that this Newsletter will wake up my dormant KC if there is in me and i can enjoy the transendental bliss of chanting the hare krishna mahamantra….

    Your humble servant,
