Krishna Never Gets Old

There are some differences between Krishna and ourselves. Yesterday we saw that Krishna and Arjuna are both born around the same time but Krishna could remember everything He had done in all his previous ‘births’ but Arjuna could not. Actually we have trouble remembering even exactly what we did just a few hours ago. If I ask you what you were doing at exactly this time yesterday it may be difficult for you to answer immediately. You would have to dredge your memory to recall exactly what you were doing at the same time yesterday. So this is a very important difference between Krishna and us. Krishna is all-cogniscient, He knows everything: past, present and the future–but we have trouble even recalling exactly what we did yesterday and still foolish men claim to be god. One should not me mislead by such meaningless claims.

There is a saying in the Vedic literature, atmavan manyate jagat: “What I am thinking the whole world is thinking.” It describes the fact that we have the tendency to think others are like ourselves. If I am a very honest man I tend to think others are honest, if I am a criminal I will presume that others are criminals. In reality there are varieties of mentalities and according to our association with the three modes of material nature: goodness, passion and ignorance we develop different types of consciousness.

When we think of Krishna or God we have the tendency to think He is like us. Because we experience things in a particular way we think Krishna will be the same. We see everyone is born, everyone gets old and everyone dies but in the Bhagavad Gita Krishna says:

“Although I am unborn and My transcendental body never deteriorates, and although I am the Lord of all sentient beings, I still appear in every millennium in My original transcendental form.” (Bg. 4.6)

It is very easy to misunderstand Krishna. Krishna appears to take birth from Devaki in Kamsa’s prison house and He goes to Vrindavan as a baby and grows up to become a young man. He goes through His childhood and boyhood and becomes a young man. This is all very familiar to us because we also take birth and and go through childhood then experience adolescence and become an adult. So it appears that we share all these things with Krishna, but we get old and according to Krishna: “My transcendental body never deteriorates.” Krishna never gets old because old-age is a sign that the body is deteriorating and His transcendental body never deteriorates.

Krishna also says in this verse that He appears in His original transcendental form. He does not change His body as the common living entities change from one body to another. We have one type of body in our present birth but we will have a different body in our next birth. In the material world the living entity has no fixed body but transmigrates from one body to another. Krishna however does not change from one body to another like us. Whenever Krishna appears He does so in the same original body by His internal potency. In other words Krishna appears in this material world in His original eternal form with two hands holding a flute. Krishna appears exactly in His eternal body uncontaminated by the material world.

Although Krishna appears in the same transcendental body and is the Lord of the universe, it still seems that He takes birth like us however despite the fact that He grows from childhood to boyhood and from boyhood to youth astonishingly enough He never ages beyond youth. At the time of the battle of Kuruksettra Krishna had many grandchildren so He was quite old by material calculations but when we see a picture of Krishna driving Arjuna’s chariot He still looks like a young man twenty or twenty-five years old. We never see a picture of Krishna in old-age because He never grows old like us although He is the oldest person in the whole creation: past, present and future. Neither Krishna’s body or His intelligence ever deteriorates or changes.

From this we can understand that in spite of Krishna being in the material world, He is the same unborn form of eternal bliss and knowledge, changeless in His transcendental body and intelligence. Krishna’s appearance and disappearance are like the sun’s rising, moving before us and then disappearing from our eyesight. When the sun is out of sight we think that the sun is set, and when the sun is before our eyes we think that the sun is on the horizon. Actually the sun is not moving or changing. The sun is always in its fixed position but because of our defective, insufficient senses we calculate the appearance and disappearance of the sun in the sky.

The Vedas also confirm that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is unborn, yet He still appears to take His birth in multi-manifestations. So although Krishna appears to be taking His birth He is still not changing His body. Actually even Krishna’s so-called birth is very different from our birth, He does not take birth in the ordinary way rather He appears before His mother Devaki as Narayana grown up and complete with beautiful clothing and ornaments with the six kinds of opulences in full. Upon seeing Krishna in this opulent form of Narayan Devaki was concerned that Kamsa is looking for Krishna to kill Him and now Krishna has appeared in this gorgeous Narayan feature full of all opulences. She was afraid that Kamsa would immediately recognize Krishna and try to kill Him.

