Worshiping the Demigods

That is alright, Prabhu. I shall keep reading Prabhupada’s books as I have been doing.
Hare Krishna.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I have not been receiving newsletters for a while now. Would you please tell me whether they have not been sent ? If they have, it will probably be a problem on my side.
Thank you.

Demons Never Surrender to Krishna

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
My question isn’t strictly related to this article, but only somewhat. I read somewhere on this site that investing money is demonic. Would you please explain how this is so?
My parents are going to invest in my name as well as theirs. I tried to tell them that it is bad, but they just told me I was young, didn’t know much about the world, & that we need the money for my college etc.
I request you to somewhere write a separate article on this. Many, many people seem to think that there is no harm in investing & insurance like life insurance & stuff like that.
Thank you.

How to offer food to Krishna?

Hare Krishna Prabhu,

I wanted to ask about 2 foods – honey & milk. Honey is taken from the bees who collect it for their use, & sometimes bee eggs are crushed along with it, hence whether or not to have honey ?
Secondly, I read somewhere that only that milk must be had, which comes from a happy & content cow, which is not pregnant, allowing the calf to have its share, & milk must not be pasteurized, homogenized & the like. We cannot control these factors, nor can we keep a cow & milk it everyday. So must milk be had ?

Thank you.

Meditational Yoga — The Prerequisites

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
Thank you for your reply. I shall try to visit Mumbai for original books.
As for the ISKCON centres, won’t they have the so called ‘revised & enlarged’ edition of Gita ? And isn’t ISKCON Bangalore itself a branch of this ISKCON, how will it have further centres/branches of it ?

» Posted By Kaustubh On December 18, 2014 @ 6:17 am

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I know ISKCON has heavily revised Bhagavad Gita As It Is, so it’s no longer As It Is. So I have downloaded the original Gita & started reading it.
My question is, have other books by Swami Prabhupada, like Perfect Questions Perfect Answers, or The Laws of Nature, been revised by these non-devotees ? It is that I wish to gift such books to my friends & family, & they are easily available in nearby bookstores. I, of course, make a point to read books from this site itself, but it wouldn’t look good gifting a PDF file. So are the books unnecessarily revised or not ?
Thank you.

The Absolute Necessity of a Bona Fide Spiritual Master

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
First of all thank you for clearing my doubts on a spiritual master. I will search for & read books written by Swami Prabhupada.
But secondly, and forgive me if you feel offended, I cannot think of my parents as demons. They did raise me & they worship Krishna along with demigods. They fast & pray and have faith in spirituality. But on the other hand, they eat meat & drink tea. They only pray on ceremonies. So what category do they really fall in ?
And finally, demonic or not, is it not our duty to keep on trying to lead people towards Krishna Consciousness ? So should I do that, as I have been for months now, or should I just ignore their habits completely ?
I would be grateful if you cleared these doubts. Thank you & Hare Krishna.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I am 16 years old & very interested in the path to Krishna Consciousness. But people keep telling me not to focus on it & just on my studies right now. I feel uneasy telling them, including my parents, that spiritual progression is important as well. Please tell me how this discomfort ,of being one person trying to be Krishna Conscious among so many not trying to at all, can be reduced.
Also, I have no spiritual master as of now. I used to have a Sanskrit teacher who preached spiritual things, but I had to leave that school. Will the mental presence of him as well as Swami Prabhupada be sufficient ?
I am sorry if my doubts feel silly to you. I am just a boy trying to find my way in this world.
Thank you.

The Ten Offenses in Chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra

It is true that people get addicted to such stuff, & thus should refrain from it. But it is not my intention to drink any kind of tea or coffee. I am merely curious about it – and I do hope you will answer my doubt more clearly – since the drug caffeine is the one causing addiction, would it not be true that de-caffeinated drinks do NOT produce addiction/intoxication ? Plus, coffee beans are grains. I’ll clarify again that this is just curiosity. Thank you.
Hare Krishna !

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
Could you please clarify for me how tea & coffee are intoxicating ? I get that people get addicted to them, my parents are, but technically they are stimulants. Also, is herbal tea, green tea okay ? And since the caffeine is the problem, are de-caffeineated tea & coffee okay ? Thank you.

Prasadam — What is it and why we should not eat anything else.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I’ve tried on several occasions to convert my family to the path of Krishna, but neither my mother, nor father have much interest in it. My elder brother has openly declared his atheism. I barely can even mention the Lord to them, as whenever I do, they foolishly think I will leave everything to later become a sannyasi. I have thus failed miserably. I don’t think she will cook for Krishna.
Me cooking is not possible either as I have high school & tuition classes throughout the day. Even when I come home I have to study as there is a lot to study to get entrance in med school.
I apologize for complaining this much. I shall try to follow your instructions to the best of my ability. Thank you so very much for them.
Hare Krishna.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I tried to post this comment before, but I don’t think that it got posted. Anyway, I wanted to tell you, that as a student, I can’t cook my own food, but my mother cooks it for me. Now it is a sin to offer Krishna that food which has been cooked by non-devotees. So please guide me on this, Prabhu. How do I offer food to The Lord ?
Thank you.

2012 — The End of the World?

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
How does modern day science say that the earth is 4.5 billion years old ? Did there not exist a time when there was no human life, just dinosaurs & others ? If so, how come that was a part of Satyuga ? Please elaborate.

