Nandulal — Krishna in Vrindavana Play — Bilvamangala Thakur and the Prostitute
A very beautiful play describing a devotee’s trip to Vrindavana.
This devotee is blind and when he arrives in Vrindavan a young boy befriends him. After sometime he realizes that this friend is actually Krishna.
This short film describes Bilvamangala Thakur, a great devotee of Krishna, who in his previous life was a prostitute hunter.
He was so attached to the prostitute Cintamani that one night in a terrible storm he still managed, with great difficulty, to come to Cintamani’s house for his sense gratification.
Cintamani was amazed that Bilvamangala could come to her on such a terrible night. And, as she was a devotee, she advised Bilvamangala that it would be so wonderful for him if he had such strong attachment to Krishna as he had for her material body.
This instruction from the prostitute Cintamani changed Bilvamangala’s heart and from that moment on he decided to go to Vrindavan and develop love for Krishna. But unfortunately his lusty desires were still not eliminated so when he saw a beautiful woman on the way to Vrindavan he again wanted to have intimate contact with her.
Bilvamangala became so frustrated with his eyes because they saw the beauty of the women and distracted him from his quest for Krishna in Vrindavan that he asked the woman for her hairpins and with them stabbed his eyes so he would no longer be distracted.
Bilvamangala continued his journey to Vrindavna as a blind man. When he arrived in Vrindavan a beautiful young boy took care of him and braught him hot milk…