So out of concern for Krishna Devaki prayed to Him, requesting Him to take the form of a baby. So Krishna accepted this prayer from His mother and transformed Himself into a baby.

So although externally there seems to be some similarity between Krishna’s appearance and activities and our birth and activities on a closer investigation it will be found that actually Krishna’s birth and activities are completely different from our birth and activities. There is another very interesting statement by Krishna on this point in the Gita:

“One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.” (Bg. 4.9)

Therefore simply understanding Krishna’s appearance and activities is so powerful that one who understand the appearance and activities of Krishna is liberated, he does not have to take birth in the material world again and when he leaves the current material body he goes to Krishna, back home, back to Godhead. So I think it will be quite valuable for us if we spend a little time contemplating the appearance and the activities of Krishna and if we can try and understand how they are different from our birth and activities.

About the Author

My first contact with a Hare Krishna was a most merciful Mataji in Oxford Street, London who sold me a "Higher Taste" cook book in 1984 while I was on holidays there. I started seriously reading Srila Prabhupada's books in Australia 1985 and by 1986 Srila Prabhupada had convinced me "Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead" and "we should surrender to Krishna." I joined the Hare Krishnas in Perth, Western Australia in 1986. Since then I have been chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, reading and distributing Srila Prabhupada's books and preaching as much as I can. That's my life and full-time occupation now really. I like it more than anything I've ever experienced before. Srila Prabhupada's books are so amazing... Even after reading them all many times they're still fresh and new. They are truly transcendental! That's it really. Now I'm just hankering to once again see the world chant Hare Krishna, dance and feast and float away in the ecstasy of Lord Caitanya's Sankirtana movement as it did in Srila Prabhupada's physical presence. Let the whole world drown in the ecstatic flood of love of Krishna!

Thanks a lot for your great endeavour.
By God’s grace I am spiritually interested since my young age. Material hankerings are there ,still trying to get liberated from those. I luckily fell into this ocean of Krishna Consciousness a few years back. At this neophyte stage what I feel is Krishna ‘s mercy and His hands are with me so it is easy to understand very fast. So as I try to advance I fear if He might take his hands back so that I have to walk alone which is keeping me away from knowing much. Also I fear if knowing more might make me proud. What should I do?

  4. Sameer says:

    Hare Krishna Madhuvisa Ji,

I have a question for you.

When I worship in any temple or meditate, I feel like krishna and shiva is a one and I do not find any difference in them. Even in a state of meditation when my eyes are closed, I feel a combined form of Shiva and Krishna which you will never find in any idol anywhere.

Please guide me if both are different deities or the same ?

    • Hare Krishna Sameer

Lord Shiva is in his own category. Generally there is Visnu-tattva and jiva-tattva. So Visnu-tattva is Krishna, Visnu, Nrsimhadeva, Rama, etc., all the Visnu incarnations. And jiva-tattva is us, the living entities.

Lord Shiva is different. He is not Visnu-tattva and he is not jiva-tattva. He is in between. The explination is that Lord Shiva is Lord Visnu in touch with the material energy. Visnu is always transcendental to the material energy. But Lord Shiva is in touch with the material energy. The example is milk and yogurt. Yogurt is only milk which has come into contact with some agent that has turned it to yogurt. So you can say yogurt is milk. And actually it is milk. But once it has been turned into yogurt it has completely different properties to milk and can not be turned back to milk again. If you want the benefits from milk you can not get those benefits from yogurt.

So there is no combined form of Shiva and Krishna. There is no good imagining things that don’t exist. You need to go to Krishna temple and see Krishna constantly then when you close your eyes you will see Krishna.

