Did Einstein Create God?

This God, as I understand it, is a term that Einstein made popular in his discussions with other physicists. I heard that when Einstein said, Der lieber Gott nicht werfelt, (God doesn’t shoot craps with the universe), Niels Bohr finally told Einstein, Stop telling God what to do. More to the point, is this God’s first attempt at creating a universe, or is God experienced at this? (Robert Roosen)

Firstly the concept of God, a supreme person who is the ultimate controller of the universe, certainly was not the creation of Einstein. Finding the beginning of the idea of God would be very difficult for, unlike anything we have experienced here He is eternal. He has no beginning or end. We also have this same eternal nature but we are covered by our material bodies made from earth, water, fire, air and ether. Underneath this material covering we exist as an eternal spiritual being, a tiny part and parcel of the Supreme Being. We have the same qualities as Him, however He has them in unlimited qunatities and we have them in minute quantities.

As far as this creation being God’s first, He has a somewhat different perspective to us.

“O son of Kunti, at the end of the millennium all material manifestations enter into My nature, and at the beginning of another millennium, by My potency, I create them again.” (Bhagavad-gita 9.7)

The creation and annihilation of the material world is cyclic. Although this creation has a beginning and an end the cycle is eternal. It’s just like the seasons, every year we get summer, autumn, winter and spring. So this universe is created, it exists for some time and is ultimately destroyed. But then another creation takes place.

This is a great science, this is the real science.

So for God there is no question of this, or for that matter, any of His universes, being His first attempt.

Since He is eternal and the cycle of creation and annihilation is also eternal there was no “first time”. This is somewhat inconceivable to us only because we have no experience of anything eternal.

God (Krishna, “The all-attractive person”) is not only expert at creating universes, He is expert at everything and He has always been so. He didn’t have to learn how to be God from somebody else–He is always God, eternally.

In this material world everyone, even Lord Brahma, the first and most powerful person in this universe, has to undergo the problems of birth, old-age, disease and ultimately death. So although a birth in the heavenly planets (like Brahmaloka) may be very nice in that we get a very long life, a beautiful body and lots of facility for sense gratification, still ultimately we have to get old and die.

But do we die? Certainly the body gets old and dies. But am I the body? If we scientifically analyze the body can we find ourselves? Am I my arm? Am I my head? Am I my brain? No. I am the person within the body. The body is a machine like a motor car and I am it’s driver.

dehino ‘smin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha dehantara-praptir
dhiras tatra na muhyati

“As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.”

So we are not the body, we are the tiny spiritual particle controlling and directing the body.

Currently, in the material world, we are in an uncomfortable and unnatural position. We are spiritual beings imprisoned within material bodies which are not at all comfortable. My spiritual nature is to be full of pleasure, to be eternally youthful, and to to full of knowledge but because I have taken on this body and I am identifying with it. I consider myself this body which is mortal, full of anxiety and full of ignorance. Just the opposite of my real spiritual nature.

So “Who created Brahma?” A good question. This material world is only one fourth of the creation of Krishna (Visnu). Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and he has His own abode, Goloka Vrndavana in the spiritual world far, far away from this miserable material world. There the nature is completely spiritual, everything is full of knowledge, eternally youthful and full of pleasure. In the spiritual world everyone is serving Krishna. There are varieties of activities but the goal is one only, to please Krishna.

So did Krishna create Brahma? Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita(15.7):

mamaivamso jiva-loke jiva-bhutah sanatanah
manah sasthanindriyani prakrti-sthani karsati

“The living entities in this conditioned worls are My eternal, fragmental parts. Due to conditioned life, they are struggling very hard with the six senses which include the mind.”

Hear Krishna says the living entities, of whom Lord Brahma is one, are “eternal fragmental parts” so it can not be said that anyone created Brahma, or Krishna or you or me. We are all of the same eternal spiritual quality however Krishna is great and we are small. The example is given of the blazing fire and the small sparks.

The small sparks are qualitatively the same as the blazing fire but they are very small compared to the fire. As soon as the sparks leave the fire they loose their shining power. Similarily Lord Brahma, and we ourselves, are tiny spiritual particles qualitatively the same but quantitatively different form Krishna. We have come to the material world and as sparks loose their shining power outside the fire we have also lost our spiritual nature by separating ourselves from Krishna.

To regain our original spiritual nature in this age of Kali there is only one recommended method the chanting of the maha-mantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, an incarnation of Krishna appearing five hundered years ago in West Bengal described this process as “ceto darpanam marjanam..” or cleaning the mirror of the heart. All our sinful activities produce seeds which are stored in our heart and which cover our clear consciousness and this chanting of the Hare Krishna maha mantra clears away all the contamination in the heart, purifying it so we can see ourselves and our original position as servants of Krishna.

