Dear Madhudvisa dasa,
First of all, the new design and layout of the site is very pleasing to the eyes. It augurs well on a tablet too.
I browse through the topics in this site and found your reply to the questions in the comments very interesting and helpful.
If you may please, I have just one to ask you. I have asked this to devotees of the local Hare Krishna Temple, but I have got very esoteric replies. In the sense, I find them not practical.
I am an IT business professional in a big corporation in the US. I am married and have a 4 month old son. My wife is not much of a reader of Srila Prabhupada’s writing.
I am striving to chant 16 rounds, read at least half an hour of Srila Prabhupada’s books and listen to his lectures and other devotees.
My Problem is this:
Srila Prabhupada says, that one must devote all his energy in the service of the Lord. One must in is his action remember, dedicate and surrender his action to Krishna. But I want to know, how is that possible in my workplace, where I am engaged in business transaction that has nothing to with ‘service to Krishna or Srila Prabhupada’? How is that possible at home, where I have to engage with my wife and relatives in chores that has nothing to do with service to Lord Krishna. That includes going out for groceries, movies, dining, and gossiping and familial gathering.
The above article says, “ always think of Krishna”. But how do I do that when my mental faculties are for example, number crunching product sales report? Yes I can do that, when there are no deadlines hovering on my mind, but there are no such days for working people like myself. When there is nothing on my mind, I think about the pastimes of Krishna. But that is it. I do not do anything, no action, just thinking. I wish, I could somehow, have the knowledge to dedicate my every endeavor to Him. This will motivate me to do my best too.
When I speak to devotes, their replies include the following:
1. Donate your salary to the temple since money is the fruit of my efforts at work
2. Change your job
3. Preach to people around you and in the office
4. Make a software for Krishna’s service.
There must be a way, where whatever I am doing, I could dove-tail my consciousness in His service. That even includes sitting in office meeting. But how do I do it. How do I dedicate my every activity even though they aren’t the same as the ones of a temple devotee, to Krishna?
Could you suggest?
Could you please find some references where Srila Prabhupada has instructed on this matter so that I authenticate it?
It will help a great deal,

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
My query is answered. I will continuing working for the temple and be diligent in using Krishna’s money received as salary. If the Lord so wishes and i am not working in the temple, then wherever i am , i would offer the fruits of that work for Krishna’s service. That should be my endeavor.
Thank you for your patience and help prabhu.
Many thanks and regards,

PS: Let me add, i am not a saffron clad devotee or ghrihsta. I was interviewed for the job at hand. Is it okay to salary from the temple?

I work in one of the ISKCON temples as an employee in the accounts department. I do get monthly salary and pay my taxes too. Would you say, i shouldn’t be taking a salary from the temple. If not, how would you think i could support myself and family?
In that case are temple devotees to be trained for such works?
Please throw some light. This question has been haunting me for some while now. Please kindly reply.

Greetings To you.
Earlier You said, That one cannot give up the desire to eat tasty food, But one can purify the desire by offering the food to Lord Krishna.
I have Two Questions.
1. If I want to taste a palpable dish, that desire first originates in my mind. But i then realize, the only way it would be right, is to offer that food first to Lord krishna. So, whilst i prepare the food I SO DESIRE to eat , my mind laments that i am indulging in a hogwash self deluding exercise; that IT IS ME WHO WANTS TO EAT IT AT FIRST PLACE, i am actually at the end of it preparing the food for myself since the ORIGINAL DESIRE AROSE IN MY MIND, I AM WAITING when it will touch my tongue, all i care is WHEN will i have it; Krishna is just a ‘sanctifying excuse’ to saTisfy the spirtual in me. Though, it is said, one should do for ‘krishna’s pleasure’, here, i know i am ultimately preparing this food, because I WANT TO EAT IT, and Krishna is a stop-over.
What is your view on this? I hope, i have been able to portray it correctly. I mean, It is ultimately MY DESIRE to have that food, and i just cannot wait its preparation and its aroma, and it touching my tastebuds. Lord krishna is a ‘purity seal’ to satisfy my spiritual side and obligations. I am making the dish at the FIRST PLACE, BECAUSE I NEED IT because i cannot live without it, and Offering to krishna comes as a COSNEQUENCE of it, as routine secondary. This makes me feel guilty, and not genuine in my endeavours in offering the food. 🙁
2. What prayers are to be said while offering food to Lord Krishna. What is the way, to offer the food to Lord krishna. Is there a mantra, or special prayer?
Please do reply and Help,
Appreciate much your time and Guidance,