  6. Guruji
I have read of Sidhashram where there lived 1000 year old Rishi Angira. The place is near lama Bazar or namche Bazer near the base camp for the Everest. Can someone tell me if such a place still exist. Or is it merely imagination. I think the truth is I do not deserve to know about it. Krishna let thy kingdom come. Let us all go to Gyangunj Shangrila for a long weekend holiday.

    • Hare Krishna Sunhranshu

Yes. There are places somewhere in the Himalayas where yogis live very long lives. I do not know how much it is going on now in these modern degraded times but at least previously there were many yogis who were very old who would come out for the Kumbha Melas.

But for a yogi to live a long time he has to spend most of his time in meditation like a frog. You know how a frog sleeps during the winter and comes alive again in the summer. So yogis are something like this. They extend their lives by slowing down their breathing. We get a certain number of breaths and when we have exhausted those breaths we are forced to leave this material body. So the yogis slow down the breathing and are thus able to extend their lives. So when they are meditating like this they are not conscious. They are just sitting in some mountain cave somewhere hibernating like a frog…

So I think even if you visit this place you are unlikely to see any actual 1000 year old yogis because if they are 1000 years old they will have to spend most of their time hibernating like a frog…

There is not much point knowing about your previous lives. Yes. Any good astrologer can tell you something about your previous lives. But what is the point? It is in the past and you can not do anything about the past. Rather than looking back into the past we need to be looking forward into the future. We should be aiming at going back home back to Godhead and working towards that.

Although, I peform Japa, read Bhagabad Gita As it is, Perform Kritan with devotees at Iskcon Temple Manipur, Attend Vedic Class of Sunday at Iskcon and Worship Krsna Idol at Home, what I want to know is, what are the things or activities for a Grahasti person to be in pure krsna consciousness. Because, i cannot act like a sadhu/devotees who stay in iskcon temple, perform devotional services of Krsna always, staying away from material desire, devoting whole life/time in Krsna consciousness. I have to perform my duty toward my family, have to keep desire for materialistic things etc. How can i balance or keep in equilibrium my material and spiritual world, so that I could attend the lotus feet of Krsna and go back to godhead, go back to home.
    Please suggest.

    Hare Krsna.

    • Hare Krishna Soram

Srila Prabhupada established the temples to give the standard, to show the example for grhasthas like you. So you simply need to do the same thing in your home. Establish a temple or an alter with some pictures of Srila Prabhupada and Panca-Tattva in your home and every morning get out of bed before 4:00 AM with your other family members and offer Mangal-Aroti, have kirtan and chant Hare Krishna on your japa beads and read from Srimad-Bhagavatam and offer something to Srila Prabhupada and Krishna and take prasadam. Then you can go to work and do you daily duty and in the evening you can come home and offer Gaura Aroti, read from Bhagavad-gita with the family members have Kirtan, take prasadam, etc.

So this is the way. You just do the same things as Srila Prabhupada has established for the ISKCON temples in your home with your family members in the morning and evening and during the day you can do your business as you have to to maintain the family, etc.

That is the way, the only way.

and please tell me about the same at end of each kalpa ??

i will be very gratefull to you if you can please explain to me in detail so i can understand it
i will wait for your replay thanx ??

    • Hare Krishna Dabir

I do not explain much in very great detail here. Really I just explain the simple things and encourage people to read Srila Prabhupada’s books to find all the fine details. So that is what I suggest you do in this case. Read Srila Prabhupada’s Srimad-Bhagavatam. You will find everything you are looking for there.

Really the main point is to become Krishna conscious by chanting Hare Krishna and always remembering Krishna and never forgetting Krishna so we remember Krishna at the time of death and if we remember Krishna at the time of death we will go back home back to Godhead and never have to come back to this material world again. So when we are dancing with Krishna in Goloka Vrindavan it will be quite irrelevant and unimportant, which of the 14 worlds get destroyed in this tiny insignificant universe….

