Dear Madhudvisa dasa,
I am still not clear on the specific operations of Rahu (incidentally, I confused “lunar” eclipse with “solar” eclipse in my original question) – but then you are open about the fact that it is something of an enigma to you also. Which is honest and fair.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Peace and best wishes,

I read the post with interest. However, I am not clear on your assertion that Rahu “hides in the shadow of the moon” given that you also claim that during a “lunar” eclipse, you say that the moon goes behind the sun (or is permanently further from us than the sun) and it is Rahu which, in fact, blocks the sun.
When you say “hides in the shadow of the moon”, I take that to mean that it is behind the moon. If that is not correct, then please clarify.
And if my assumption is correct (that by “hides in the shadow of the moon” you mean that Rahu is substantially behind the moon – or, at least, between the moon and the sun) then how can it block the sun during a “lunar” eclipse, since to hide in the shadow of the moon, it must be behind it.
Please clarify this point.

Dear Guru Brother,
Can you please enlighten me few facts regarding mantra japa.
a) It is said that one should fix a place and time for mantra japa to attain maximum results and I believe it too. But when one is travelling it is hard to maintain the time and place. Or suppose you are on someone else’s place. What is the best way to solve the problem?
b) If we carry bead bag and japa mala with us during travel. Then it occurs that when ever we go to any restroom or use place like it. Does our japa mala get malicious due to it. How to keep the sanctity of japa mala?
c) Can we wear japa mala. But again while doing daily chores it gets malicious. Please confirm how it should be managed.
Thanks for your guidance.

Some of the greatest arguments Srila Prabhupada put forth from the scriptures against the Mayavadi philosophy is by illustrating how the Mayavadis contradict themselves every time.
For example, [let me paraphrase] God the Supreme is said to be infallible, yet the Mayavadi claims each and everyone of us is “God”. So the question arise, how do the infallible God even fell in the first place?
Also, if God is above Maya, how in the world did He came under Maya? Furthermore, how do an eternally separated, spiritual units could ever “merge” into the Supreme Soul to become “One with the Supreme” contradicting the “eternally separated”?
The cases of demon soul “merging” into the body of Krishna, such as Kamsa, is compared to birds perching in a tree branch. The ego, individuality and separateness is never lost. The birds do not, at any point in time, becomes the tree.
The problem with such “merging”, however, is that there is high chances of again falling down since the ego of that particular soul was never purified to begin with through proper path realization.
It’s no brainer to understand that the sun, sunlight and the heat are same yet different aspects of the sun. If it were so each of us can claim to have landed on the sun itself right now by standing on its rays.
Likewise, just because each of us is a part and parcel of God, similar in quality but jarringly limited in quantity, do not in any way can we claim ourselves to be God.
Mayavadis often take the analogy of rivers and oceans. The property of water seemingly entertains their idea of wanting to be God. But it is known today that the property of water sourced from each differing rivers never loses its identity. For example, each river water carries with it minerals and other contaminants unique to it. When it floods the ocean, the part of the ocean where these rivers dominate retain their identity different from the whole ocean itself.
Similarly, with rain, each rain cloud are unique in the sense that they carry the water properties correlating to the topography of that area and, therefore, the rain water also retain their own unique identity even though it is still water, in that particular area.
It’s like the fingerprint each of us has which at first glance appears identical but astronomically different at a closer look.
The variety & separateness is a universally exhibited feature everywhere right before our senses if we are not dull enough to look at it.
Ego maniacs such as the Mayavadis tries to employ tautology and dozens of other logical fallacy to mislead a sincere but gullible public by preying on their false ego and a weakened intellect.
If you thought, Nietzsche or his followers (aka materialists/nihilists) you see everywhere today were ego maniacs, think again. They are egotistical but their inflated ego is nowhere near the mayavadis.
The underlying cause for the Mayavadi philosophy is to guard and feed the unquenchable false ego and also to deliberately and knowingly challenge God by trying to undo His greatest desire to uplift fallen souls towards Him. That’s it!
If you are still not convinced about Mayavadis claiming themselves to be God by implicitly stating “…many other persons also claim to be God”…then, go no further than the litmus test of “lifting-the-Govardhana-with-their-pinky-challenge.” Just cordially ask those so called “sadhus” or their “gurus” to prove their “God-ness”.
Also, checked if these so called “yogis” or “became-God” possess unparalleled beauty [unlimitedly] to begin with. Just take a look at them. Also, checked if they possess unlimited fame, wealth, knowledge & renunciation. Ask them what are you thinking right now. Seriously, ask!
Another, simple fact from the life of Lord Sri Krishna (The Supreme Personality of Godhead) you can refer to when anybody claim that he/she is “God” is to see if they exhibit Supreme powers of baby Krishna – Gopal Dev, when they were an infant.
If Krishna ever “became God”, how exactly did He began to exhibit all those mind boggling powers at such an early age without even faintest hint of “kundalini yoga” or “tapasya” etc?
For argument’s sake let us say “it is because Krishna has already achieved siddhis in His past life” but everytime Krishna appears in His previous avatars and countless other avatars that even the Vedas for this Universe couldn’t cover, why did each and every one of those avatars exhibited those extraordinarily God awesome powers without any effort, every single time without much delay, if any at all?
And why did those seemingly countless “blunders” [which of course He planned and enacted to flavor His past times] of Krishna [such as numerous rule breakings and bendings, which sometimes are outright “sinful” from our mundane perspective] did not in any way affected the merit of His siddhis?
There are numerous examples which proves that Lord Sri Krishna was the One and the only Supreme Personality of Godhead, The Bhagavan, if you carefully study the past times of Lord Sri Krishna.
In conclusion, Mayavadis are the reason why humility and purity is greatly emphasized in Bhakti Yoga.
We may begin to clue in why the Supreme Lord was harsh with ‘Romaharsa Suta’ or ‘Chota Haridas’. It’s because when the potential spiritual gatekeepers became corrupt it deprives infinite souls with their right to be in communion with God Supreme, Sri Krishna. It is the worst crime!

