Srila Prabhupada’s 1969 Sri Isopanisad Back in Print

When the BBT editors made extensive unauthorized changes to Srila Prabhupada’s Sri Isopanisad in 1977 Prabhupada, when he learnt of the changes, was very upset and directly ordered the BBT to return the next printing of Sri Isopanisad to the original way it was published without any unauthorized changes. Now, twenty-six years later, the BBT have reprinted Prabhupada’s original Sri Isopanisad. It is very good news.   ...Read More

Urey/Miller Experiment. Life from chemicals?

Urey and Miller followed the scientific method. Chemical compounds used by biological organisms were created using conditions simulating primordial earth, strongly suggesting that this method could eventually produce all the necessary compounds to allow the life force to settle in this realm.   ...Read More

Srila Prabhupada’s books Should Not be changed!

Post-disappearance editorial revisions by conditioned sould to the sacred, memorialized realizations of an exalted Acarya are nothing less than crude, insulting and offensive. Yet, this is precisely what has taken place for two decades and continues to take place by those who, ironically, have a special spiritual duty to preserve Srila Prabhupada’s literary legacy at all cost.   ...Read More

Recordings made from 1972 until 1977, six years, demonstrate how Srila Prabhupada often personally read excerpts from the Gita in classes, room conversations, engagements, etc. Many times he also instructed devotees present to read aloud as he listened. There is no evidence indicating that he ordered extensive revisions for the next printing. As the current chief editor wrote; “To my knowledge, Srila Prabhupada never asked us to re-edit the book.”   ...Read More

The Case Against Changing Prabhupada’s Books Part III

While planning to print the unabridged version of the Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada often referred to it as the revised and enlarged edition. When the BBT published its unauthorized adulterated Gita years later, they would henceforward refer to the 1972 printing as the original edition while calling theirs the revised and enlarged edition. This appears to be a subtle act of deception meant to validate the irreverent practice of changing Srila Prabhupada’s Books…   ...Read More

It Has Always Been Clear to Me that Prabhuapda’s Books Should Never be Changed…

It has always been clear for me that Prabhupada’s books should never be changed, specially once they were edited and accepted by their author, who used them himself to lecture while present. That is why I am keeping the original version of Bhagavad Gita (1975 MacMillan) and not reading from other editions. The message is so clear when you read Srila Prabhupada’s original but when I try to read from the most recent version in some cases the verses, although once familiar to me, become quite unclear.   ...Read More

A History that Could Have Been Avoided

(response to Akruranath’s article Hansadutta Distorts History) Sometime in 1990, we published a Chinese Gita in Singapore when BBT refused to sell us books. In 1992, BBTI launched a copyright infringement suit against Bhima in Singapore. From the outset, Bhima responded, First show proof that you own the copyrights.   ...Read More

Just What is Jayadvaita’s Point?

I was one BBT trustee along with Srila Prabhupada and Bali Mardan when I went to Srila Prabhupada and suggested we reprint his Original Bhagavatams for the pleasure of his devotees who liked the old Indian version… Before finishing my proposal, Srila Prabhupada admonished me saying, no–whatever Hayagriva has done is perfect, I have full faith in him as the editor of my books. This was quite some time after the publication of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad Gita. He went on to say “whatever he (Hayagriva) has done is perfect, do not touch it, I have full faith in him.”   ...Read More

Book Changes: A Dangerous Precedent

There is no precedent in our sampradaya for posthumous, unapproved changes to an acarya’s books. If a devotee needs to clarify a previous acarya’s work for the understanding of his contemporaries, he writes a separate tika and appends it to the original work, leaving the previous acaryas’ commentaries unchanged. This is the accepted practice in the Gaudiya-sampradaya.   ...Read More

All Glories To Srila Prabhupada, the 1968 and 72 Editions of TLC are the same. After that (1974) many changes took place. Srila Prabhupada didn’t really like those changes and wanted that the original TLC be printed again. That didn’t happen and now we have over 1,108 changes in the TLC. In other words the whole TLC was re-written.   ...Read More