  16. Mahendra says:

hare krishna prji. People not belive in existance of shri krishna even we can give them proof of shastra, historical place. But they belive on man, just like gandhi, shivaji, maharana pratap, even they haven’t seen. Why it is like that?

    • Hare Krishna Mahendra

The demons whole purpose of coming to the material world is to forget Krishna. The demons want to believe that there is no God, no supreme controller, no higher authority. So when we try to remind them about Krishna the do not want to hear it.

But if you give them Krishna prasadam, let them hear the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra and get them to read Srila Prabhupada’s books then that Krishna consciousness that is dormant within their hearts will start to awaken and only at that point they may become a little interested in hearing about Krishna.

So we have to distribute prasadam, distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books, and chant Hare Krishna, and these things will awaken the memory and interest in Krishna in the conditioned souls. Not that we can expect that a non-devotee will immediately be interested in hearing about Krishna from us…

  17. Tanuj Prakash says:

Is krishna died by an arrow by a hunter
    Please clarify it

    • Krishna does not die. The example to understand this is the sun. It appears that the sun takes birth in the morning and dies in the evening. But it is not actually like that. What happens is the sun comes within our view in the morning and disappears from our view in the evening. But the sun does not die in the evening. No. When it is evening for us it is morning on the other side of the earth. So as the sun is setting for us it is simultaneously rising in another country.

So Krishna’s appearance and disappearance is like that. Krishna appeared to take birth from Mother Devaki but actually Krishna is unborn, He does not take birth, similarly it may appear that Krishna disappeared due to an arrow by a hunter. This story is there. But this is just an appearance. A show. Like Krishna taking birth from Mother Devaki was also a show. He did not actually take birth. He appeared fully grown in his four-handed Narayana feature.

So this thing, understanding Krishna’s birth, activities and disappearance is not such a simple thing. There is a verse in the Bhagavad-gita you can check out regarding this: janma karma ca ye vidu… Krishna says one who understands My appearance and activities will not have to take birth in the material world again. So it is a good question and if you can understand and realize the answer to this question it will be very nice for you, you will not have to take birth again in the material world…

All glories to Srila Guru Maharaja.
    All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

He appears before His mother Devaki as Narayana grown up and complete with beautiful clothing and ornaments with the six kinds of opulences in full.

Prabhji, My question is when Loard Krishna is serve sarva & no one can beat him. Then why Devki maya was afraid of Kamsa & asked him to become baby?

    • It is called ‘yoga maya’. The devotees of Krishna are also in maya. The materialists are bewildered by maha-maya, and the devotees are bewildered by Krishna’s yoga maya. Yoga maya bewilders devotees like Mother Yasoda and convinces her that Krishna is her child and that He will die if she does not protect Him.

So this is the position of the devotees. They are under yoga-maya and are thinking that Krishna is their son, friend, lover, etc.

I would like to know the detailed procedures to chant the mala correctly. Kindly advice.

    Thanking you in advance

    • Hare Krishna Priya

Naturally in the beginning it is difficult to concentrate while you are chanting the Hare Krishna mantra. But just keep on chanting Hare Krishna anyhow, even if you can’t concentrate on it, just keep on chanting Hare Krishna. That is the way.

We have to chant at least 16 rounds every day.

You can and should chant the Hare Krishna mantra all the time, while you are doing your work around the house, etc. But this is extra. We need to make some time when we can attentively chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra on beads every day. But all the rest of the time, when you are doing the work around the house, etc, always chant Hare Krishna.

Everything will not be clear in the beginning, but the more you chant Hare Krishna and the more you read Srila Prabhupada’s books the more clear everything will become…

Thanks a lot Prabhuji for giving your precious advice on my previous question,Prabhu Ji i am doing all this four regulative principles, Chanting 16 Rounds, reading Srila Prabhupada’s Books & Distributing Books also, But sometimes i am getting attached with my Girl Friend. We both want to avoid it and getting married but due to astrological discrepancies we want Krishna’s Mercy & I always believe in Krishna will help us, So please suggest us how can we both have it and have a better spiritual life. Prabhuji i understand that what i am doing is sin, so i am praying lord & i need you kind suggestion to avoid it Please.