And “Who is in charge to make sure…” Krishna is in charge of everything to make sure everything goes on alright. Sometimes there are problems which even Lord Brahma and the other demigods can’t solve so at such times they go to the beach of the milk ocean within this universe and pray to Visnu (Who lives on an island in the milk ocean in His form as Ksirodakasayi Visnu) asking Him to appear as an incarnation to solve the problem.

In another posting I have quoted Srila Jayadeva Goswami’s Dasavatara-strotra which gives a very nice description of ten of the incarnations of Vishnu who appeared in this universe at various times to perform various activities.

Actually Krishna doesn’t have to appear within this universe to kill demons or to do anything else. The whole material energy is completely under His control (although He is independent and undisturbed by it). So He can kill millions of demons by one earthquake. Why does He come here personally? He wants to protect His devotees, and He wants to perform pastimes here so His devotees will be able to glorify and talk about His pastimes (He enjoys it also). Devotees get great pleasure by hearing and describing Krishna’s pastimes, but if Krishna didn’t personally come here and display His pastimes what would we talk about?

Please chant Hare Krishna, read the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam and try and tell everyone you meet something about Krishna. This is the most important thing in our lives.

Thank you. Hare Krishna.

About the Author

My first contact with a Hare Krishna was a most merciful Mataji in Oxford Street, London who sold me a "Higher Taste" cook book in 1984 while I was on holidays there. I started seriously reading Srila Prabhupada's books in Australia 1985 and by 1986 Srila Prabhupada had convinced me "Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead" and "we should surrender to Krishna." I joined the Hare Krishnas in Perth, Western Australia in 1986. Since then I have been chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, reading and distributing Srila Prabhupada's books and preaching as much as I can. That's my life and full-time occupation now really. I like it more than anything I've ever experienced before. Srila Prabhupada's books are so amazing... Even after reading them all many times they're still fresh and new. They are truly transcendental! That's it really. Now I'm just hankering to once again see the world chant Hare Krishna, dance and feast and float away in the ecstasy of Lord Caitanya's Sankirtana movement as it did in Srila Prabhupada's physical presence. Let the whole world drown in the ecstatic flood of love of Krishna!

Prabhu, as Srila Prabhupada says Einstein is student of Gita.. I heard that einstein comment he believed in formless God. How is this prabhu

    • I don’t know what Einstein believes but every transcendentalist, both personal and impersonal, they are all students of Bhagavad-gita. The difference is the interpretation the impersonalists put on it, but they are still great students of Bhagavad-gita and the other Vedic scriptures and very strict followers of the Vedic rules and regulations.

  2. Derek says:

    Hi there,
Can you get any original sources of Einsteins comments, as I have had a few queries for reliable sources that are acceptable to scientists.

    Thanks Prabhus

  3. sanvi says:

O dear Lord Krsna, O eternal Deity of transcendental bliss and knowledge, you are imperishable, and we offer our respectful obeisances unto Your lotus feet. It is by Your causeless mercy that we have been released from the imprisonment of Jarasanda,

    STORY OF JARASANDA
When Godess Rukmini was saved from marriage to King of Cedi, then Jarasanda, the Kaurava, Bima and Nakula and Sahadewa were all slain. Yudistira was rendered unconscious by Krishna and couldn’t move. Then Krishna was challenged by Arjuna and nearly lost, and thus the god Vishnu descended from heaven. Krishna, as an avatar of Vishnu turned into Vishnu, while Arjuna, who was also an avatar of Vishna, also turned into Vishnu. Yudistira then became conscious again, and asked Vishnu to bring back to life all those who had been slain in the fighting. Vishnu agreed, and He rained down immortality and all those who had been slain came back to life, including Jarasanda. They all then joined the festivities for Krishna’s wedding in Dwarawati.

    QUESTION:
When Krisna turned into Vishnu and brought back Jarasanda, the Kaurava, Bima and Nakula and Sahadewa back to life then they were new people and pious?

When we pray that Krishna releases us from imprisonment within material existence this illusory energy. Then In this same way as the story of Jarasanda we are asking to be slain of our bad qualities and to become better humans and KC?

    TEXT
We now have sufficient experience of the miserable material life in which we are fully absorbed, and having tasted its bitterness, we have come to take shelter under your
lotus feet. (The imprisoned kings-Krsna Book)

After we suffer do we realize that we are not hear to enjoy sense pleasure, until then we are not able to appreciate taking shelter under Lotus feet of Lord Krishna. Surely as humans we are all suffering but some they do not have or found Krishna. We suffer to realize Gods existence, and but when we are KC then we do not lament or rejoice the bad and good things that cross our path, because the ultimate enjoyer is Krishna, so is Krishna also the ultimate sufferer? We cause pain to Krishna when we are doing bad to other Jivas?

