"Not a blade of grass moves without the sanction of the Lord," that is a fact. Nothing happens without the sanction of God. "Man proposes and God disposes."

She exposed part of her body to his view and sat down at his doorstep. She spoke to him in very sweet words, My dear Thakura, O great preacher, great devotee, you are so beautifully built and your youth is just beginning. What woman could control her mind after seeing you? I am so eager to be united with you. My mind is greedy for this. If I don't obtain you

So Bhaktivinoda Thakura is an ideal guru. He was not a sannyasi; he was grhastha, householder, living with family, wife, children. Still, he was guru. So anyone can become guru. Not that a sannyasi can become guru. A householder also can become guru, provided he knows the science

Not that the poor soldiers would fight and the leaders would remain in a secure place, no. The oldest man in the Kuru dynasty, the grandfather of Arjuna and Duryodhana. He was very old man, brahmacari, and he was taking the risk of fighting. This is ksatriya spirit

There is no peace or happiness in our worldly life. Circumstances create turmoil and annoyance.

In the last ten years of his life, in spite of his advanced age, Srila Prabhupada circled the globe twelve times on lecture tours that have took him to six continents. In spite of such a vigorous schedule, Srila Prabhupada continued to write prolifically. His writings constitute a veritable library of Vedic philosophy, religion, literature and culture

Yoga practice is not meant for attaining any kind of material benefit or siddhi (perfection). Yoga is not for improving one's health and the ultimate goal is not to make the mind peaceful. These yogic perfections and peace of mind are by-products of the yogic process but are not the actual purpose or the final goal of yoga. The real purpose of yoga is to enable one to end his material existence and then attain the kingdom of God

I am surprised at the condemnation of other methods of Yoga, especially Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga. Are these methods not as divine as BHAKTI Yoga

We have to mold our life in such a way that twenty-four hours, not a single moment leaving aside, we should be engaged in the service of the Lord’s relations. The Srimad-Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita, the spiritual master, Tulasi-devi, the temple, the preaching, the books—these are all Bhagavata. Just like we are doing daily, trying to read one verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam, discussing amongst ourselves. By this process the dirty things within the heart become cleansed

While other forms of the Lord descended with various paraphernalia to deal with the demoniac and irreligious influences of the time, Lord Sri Caitanya was equipped with the most powerful weapon against irreligion, the Maha Mantra. The chanting of the holy name of Lord Sri Krishna is the sublime and recommended process in this age for the deliverance of all souls from the clutches of maya (illusion) and irreligion

Nowadays, we find yoga being taught in numerous courses and touted in mass-market books as a means to achieve health, lose weight, develop mental powers over others, achieve success in making money, or increase sexual potency. But real yoga is something entirely different

The cowherd boys were glad to be having lunch on the riverbank with their friend Krsna. How could they have known that a whole year later, the meal would still be going strong

Since the season was springtime, the breeze on the bank of the Yamuna was blowing very mildly, carrying the aroma of different flowers, especially the flower known as kaumudi. Moonlight filled the sky and spread everywhere, and thus the banks of the Yamuna appeared very bright and pleasing, and Lord Balarama enjoyed the company of the gopis there

There are some differences between Krishna and ourselves. Yesterday we saw that Krishna and Arjuna are both born around the same time but Krishna could remember everything He had done in all his previous 'births' but Arjuna could not. Actually we have trouble remembering even exactly what we did just a few hours ago. If I ask you what you were doing at exactly this time yesterday it may be difficult for you to answer immediately

Krishna is responding to everyone, devotee or non-devotee. He is revealing Himself or not revealing Himself according to the desire of the individual person. In another place in the Gita Krishna says: "I am within everyone's heart and I am giving remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness." So one may ask why would Krishna give anyone the ability to forget Him?

Krishna and His pure devotees are eternally related and whenever Krishna appears in the material world His confidential devotees also appear in the same place so they can render service to Krishna and in this way the pastimes of Krishna become very much enriched. If Krishna was alone then what could we speak about Krishna--but Krishna is not alone, Krishna is always with His devotees and the devotees are always with Krishna.

Sometimes it is good to 'get back to basics' on the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita. So I think a good place to start is the histroy of Bhagavad Gita. What is the Gita, where did it come from and how old is it

So the devotees of Krsna should be trained up both ways: not only to give protection to the devotees, to give them encouragement, but if need be, they should be prepared to kill the demons. That is Vaisnavism. It is not cowardism