    • Hare Krishna Sanjaya

The two things are the opposite. Sex and spiritual life. The way is to get married and to then only have sex for having children. This is the regulative principle and if we actually want to become Krishna conscious we have to follow the regulative principles. So that is in your hands. That is your decision. You have the power to follow the regulative principles or to break them. It is your choice. Of course to follow the regulative principles in the beginning may be a little painful, but that pain is required to advance. This is tapasya. And there is no spiritual advancement without tapasya.

Of course later we will experience transcendental spiritual pleasure that is unlimitedly better than sex life so then the sex life will no longer be attractive for us. But if we are not prepared to actually surrender and follow the four regulative principles, chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna manta daily and read Prabhupada’s books then we can’t get Krishna consciousness. It is that simple. We have to surrender. If we don’t surrender we will remain in maya forever…

    Hare Krishna, Prabhu.

    All glories to Sri Krishna.

I can understand and realize Krishna’s transcendental nature – that He never gets old. Such a situation is also the Lord’s mercy with those who have attained a spiritual form through liberation from the material world.

How will you describe the incarnations of Krishna such as Kurma, Varaha and Narasimha? While I have read about their appearances, little is known about their disappearances? Did they disappear as soon as their work was over?

Please enlighten me about Krishna’s potencies whenever he incarnates.

    Hare Krishna

    • Hare Krishna Tamil Mani

Prabhu we are very limited and Krishna is unlimited. So we can not hope to comprehend everything about Krishna. The process is to hear submissively from the bona fide spiritual master and from the sastras about Krishna’s pastimes and appearances and activities. This is the process. Submissive hearing. So if you submissively hear from Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita you will find He is advising (janma karma ca me divyam…)

“One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.”

So we have to understand the nature of Krishna’s appearance and activities. And if we can understand Krishna’s appearance and activities then upon leaving this body we will not have to take birth again in this material world but we will go back home, back to Godhead, back to Krishna. So that is the process. Understand Krishna’s appearance and activities. There is no need to understand Krishna’s disappearance. Actually Krishna does not disappear. Krishna’s pastimes are nitya-lila. They are all eternally going on. When one of Krishna’s pastimes stops in this universe it starts in another universe. And it is the same for all of Krishna’s incarnations.

So Lord Nrsimhadeva for example, does not disappear. He is here still now with His devotees and He is still protecting the devotees and killing the demons. Krishna did not disappear. He is still with us now. So this idea that Krishna disappears is a sign that someone does not understand the nature of Krishna.

Krishna does not disappear anymore than the sun disappears. It appears to us in the evening that the sun has disappeared. But the sun is still shining, but it is not shining on our country, it is shining on some other country, and in the morning again the same sun will rise. So the sun is always shining. Sometimes it is within our vision and sometimes it is not. But the sun never disappears. The sun never stops shining. So as you advance in Krishna consciousness you will realize that Krishna never disappears. It is just that sometimes He is not within our vision. But Krishna is always within the vision of His devotees, and He never disappears from His devotees.

So these things have to be understood by actual realization and actual advancement in Krishna consciousness.

Yes. Chanting Hare Krishna will solve all your obstacles. But you can of course see Krishna in the form of the pictures of Krishna and the Deity of Krishna and as you advance more and more in Krishna consciousness you will begin to see Krishna everywhere, you will be able to fell the presence of Krishna within your heart and you will be able to hear Him speaking to you. Krishna is not gone. He is with us, He is everywhere, it is just that our hearts are covered by so much material dirt that we can not see Krishna but this chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra is the process that will purify our hearts and enable us to see Krishna face to face.

