The transcendental vibration established by the chanting of Hare Krishna, Hare Krisha, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare is the sublime method for reviving our transcendental consciousness. As living spiritual souls, we are all originally Krishna conscious entities, but due to our association with matter from time immemorial, our consciousness is now adulterated by the material atmosphere. The material atmosphere, in which we are now living, is called maya, or illusion. Maya means that which is not. And what is this illusion? The illusion is that we are all trying to be lords of material nature, while actually we are under the grip of her stringent laws. When a servant artificially tries to imitate the all-powerful master, it is called illusion. We are trying to exploit the resources of material nature, but actually we are becoming more and more entangled in her complexities. Therefore, although we are engaged in a hard struggle to conquer nature, we are ever more dependent on her. This illusory struggle against material nature can be stopped at once by revival of our eternal Krishna consciousness.

I have bought Bhagavad Gita as it is from krishnastore.com thinking it to be the original, Srila Prabhupada’s work. I have read a lot and the book is really unparalleled and unmatched. It clears all misconceptions regarding the Supreme God and religion and devotional service to perfection. But still I am perplexed as is it the original original book that i have read till so far. It is the 1972 edition. But somewhere i have learned that there is a1968 edition of Macmillan Bhagavad Gita too.
Please please clear this doubt of mine as i really want to read prabhupada’s original work and do not want to be stuck with the duplicate and unauthorized book once again( i have also bought Krishna the Supreme Personality of Godhead from Iskcon earlier and unfortunately very later learnt that it was not original).
Anyone else who has original prabhupada’s bhagavad gita is also free to answer.
The answer will really be of great relief!!!!

Yes. Original Bhagavad-gita As It Is 1972 Complete Edition is the bona fide original Bhagavad-gita approved by Srila Prabhupada.
Yes. There is 1968 Macmillan ABRIDGED edition. The problem with this 1968 abridged edition is Macmillan shortened it to only 400 pages, leaving out most of Srila Prabhupada’s transcendental Bhaktivedanta Purports. So Prabhupada obviously did not like this. And was very happy when Macmillan agreed to print the COMPLETE edition in 1972. So 1968 abridged edition is no good, missing most of Prabhupada’s purports.
