Original Teachings of Lord Caitanya (text) PDF Download

Prahlada-Nrsimha Prabhu and Mother Ahaituki Bhakti d.d. have produced, for the first time, a digital version of Srila Prabhupada’s original 1968 Teachings of Lord Caitanya. It is a very wonderful service to preserve this book and you can download the complete book from this page.
This is a text file, not a scan of the original book file.

About the Author

My first contact with a Hare Krishna was a most merciful Mataji in Oxford Street, London who sold me a "Higher Taste" cook book in 1984 while I was on holidays there. I started seriously reading Srila Prabhupada's books in Australia 1985 and by 1986 Srila Prabhupada had convinced me "Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead" and "we should surrender to Krishna." I joined the Hare Krishnas in Perth, Western Australia in 1986. Since then I have been chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, reading and distributing Srila Prabhupada's books and preaching as much as I can. That's my life and full-time occupation now really. I like it more than anything I've ever experienced before. Srila Prabhupada's books are so amazing... Even after reading them all many times they're still fresh and new. They are truly transcendental! That's it really. Now I'm just hankering to once again see the world chant Hare Krishna, dance and feast and float away in the ecstasy of Lord Caitanya's Sankirtana movement as it did in Srila Prabhupada's physical presence. Let the whole world drown in the ecstatic flood of love of Krishna!

  3. Ashish says:

  4. Crysta says:

    Prabhu,

In Mad 8 of CC , chapter 20, text 374 , the Lord says:

“As explained in the ELEVENTH CHAPTER of Bhagavad-gita, Krsna has spread
Himself all over the universe in many personalities through specific powers,
    known as vibhuti.”

But the next two verses which he recites from the Bhagavad Gita is from the TENTH CHAPTER.
This is disturbing my mind. How can Lord Krishna make an error?

    Kindly remove my bewilderment….

    • Krishna doesn’t make mistakes. There could be a typographical error made by the human editors…

So do not be bothered by these superficial things. It does not matter what chapter it appears in, IT MATTERS WHAT KRISHNA SAYS. So please just keep reading and concentrate on the subject matter.

      • Brandhi says:

Yes Perhaps the verses were intended. Just cuz a verse may be repeated doesn’t mean it’s a mistake. Perhaps it’s emphasizing a point, so it’s natural to repeat a verse.

  5. Vishal Kathale says:

    Hare Krishna Pr.!
    thanks for the original books.
But are the changes in Prabhupadas books and the books now available in ISKCON centres so significant?
    Please guide me.
since all the present acharyas are allowing the distribution of these books, it may not be significant what I feel.
    Hari bol!

    • The changed books ISKCON are distributing are very significantly changed from Srila Prabhupada’s original books.

The principle is important. Srila Prabhupada stressed and ordered many times that his books can not be changed. The whole principle of change is not relevant in Krishna consciousness. If Prabhupada’s books are changed into something different from the books Prabhupada originally wrote, supervised the editing of and approved of and read himself daily and gave all his classes from then they are no longer authorized.

For a spiritual book the most important thing is that it is authorized. And Prabhupada’s books have to be authorized by Prabhupada. And Srila Prabhupada did authorize his original books. So as soon as they are changed they are no longer authorized.

It is for this reason that there is an eternal Vaisnava tradition to never change the books of the previous acharyas. Even if there appear to be some discrepancies. Out of respect for the previous acharyas and to maintain the authority of the books no disciple will change the books of his spritual master. This is particularly true in Srila Prabhupada’s case because his greatest fear was that after his departure from our physical vision his disciples would change his books and destroy everything. It is for this reason that Srila Prabhupada stresses so strongly “NO CHANGES.” And we see that Prabhupada’s fears were very well founded. As soon as he disappeared form our material vision ISKCON started changing his books. In this way they have destroyed the authority of Prabhupada’s books and destroyed everything.

And you have to know that this is a culture of change that has been introduced into ISKCON and the BBT. Every time they reprint Prabhupada’s books they make changes. Sometimes small changes and sometimes big changes. But they always make changes. And this means that over time the philosophy in Srila Prabhupada’s books will drift away from what Prabhupada originally taught into something completely different.

So it may be true that the books ISKCON are printing today do somewhat resemble the books Prabhupada originally printed. But just wait another 10, 20 or 50 years, after the books have been changed every time they are reprinted. You will find a TOTALLY different book containing a totally different philosophy. This is the problem. The culture of change. Because once the culture of change is established, once it is established that ISKCON and BBT can make any changes they want to in Prabhupada’s books, which is now established, and that is what the BBT are doing these days. Changing Prabhupada’s books constantly. Then the books will be completely different from Prabhupada’s books. It is just a question of time.

So to solve this problem and to save the original teachings of Srila Prabhupada we need to always print and distribute Srila Prabhupada’s original books. Otherwise Krishna consciousness will again very soon be lost from the planet…

So please purchase Srila Prabhupada’s original Sri Caitanya-caritamrta set at:

  6. Vraja Kishor das says:

Thank you for presenting a complete collection of Srila Prabhupada’s books for the Kindle, and at an extremely inexpensive price. I am writing books with Sanksrit diacritics and so far have been frustrated trying to convert them to a kindle / ePub format. Can you please advise me on the proper method? It would be a huge favor.

    • Hare Krishna Vraja Kishor Prabhu

Nice to hear from you, if you are the Vraja Kishor Prabhu I spent some time with at Gita Nagari many, many years ago.

There is a program called ‘Calibre’, if you just search for that on the internet that is the best thing for making eBooks. The Kindle is easy because the fonts on the Kindle include the standard unicode Sanskrit characters so you do not have to worry about the fonts. If you have your documents in the Balaram type of font that is no good, it needs to be in unicode fonts. You can convert from one format to another at Pratyatosa Prabhu’s website at: pratyatosa.com

ePubs are a bit more complex because you have to embed the fonts but thousands of people are doing it and there are hunderds of good guides and tutorials on google for making ePubs with embedded fonts so you just have to search for a guide on google and follow it.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!