    • It is not easy to leave materialistic things. Krishna consciousness is not easy if we are attached to material things. You just have to accept that and surrender to the fact that becoming Krishna conscious is not an easy thing and requires us to give up our material attachments. And you can find out about the childhood of Srila Prabhupada by reading his books and letters and listening to his classes and conversations. In many places he speaks of his childhood and youth.

We have to chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra daily and strictly follow the four regulative principles [no illicit sex, no meat eating, no gambling and no intoxication] and read Srila Prabhupada’s books at least 1-2 hours a day. Hara Krishna Prabhuji,

Thanks for all this Krishna email, i want to know is it true the person who will knows krishna will be the last stage of his human body, As in Maha Bagavad Puran and Geeta God’s Krishna never say ” to do this things will help to feel happy in material world like other books say, He always says to how purify our soul, so we will go back to godhead, As i doing continuous 16 round of chanting and also adpot 4 rules in life, so when that time comes when exactly i see krishan in our heart.
Now my life main motivate to see krishna in this life one time only.

    Dear Prabhu,

As we all know that whoever has taken birth in this Earth he have to die.because it is the law of Nature. So my Question is Lord Ram & Krishna has also taken birth in this earth as a human being like us,we know his birth, child hood, young, But after killing demon Kamsa, what was the next activity of Krishna and how did he disappear for this material world ????

    • Krishna’s appearance, disappearance and activities on this planet are not at all like our appearance, disappearance and activities. If one can actually understand the special nature of Krishna’s appearance, activities and disappearance then he is a liberated soul. So you have to become Krishna conscious to understand this and to become Krishna conscious you have to follow the basic process of saddhana bhakti as Prabhupada teaches us. So do it! Strictly follow the four regulative principles: no illicit sex, no meat eating, no gambling and no intoxication and chant at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra daily and read Srila Prabhupada’s books at least 1-2 hours a day. Without at least coming to this platform there is no spiritual life and you can not hope to understand things like the birth, activities and disappearance of Krishna…

Krishna won’t get old OK.It is an off quoted statement that man is made at the image of God. But we see vareity in them and suject to growing old. Why such discriminations? Please comment.

Krishna appears to take birth as a child and He grows into boyhood and then becomes a young man. But He never ages beyond a young man. He was 125 when he left our vision on this planet but still looked just like a 16-17 year old young man. So Krishna is ever-youthful. He never grows old.

    Can girls pluck tulsi leaves?

    • Yes. But devotees don’t think on the bodily platform like girls and boys. We are all eternally servants of Krishna and the particular body we happen to find ourselves in at a certain point of time is irrelevant. The important thing is if we are devotees of Krishna or not. So devotees can pluck tusli leaves for the purpose of serving Krishna, it does not matter if they are in male or female bodies.

  34. Rishie Ramlal says:

Hare Krishna, A blade of grass cannot shake without the grace of Krishna! Krishna is beyond the mind and reasoning, Krishna is in every atom, his energy is everywhere, Can we have thoughts without the grace of Krishna?

    • Krishna has given us a little independence so we can always choose to serve Krishna or to serve maya. So if we choose to serve maya then we have chosen to reject Krishna. So this rebellious nature is a result of us misusing our independence. It is our fault, not Krishna’s fault. Krishna gives us the choice and we choose to do the wrong thing. So our thoughts in this condition influenced by maya are the result of our rejecting Krishna. We are responsible for that, not Krishna.

We live in a world where everyone is educated that everyone is equal and everyone can be successful at whatever they put their mind to… And of course by austerity one can do something. Like if you study very, very hard then you are likely to get something right on the exam. But there are other people who can just sit in the lectures and immediately understand everything and they do not even have to study, they can just sit down in the exam and write out all the correct answers…

So the modern idea that everyone is equal is wrong actually. We all have our own unique talents and abilities and these examinations are only testing a very small part of this. Really modern education generally only tests a persons ability to remember and repeat some information…. And in most cases they ‘cram’ for the exams and then after a few months forget absolutely everything. So it is useless actually. And anyhow it is all material knowledge, there is nothing spiritual there.