    QUESTION
When we take shelter under the Lotus Feet and surrender our selves what are the qualities of a person who has surrendered?

There are a lot of good qualities as a human I can easily list, however there is one specific quality I am most interested in and that is when a KC person is fully conscious of his/her relationship with Krishna and can see Krishna in all living entity then he himself/herself has some enlightened quality as of the well traveled spiritual master, Srila Narada Muni the transcendental spaceman. (His/her does not really exist, we are not gender based either). What is the word we can use in material context to signify our understanding of our Jiva to be free form this labeling of male female relationsip?)

Science is a limiting mindful activity, but there is a correlation of KC with quantum mechanics, a team of physicists has proved that an entire atom can simultaneously exist in two widely separated places. So when we meet other humans and we see Krishna in their soul we say:

Jai Shree Krishna, which means, ‘I see Krishna in you’. Some people do not really appreciate the deeper meaning behind this spoken word’s; they lack KC. It is because the meaning has been lost over time and been taken over as material existence as a show and a sign of a distinguished family who may really be interested in material existence.

We beings are sparks of Krishna we reflect qualities of the source and have sparks also maybe in the form of aura? Or some thing, our sparks also do exist in more then one place at a time and we have same qualities as the source light Krishna but we are not the source itself but of the source.

Especially as we are transferred from the spiritual energy to the material energy, our real essence is lost in the bodily attachment that we are enclosed within. The barrier or distinction between the source and us is huge we are nothing much really (on our own) and if a spiritual spark tries to exist alone it is as if you are an electric current living without wanting to be plugged to the mains, and this is not possible. One electric current cannot illuminate the room but the more current there is then the room lights-up better especially if plugged to the source of the generator.

Our real natural ability to exist in more then one place at a time cannot be seen through material existence. We are mind limited in material existence, which means we are not conscious of our real existence.

Living entities have all the qualities of the Supreme Lord in minute quantities. We on this dimension cannot see ‘who we truly are’. However if we know the source and that our father Lord Krishna has ability to exist within all living entities then we have also ability to be in more then one place at a time. From this it means we are much more close as jivas then our material existence can prove. This means if someone is in distress it is we who are in distress, and if we cannot hear others and help then we aren’t helping our-self.

When a baby is newly born and you put all babies in one room they are all ‘feeling’ each others distress, one cries then all the rest of the babies join in, because they think they are in pain. As babies are more close to the purity of the divine spirit this is clearly seen. It is only when they grow up and define themselves as individuals does the human suffering really does begin.

Not being good to our self is also a sinful act. If we are not collectively trying to unite in our KC awareness then what are we are aiming for in real Krishna Conscious movement?

So when we are good to other humans or Jivas we are really just being good to ourselves but we do not know. When we do bad things to others we are being bad
to ourselves. Like we are cutting our own limbs to gain a material satisfaction, we do not realize we are cutting our own limbs. We are foolish people and find it hard to be otherwise.

So when we do bad things and we make ultimately ourselves miserable our karma is already in action, we just do not know that we are not happy in that moment as it is not our body that suffers, but the soul knows the suffering it has been caused. In that moment of our causing misery to someone and the transfer of the spiritual karmic energy which travels through another dimension because it is not solid form and we can not see but do feel it in the pain we are suffering via karma and this does in fact unite our collective human suffering.

When we see another life suffer and we do not intervene then we are not acting in the best KC way.

The karmic energy proves that we are not individuals and the pain we cause we feel it too in the karmic cycle as they call it but really it is the invisible nervous system that we all share.

Being in the company of Krishna Conscious people we are able to be who we all truly are, and this decreases our Karmic situation and we are liberated. However it is not always possible to meet all people with this much understanding and we continue to suffer due to our ignorance and in the company we keep. This is why it is important to be in association of devotees who are in the same level of spiritual progression, but not always easy to find such devotees as most are in their own group settings. Perhaps the most advanced devotees may not recognize and assume that the person who does not wear a tilak or initiated is not advanced, and it is hard to find like-minded company. Is there a need to make KC people aware of communicating to build up on associations and accepting the company of those that do not outwardly match their uniform?

I feel the non-conforming and to wearing a uniform keeps me outside the classroom, these days I do not mind it as I am seeing things develop from outside the situations. Due to Kali Yugna, it is better to keep a step back and view things without becoming absorbed as one may not be acting in the best KC manner.

I can live in isolation for now and live in the company of KC people via internet and keep few devotees associations who know me well until I have better understanding on the KC movement in time, with strong views and higher spiritual awareness I may know for sure what KC is really about.

