Krishna consciousness is a lifestyle which is about as different as possible from the lifestyle we have been trained up to lead in the West. To make the transition training is required. So Prabhupada created ISKCON where he could train his disciples to live a life centered around Krishna and where they could practice pure devotional service…

First-class devotee (Mahabhagavata, uttama-adhikari) does NOT fall down

You are correct when you say that when the Spiritual Master speaks it should be taken that Krishna is speaking. That is a fact. A Spiritual Master must be liberated.
Madhya 22.71 It should be understood that a madhyama-adhikari, a second-class devotee, is fully convinced of Krsna consciousness but cannot support his convictions with sastric reference. A neophyte may fall down by associating with nondevotees because he is not firmly convinced and strongly situated. The second-class devotee, even though he ...Read More

Madhya 24.330 Similarly, a disciple’s qualifications must be observed by the spiritual master before he is accepted as a disciple. In our Krsna consciousness movement, the requirement is that one must be prepared to give up the four pillars of sinful life-illicit sex, meat-eating, intoxication and gambling. In Western countries especially, we first observe whether a potential disciple is prepared to follow ...Read More

My child, your initiation ceremony happened on the same day when you heard my Gayatri tape. Now by the mercy of our Lord, you could see your initiation ceremony. I changed your previous initiated name because that was not proper initiation. You must spread the mission of Lord Caitanya and re-establish the Ritvik System of Initiation which we initiated.—Srila Prabhupada.

WHAT IS INITATION?

This seems like a simple question since so many devotees have taken initiation. But I have asked a few devotees and they seem not to really understand what is real initiation. So this is my humble attempt to try to understand what is real initiation.
It seems that initiation is two fold, but that’s when we look at it from the material point of view. First we have the initiation ceremony or ritual. The ceremony seems fairly simple to understand that ...Read More

Danavir Goswami has published an excellent article on Chakra which quite conclusively establishes that Srila Prabhupada desires his disciples to become qualified gurus and accept disciples. He gives a number of conclusive quotes from Srila Prabhupada on this point and also states that he and all the other disciples of Srila Prabhupada understood Prabhupada was training them to become future spiritual masters during his physically presence on the planet.