the bible said that even the very elect will believed a lie, let me tell youa story in the bible, moses went to mount sinai to receive the tablets of commandment from God, He was just away for days and guess what the children of israel did in his absent, they made a golden calf to be worship.
people are clinging to new things and things they haven’t tried!!! but it is sad that that there are hundred of testimonies who cameout of the hare krishna organization that are dissapointed, like child abuse women molestation and brainwashing etc.etc….only in Jesus Christ that man can have peace as He invites every hare krishna member to come out from among them for He (Jesus) will abundantly pardon you “come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest….”

Acts 20:28 Jesus died for the church. a church is not yet perfect as a matter of fact it is a place where criminals and sinners and all bad people should be, because it is design to be a safe haven for all that are needing
a savior. someone who can forgive their sins and not be guity. a church is not the building it is the people that gather in that building are the church in which the Son of God died for. so that they who will accept and ask forgiveness from God will be pardon from all sins.
Krishna is a cult because people there try to convince others that by becoming one of them can be sinless James 2:10 says “you can keep allthe commandment all your life, but if you offend just one of these commandment you are guilty of all

Hare Krishna! If you believe in the scientific proofs let me tell you NASA has released a photograph which clearly shows the bridge between india and Sri lanka which is not visible from ordinary eyes but only from sky.
Sri lanka was much larger a few thousand years back due to cold weather and much of the ice was in glaciers.
Krishna’s Dwarika is found beneath the sea in Gujrat which has mention in ancient texts. There is mention of multiverses as against universe which is very much scientifically possible. We do not even know 0.000000000001 percent of what is around us and just gauging everything scientifically is not possible and “what scientifically you know is abolute truth” thinking this is totally arrogant and absurd. A few years back we knew nothing can travel faster than light but now we know neutrons can. So dude, keen an open mind, read those ancient texts and make some sense.

Dear Site Administrator,
I believe that these divine lectures/discourses are not worthy to be subjected for comments or discussion as they are spoken by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhuapda (a well recognized ‘Mahajana’). These lectures and deliverences may remain beyond the level of understandings of many common souls of the materialistic society. It may unnecessarily invite disgrace to the holy discourses. Thanks.

Really are some people stupid enough to believe this piece of junk landed on the Moon, then took off again?

Krishna prefaced that Jeev Hatya is necessary to establish Dharma. M’hmad preached Jihad is necessary to establish religion. Is there a parallel here?

This eplains to me why both John and George were taken from their bodies at relatively young ages. The only step really required for liberation of the sole is the obliteration or dissolution of the ego self into the Godself. This is the greatest challenge for any spiritual aspirant. Now imagine how uch ore dificult it would be if you were say a Beatle like John and George. Constant distractions wherever you go,peole asking for autographs and praising you constantly. All the fame and the money would make it so much harder. The higherself is merciful and John and George were begging for liberation. So much of their lives focused on attaining oneness with their Godself. The beautful music they wrote required a great deal of focus and attention ( Meditation is attention)I would say that although some might see their passing as the absense of God I see it as the merci of God and beleive they were removed from the physical vestures riddled with distraction and an overpowering Ego and placed in a body somewhere perhaps in a highly spiritual family where they could further their journey Godward with all the love and support needed.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
Thank you very much for such a wonderful reply. I have seen these things about the Gaudiya math too and even some Iskcon devotees leaving Iskcon to join the Gaudiya math because they convinced them that Srila Prabhupada can only preach up to the level of Vaidha bhakti and only their Narayan Maharaja can preach up to the level of Raganuga Bhakti and other offensive things like that. So some matajis who used to serve really nicely at my local Iskcon temple went away like that to the Gaudiya maths.
And just another question, what about things like getting the Gayatri Mantra in second initiation? And can I chant on Tulsi beads? Because I had been chanting on Neem beads ever since because I was told that we should wait till initiation to chant on Tulsi.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,
Thank you so much for this wonderful service you are doing for Srila Prabhupada, it is soo inspiring.
I consider Srila Prabhupada my guru and don’t feel like taking initiation from anyone else. His books have turned me into a completely different person and cured my on going depression for 10 years. But I have one question, how will I get my spiritual name? and without the ‘formal’ initiation, will I be considered disciple of Srila Prabhupada and part of the gaudiya sampradaya?