The Vedas were songs that were about the nature and our unity with the Mother Earth and we are all one being co-existing separately. Even the eco-system can be a small example of how nature depends on one another to survive.

Karma, The justice energy of Lord Krishna

All of this is what I believed Krishna Conscious to be for many years,

Are we really individuals (? Is questionable – are we really individual souls?), Soul’s that are evolving and devolving up and down through the different species of life. We may be seeing our individuality from the material body sense.

People may assume their souls to be separate/individual and controlled by their own efforts to be KC. There is a limit to this as well, and that is why KC movement encourages us to preach and share the KC knowledge and not to keep it to ourself. As we are not this body and our souls extend out towards another dimension that only Srila Narada Muni may have really seen.

We may assume we are separate and make our endeavor to go back to God but really all the people on the earth are our alternate beings in the form of humans, animals and inanimate objects. We coexist in more then one place at one time across all universe but remain under the power of the Lord Krishna who is our Supreme conductor of our limited sense intellectual/?existance.

Just as many drops of water makes the ocean we jivas are like drops of water all traveling to the main ocean and if one drop is left behind then there is shortage of water on the other side the shortage is like a missing limb only we are living in maya and assume we are this body and work alone to find our peace with Krishna. But Krishna will send us back if we have not seen this simple connection we have between us all as living entities.

This is what I believed KC to be. However I do understand that all people are moving at different KC pace depending on their ability, Even KC devotees are evolving on different levels of self-realization. So they are not to be judged as bad when they make errors’ as we are all fallible in our material existence and the mind sense has limited intelligence.

We should not judge other peoples KC activity and the efforts they make because of our understanding on our weakness as material forms trying to live a spiritual dimension from within a material world.

The challenge is how we can live a KC life in the material world, some may find it easy to retreat and take shelter in the Lord Krishna and sing his praise, some may want to help other life form’s as they can see Krishna is everywhere, however they may not make good judgments to help all the time and fail then karma will perhaps take charge of their failings. Perhaps it is not the wisest way to go back to God because of the effects of Karma in their failed effort to do good deeds.

But not helping and being in a cocoon is also not really very good thing to do either, so how do we overcome karma as this is one reason why we are reborn back into this environment. By heping in a detached manner without expecting anything back in return, and what if we fail to help as we are not all knowing as Krishna is.

Perhaps by our efforts to educate the people by providing them with KC understanding, this may be helpful as Kali yugna is getting worse every day and there is another 350 million years perhaps before we as a human race decide to cry out for help to God to save us and when we all are then aiming to have our father beside us then and only then he will come in person. We really do need to have same needs – for God to come, hopefully sooner. So by preparing the Krishna Conscious movement we are building up a collective Krishna conscious awareness. We can get help sooner then later?

When we all want to have Krishna come to save us and we all think of his existence then ultimately this Earth will in the process stop existing as all Jivas will have a new evolutionary advancement they are aiming for. W e can be transported to live with Krishna and if this place does no longer exist we are never going have to be born here on Earth again, unless if some Jivas think to be here and decide it should exist.

We need to go back to God, not alone but with al the Jivas. This is why we are spreading KC news. We do not want this Earth to be existing, because there is only suffering here, and we all have brought it to exist so we experience, not enjoyment but suffering. Why? – Perhaps to appreciate Krishna and to be his servant.

Why has Krishna made our existence limited to our sense organs then? What is the reason for that? Is there a real ‘other’ reason we do not know about? Perhaps the real purity of a soul cannot be seen unless it is placed in a karmic situation and we are under analysis?

Srila Narada Muni is a transcendental space man, and I want to know what he saw, did anyone ask this to his Divine Grace Swami Prabhupada?

Preaching and singing the praise of Lord Krishna is all great stuff if we also know who we all truly are and how we are all connected. There is no real division between all Jivas.

Currently most humans are aiming towards material fulfillment and living ‘individual existence’ that is all maya and sense enjoyment. His Divine Grace Swami Prabhupada said that humans are living like animals. When I look around, and see that animals have more sense then humans do, it is a disgrace and we are not fit to be called Humans. The word ‘human’ was made-up by humans, so it is in itself a meaningless word.

I write a lot but I still need assistance in being Krishna Conscious person, I do not know anything prabhu madhudavisa, please someone said that I am to ask questions to a person with SP on their name. I assume it means His Divine Grace Swami Prabhupada?

I believe you have this on your name?

why did you burst my bubble. I go to a Christian school (but not christian) and it is so boring in bible and i need just the slightest thing to show god doesnt exist or he wasn’t the creator of all thing or whatever it is he did. 🙂 🙁