There is nothing you can do about your exam results. You obviously tried your best and that is all you can do. We should not take these things very seriously. Our real business is serving Krishna, devotional service. That we have to take seriously. Other things are only important if they can be used in the service of Krishna.

Just read Prabhupada’s books, study Prabhupada’s books and chant Hare Krishna and you will find all happiness and satisfaction there.

Devotees do not get angry at Krishna when things go wrong in their lives. If something goes wrong devotees know that this is Krishna’s arrangement and they accept it like that. If Krishna wanted you to excel in your studies then He would have made that happen, but it did not happen so Krishna must have some other plan for you…

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

I am keen on knowing God, Lord Krishna, I have visited couple of time to Guruvayoor (in Kerala). Hearing about the Miracles of Guruvayoorappan, I always wanted to know more about the Lord. My mind is longing to know the great lord.

I have committed certain disrespectful acts in my life (though never crossed boundary) and I am repenting on all those acts, I want to cleanse my self and I know only Sree Krishna is sole hope.

I have changed my attitude, behavior and trying to get over the sin I have committed. I have even confessed with my wife.

But my wife still suspects me more than ever. I dont have any answers to her questions.

I never found peace in my life from the day I have done the confession. Please guide me. I am so much frustrated with all these. I am not able to find the right path.

    Regards,
    Raj

You will never find happiness in the material world.
Happiness is only in the spiritual world and we can get there only by the mercy of a pure devotee of Krishna. So please read Srila Prabhupada’s books and he will guide you. You will find all the answers to your questions and real happiness there. Please read Srila Prabhupada’s books…

Very nicely written. Even though sometimes you know that Krishna never goes old but still reading this make your mind fresh. Can somebody enlighten me that how you calculate the age of krishna. Please, help me to understand this. Somebody says he was 90 and some says he was 120 or 125.

I am very much interested to know this.

    Thanks,

  46. Achutha says:

    Swamiji,
It is the common man’s assumption that Lord Krishna was born human, played prnks with gopis as a child, grew up amongst kinsmen, fought injustice, befriended Arjuna, ruled a kingdom, saved many souls and finally left this material world. This is what the common man learns from folklore and holy books in childhood . Most of these mortals do not progress spiritually any further due to various reasons. So no one can blame the ordinary folks for assuming that Shree Krishna too was a mortal like all others , but with divine powers.

    jai shree krishna !

  47. Uma Sridhar says:

    HARE KRISHNA!

    Pranam Swamiji,

I humbly wish to inform you that In India (Chennai) you will have a darshan of ‘Old man Krishna’, yes. there is one Shri Parthsarathi Temple (lord Krishna) in that temple, the deity (Sri Krishna) is having grey moustache because, during Mahabharat Udh, As you have mentioned, he was having so many grand children. Lord Sri Krishna renounced the world at the age of 125.

    Hari bol.

    Uma Sridhar

    • Hare Krishna Uma

Well, if there is a deity of an old Krishna that is not a bona fide deity. This idea that Krishna has many grandchildren so He must be old looking is completely wrong and completely materialistic.

Krishna was at least 120 years old at the time He and Arjuna were fighting on the Battlefield of Kuruksettra. While Arjuna may have looked a little older, Krishna did not. Krishna never ages beyond the young man of about 18-20 years old. That is one of the amazing qualities of Krishna. He never gets old.

So if there is a temple with an old Krishna deity that is not a bona fide temple.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

        Hare Krishna, prabhu.
It that true – that god, that is, our Lord, the architect of this world, the sustainer of this world, our Pitaparmeshwar, our Lord of every planet, the Supreme Lord accepts u only if there is his blessing? there is so much stressed, problems, miseries, unhapiness in this world. One of the common problem is scarcity of time…. Money has become such a powerful thing…… there is no value for sentiment… relationship…..