The Mystery of Deity Worship

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I’m sorry for sending the message twice & replying so late. It was because I had been facing some technical difficulties.
I would like to thank you for your response to it. Indeed I will just sleep 7 hours per 24 and try to reduce it gradually. Thank you very much.

» Posted By Kaustubh On October 24, 2014 @ 2:36 am

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
You might not remember it, but I’m the 16-year-old whom you gave advice to about a spritual master. I greatly thank you for that.
The doubt I have here isn’t directly related to deity worship, but to SLEEP. You mentioned that the deity must be worshipped 4 a.m. to 10 p.m., which would mean getting 6 hours of sleep, as the Gita says is adequate. But I find 6 hours of sleep isn’t sufficient for me, but 7.5 hours is needed [I want to point out that modern-day science says 9 hours is needed for adolescents]. Nevertheless, I feel worried now. Is this needing 7.5 hours of sleep the bad effect of maya, or is this amount of sleep adequate for my age ? Please respond. Thank you.

Should I be worried that I need more than 6 hours of sleep, which is due to the bad effect of maya, or is the 6 hour regimen for adults only, & 7.5 hours for a 16 year old like me is alright ? Thank you.

Ekadasi Vrata

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
I was born in Maharashtra, India, & still live there. Surprisingly, here the ritual of fasting at Ekadashi is very different. One can eat sabudana khichdi (sago with groundnut), varai (ground millet) & other such beans & grains, while vegetables are completely banned. When I asked my parents about this, they said that this has been going on for a very long time now, & that they wouldn’t break it.
If you know why this happens, please inform me of it.

    Hare krishna Prabhuji.,Dandvat Pranaam
May i know about the author of the book”Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita As It Is” named mukund das prabhu.Had he any personal association with Srila Prabhupada.

    • This book is a compilation of direct quotes from Srila Prabhupada speaking about his own life. The author is Srila Prabhuapda, all Mukunda did was compile the quotes and he did a good job of it. He wrote a bit of rubbish on the last 2 pages but apart from that he did not write a single word in the book. It is a collection of Prabhupada quotes and the author of this book is Srila Prabhuapda.

  2. Vamshi says:

Prabhu Madhudvisa Dasa.Is Jagannath Krishna himself or is just an expansion of Krishna like Vishnu,Rama etc.In Iskcon lectures I heard that Jagannath is Krishna himself, they have proved this by saying a story from Skanda purana. Is this true or Iskcon lectures are just bogus?I found no video Prabhupad talking aboyt Lord Jagannath.Oh Prabhu kindly answer my doubts.Hare Krishna

    • Yes. Lord Jagannatah is Krishna Himself. It is Jagannatha [Krishna] Balarama and Krishna’s sister Subhadra.

So Jagannatha is deity form of Krishna. He is representation of Krishna with His brother Balarama and sister Subhadra,

It is deity manifestation of Krishna, Balarama and Lady Subhadra,

    Jai Govind

I request you clear my doubts.I understand the complexities of life processes, cellular mechanisms and other natural phenomenon cannot be explained solely by reasoning and scientific theories as somewhere or other our knowledge is limited.I am a science student nd nature lover. After reading the article posted by you regarding the concept of the origin of life,a question arisen in my mind that krishna is all powerful, then, why he designed this universe in this complicated way?,why life originated? why he made all that dna etc matter space?what is his true nature? why are we given these bodies these reasoning abilities?why krishna waited for billions of years and made us take birth here?why prakrati and purush got seperated? who were those dinosaurs etc for souls are eternal were those dinosaurs primitive and other organisms we only? are there any planet lest earth having life?why will happen atlast for we are ultimately destined to reach our eternal govind? why doesn’t he appears now and clear all these doubts for one thing is sure that if even he messages in some ways we will submit to him?why krishna is so naughty why has he made everything complicated?I know these are childlish questions but still worthy to be answered…..

I am a krishana devotee.I feel as if there is pure love for him deep in my heart. But at the same time I do believe in science.Sometimes i find myself stuck in between science emotions belief and devotion.I want to understand my Govind,I want to understand myself.

I request my friends to please give answer to these questions.I hope i will get atleast answers of a few questions as i found this site quite appealing.

    thankyou!
    Radhe krishna

    • Hare Krishna Jai Govind

To clear your doubts you have to become Krishna conscious. Because unless you become Krishna conscious you will not be able to understand what Krishna consciousness is and you will remain continually bewildered.

All these questions are irrelevant. You seem to accept that Govinda exists, that He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now you have to just surrender to the idea that you are His servant. And then you need to find out practically how you can engage in the service of Krishna. And to find out how to do this you need to read Srila Prabhupada’s books. And in the process of becoming Krishna conscious all your other questions will automatically be answered.

The scientists can not understand anything. They only have very fragmental information about everything they study. The information we can gather through our material senses is very limited. There are so many things we can not perceive through our material senses. So they can not understand what they can not perceive.

So instead of just speculating all these questions and being bewildered like this it is better to just admit that in our conditioned state with our very limited mind and our material senses we can not hope to understand Krishna or even this material world which is created ultimately by Krishna.

The way to understand these things is to become Krishna conscious. We can not understand without becoming Krishna conscious.

So you have to learn how to become Krishna conscious… That is the answer to all your questions. And Krishna consciousness is a science and that science is very elaborately presented in the books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

      Madhudvisa dasa
